I would love to steal #85 away from Cincy but I don't think he and Braylon could co-exist on the same roster. Both of these guys want to be a #1 WR and we already have one of those. Not happening.

Walker if the price is right, he's under 30... he has had some injury problems the last few years though I think..
Johnson? Pass.

So Walker plays for 2 teams and demands to be traded both times Talent wise, the field would be dangerous with Walker on the field with Edwards, Winslow and JJ. He would also be a huge insurance if Edwards or JJ would get hurt at any point of the season. This is the first year I can remember in a very long time that none of the key starters missed significant playing time, which is a huge reason for the success of the offense. Tucker was suspended for 4 games, Jamal was out arfter one carry one game then the next, and McKinney was out the last few. If McKinney is offered a contract, I dont see it being for more another 1 year deal. Walker might be more of an offield distraction though that this team dont want (Antonio Bryant). He has demanded a trade from both teams he played on ,and although might have had nothing to do with it, was with that CB that was shot and killed in Denver.

Sadly...Id rather Chad than Javon.
but, at the same time Chad...while amazing at football is just too selfish, and too much about the show, and too much about getting Chad his numbers. Too much about getting Chad his attention, and too much about Chad in general.
If Chad was more about the team and winning than he was about Chad, I'd pick him up in an instant. but thats it.

Chad Johnson is a head-case. we don't need that here. all he cares about is himself. look at all the times cincy lost yardage because of his stupid celebration antics. he is definitely not worth it.
Javon walker i would be a nice addition to our offense, but do we really need him? i offense is fine..... we need to focus on our D.

I don't want either one of them. Having Edwards,KW2 and JJ is fine enough although it would be nice if Cribbs could catch a few more balls

If Chad was about that, he wouldn't want traded (and the Bengals wouldn't be considering it).. he's on a team with a fair amount of talent, he has a good QB throwing him the ball, he's got a threat on the other side that you can't ignore to double him all the time...

You would take Chad Johnson? He's a washed up bum, a never has been and a never will be.
No way I would add this loud mouth cancer on the Cleveland Browns. I want players not punks.

If he leaves cincy he could become next year's Randy Moss. Model citizen who catches balls at an alarming rate. I'd take him in a heartbeat if RAC could knock the idiocy out of him.
I know he's "only having fun". But the more fun he has the worse he plays. Still, on a losing team, he didn't do bad this year at all other than fewer TD's than usual. (I didn't look it up, I just think I remember that to be true).

Johnson is a very good receiver, maybe even great, but he'd have to tone down his shtick in Cleveland and I don't know if he can, unless he matures. Either way, we need defence more than Chad's contract.

WE??? -can't answer that, and won't speak for other Dawgs.
Me, personally? -Nope.
Thinking as Browns GM, I don't want:
Javon Walker at the price he'll command. I already have a viable #1, a reliable #3 (for at least another year...), and a pass-catching TE who could almost function as a #2. I have JLew in my backfield, Cribbs on my ST, a decent corps of backups who are costing me bupkis to keep. All but one of the "names"are on the upside of their careers/contracts. Truth be told- I'd rather see who develops from the farm, or trust my instincts as a GM/talent evaluator to "grow my own," rather than mess with the cap for any offensive upgrades. I need my capspace for D this year.
As a fan of football entertainment, Chad Johnson is best enjoyed at a distance. As GM, I wouldn't want to risk the team's chemistry by bringing him in. Not even if he could be had for an attractive price- which won't happen, trust me. Bottom line: Not on this team-at this time... at Chad's price. Too risky. Thanks- no.
Browns are just starting to build an identity... they don't need to deal with all the hassle that comes with adopting a larger-than-life "personality." Maybe if we're another 2 years more mature... but not now. Risk/reward ratio: not favorable.
Better for Phil to spend the money on the D.
25+ PPG is enough to consistently win in the NFL. Keeping opponents to under 24 PPG is paramount.
We can already do the former. We need help with the latter.

I like Chad Johnson. I don't give a damn about class; he's entertaining, that's all I care about. However, making him a Brown would only screw up this team's situation. Love him, but unfortunately, can't have him.

If the price was not too high ( re:Moss for a 4th round pick) why not? From everything I have heard Ocho Stinko is neither a bad team mate nor a locker room cancer and his antics are not mean spirited. IMO his motivation is that he believes the Bengals are in decline and he wants out while he can get out.Can Edwards and he work together? Ruth and Gehrig did not always get along and look what happened then!
Still.... the chances of him coming to Cleveland are slim.

I don't give a damn about entertainment. He's class-less, that what I care about.

We already have a solid number one in BE. There is no room on offense for either of these guys.
We could use a solid number two possession type receiver to replace JJ when he retires--but IMO neither Walker or Johnson would be willing to fill this role.

Number 2's are not possession-types. For a #2 you want a player who is just below the ability to be a #1. That way he costs less but is otherwise an excellant receiver. Before BE, all we had here were #2's.
JJ is more of a #3 slot/possession receiver playing as a #2 because we don't have a #2. You want your #2 to be at least somewhat of a threat deep downfield and JJ no longer has the speed for that.
But Chad Johnson is a #1. Braylon Edwards is a #1 and you really don't need two #1's. For one, they cost too much and for two, a #1 will get the majority of the passes and two players can't get the majority of the passes.
It would wreck whole the space/time continuum thing.
What would be ideal is BE at the #1, Travis Wilson at the #2, and JJ at #3 until he leaves and then Josh Cribbs at #3. That way we have everything we need without spending another dime or draft pick.
I think that would be ideal if Wilson can actually get himself on the field.
