Ok. I'll bite... What are the key concessions that Trump offered to Putin?

There is only 1 time the word "concession" is used and that is in the title.

1. Conceded that Ukraine will not be allowed into NATO

2. Conceded that Ukraine will not be made whole (in terms of land lost to Russia)

Don't think it was an opinion piece-there was a contract that was sent to Ukraine a week ago. this is not a concession-trump wants to strip Ukraine clean

link

https://www.telegraph.co.uk/busines...-confidential-plan-ukraine-stranglehold/

Donald Trump told Fox News that Ukraine had “essentially agreed” to hand over $500bn. “They have tremendously valuable land in terms of rare earths, in terms of oil and gas, in terms of other things,” he said.

He warned that Ukraine would be handed to Putin on a plate if it rejected the terms. “They may make a deal. They may not make a deal. They may be Russian someday, or they may not be Russian someday. But I want this money back,” he said.

This is what they support. That an American president now be a global dictator.

Honestly, if you have to spell that out to somebody, what is the point of having a conversation with that same person?

I believe that in many cases they have chosen to listen only to news sources that don't tell them what's actually going on and as such they have no clue. Sure that's their own damned fault but it couldn't hurt to inform them of what they don't know.

Honestly, I'm fine having this convo. He's one of the few people that I disagree with (in terms of this admin) that's actually sticking around in PP and engaging in conversation. Everyone else that we'd be debating with has either Houdini'd or is only posting the most inane Fox talking points with absolutely zero intellectual engagement. I also don't think his argument in the last few posts here is all that wild... GOP has been working towards the end of the war with these concessions for several years now, so it shouldn't be all that surprising. Obviously it still ruffles feathers, but we shouldn't be surprised.

1. USA doesn't make the decision as to who is allowed or not allowed in NATO.
2. USA didn't make that concession. They haven't even met yet. SMH

US is a major player in NATO, and with decisions of membership having to be unanimous, having the US say Ukrainian membership is off the table makes it seem pretty final.

Brussels
CNN

US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth said on Wednesday that the war between Ukraine and Russia “must end,” that Kyiv joining NATO is unrealistic and that the US will no longer prioritize European and Ukrainian security as the Trump administration shifts its attention to securing the US’ own borders and deterring war with China.

In remarks before a meeting of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group, Hegseth also said that European troops should be the primary force securing a post-war Ukraine—something US troops will not be involved in, he added.

“The United States does not believe that NATO membership for Ukraine is a realistic outcome of a negotiated settlement,” Hegseth said. And he added that any security guarantees offered to Ukraine “must be backed by capable European and non-European troops.”

“To be clear, as part of any security guarantee, there will not be US troops deployed to Ukraine,” he said.

Wow...politicians dont even have to gaslight the American people anymore. They willingly, enthusiastically, and aggressively do it to themselves. it's now completely self-sustained.

my countrymen are a collective disappointment.

To be fair, there is a LOT of nonsense to sift through right now.

Not a single person has brought up the ongoing DoJ vs NY prosecutors drama.

Prosecutors Resigning

I’ve pretty much been in a state of rage since the election. The sheer stupidity it took to hand power back to TRUMP is beyond mind boggling. I don’t get vets supporting him at all. I don’t get women supporting him at all. I don’t get POC supporting him at all. I don’t get most white men supporting him at all, especially those that claimed to be patriots. His entire admin is based on lies and fascist bigotry. He and Elon are breaking the law and laughing in the face of judges, wiping their ass with the constitution, and expecting people to shut up and take it like good little bitches.

And I don’t want to hate the regular joes that voted for him, but seeing the crap they’ve been posting, I just lose it.

I agree with this sentiment. Think you focus a bit too much on one side's "stupidity," but yeah, there still are definitely a ridiculous number of people that are running more on feelings than problem solving.

You’ve never heard me say dems didn’t contribute. And mostly, dems are guilty of letting the elites do most of the damage. Elites sent jobs overseas. Elites keep driving profits over people at all costs. And elites now own the right-wing lock stock and barrel. Dems are also guilty of not telling it like it is and over dramatizing weird crap, instead of working for the majority. I have no issues at all with lgbtq rights. But that doesn’t mean I want a program of trannies going into schools to read alt books to kids k-6th grade. I have no problem with the trans community, it’s the shoving it in the face of parents who were fed a nightly dose of hate from fox that dumbfounded me. There is a place for everything, but not everything belongs in all places. I’m Atheist and have felt my share of hate, but AI don’t feel the need to go into churches to hold debates and protest them. Hold the pride parades, be proud, but leave the sex ed and controversial topics for a time kids are old enough to understand.

I do think some kids looked at the lgbtq and declared themselves part of it to be cool, JD VANCE. But to try to take us back to a time when the lgbtq lived in fear of attacks or in the closet is totally BS. Work it out. And if the good christians can’t handle any exposure to them, let them send their kids to amish style schools. Amish still hold schools like the late 1800s. Small buildings, all ages of kids, lessons based on faith and community.

That is right from the Project 2025 playbook. Denial that the concept is real as negotiations have not happened, followed by laughter and "I told you so" when actions prove the playbook was being followed.

Feigning ignorance might be the best strategy in these debates.

I did not see from hegseths remarks, but there was an article just on drudge that now russia thinks that they would be able to go after London, Brussels or Paris because we would not invoke Article 5 of the NATO Treaty to help protect them. And they are on a rush to see how much land they can get in Ukraine because drump is gonna let them keep it.

Is that supposed to be a joke?

They couldn't even take Ukraine and they're pulling equipment out of museums and asking NKorea for help to stay in the fight (again, vs Ukraine). They're also failing in their counterattack vs the Ukrainian incursion.

They've been exposed as a paper tiger and then got a whole bunch of their equipment blown up.

Honest question... is this dude just going on about Musk, or is it about Ukraine.

To be transparent, if it's just another tech bro talking about how we just need to go along with what Musk is doing... I probably won't watch.

Trump will do whatever he can to enrich himself, his family, and the financial elite. All of his minions in congress scored big bucks during the covid bail outs, so they will be on board with his agenda until the pitchforks come out. We all can see he lied his ass off on the campaign trail and reading the budget shows that. The people who supported him are starting to figure it out, but most are still laping up the propaganda to pwn the libs.

Meanwhile the left is going through the opposition party motions and will lead protests to stop him, but will accomplish little in that regard. Trump will use their opposition to his advantage on the right. He’s already sending out fund raising email whining about it. The left is doing the same trying to “organize”… same ole same ole from both parties. They are all full of crap, because whoever is in power does nothing to curb the real problem in America, and that is the wealth inequality.

I get Trumpians are pissed off with the endless struggle of just trying to live financially secure lives and think Trump will save them, but he won’t. I get dems fury with Trump and MAGA because to us it seems they’ve lost their collective minds. And they’ve been spoon fed 50 years of propaganda to create the FAKE CULTURE WARS, while living and working with the same people they are being told to hate. The left is all about inclusion, but they have played a major role as the opposition in the culture diatribes against the right, while working, living, and even having DT relationships with the people they direct their ire at. I’m guilty as hell of that.

But when Trump is gone and another empty suit takes his place it will still be the same. Covid killed capitalism world-wide. We thought we’d get a bounce back after, but all we got was the impact of sending billions in covid relief and a two trillion dollar tax cut to the wealthiest Americans. And since they’ve used that wealth to buy up the commodities and assets working class people are upset about. The housing market is being eaten by the rich (mega corps and financial elite)and they are using our tax payer dollars to bilk the money out of us. They’ve almost bankrupted the government with 50+ years of lobbying, bribing, and now owning a party in control of all three branches. Elon isn’t cutting a damn thin g that might hurt him or the elite. No, they are targeting the poor and defenseless. Their budget calls for $65 dollar reduction to social security… they would have gone for more but know they can’t survive the pitchforks. But they are going to take a huge chunk if not all medicaid and snap assistance to justify and slightly offset new tax cuts mostly for the rich. We will get to pay the suffering price for that one too… but neither side gives a damn because they both represent the wealthy and corps, not everyday Americans. The courts might delay or stop the worst of it, but they too are in the pockets of the wealthy. It’s a dog and pony show and NOBODY is coming to save the working class or poor. They’ve almost bankrupted just want to keep the illusion going for as long as they can. Elon’s tesla stock doubled right after the election and that was the wealthy banking/betting that he would get more contracts. They don’t give a damn about any of us, our kids, our futures. They just want to keep the exploitation going until we are all in abject poverty.

And by keeping us at each other’s throats, they can keep us from coming together and demanding that wealth inequality be addressed. This realization and the blatant evidence is what has had me damn near losing my mind the last week or two. But alas, screaming at those who refuse to see or believe it is not the answer. We either come together and demand the inequality be addressed, or we keep fighting each other while they all fleece us into oblivion. The whole culture war BS, fox anchor Jesse Walters laughing and admitting they just made up the $50 Billion dollars in condoms story on live TV, was the final straw for me. There has been almost no coverage of that. There has been no sane coverage of all the cra cra in the admin and on capital hill. Both sides toying with lives of real people for personal and political gains. And I’m just done with the entire lot of them. I’m going to champion EAT THE RICH, because that is exactly what the elite are doing to the bottom 99%.

This means your kids will never have the same opportunities the American dream promised us. And that generational wealth building is now a pipe dream unless you are born into a wealthy family. Kids starting from scratch today have ZERO chance of leading finically free lives because they’ve rigged everything to keep their status, power, influence, and wealth at our expense. Doesn’t matter how hard you work, doing every damn thing you were told was right to make yourself financially free. It was always rigged and they want us to feel that we are failing or inadequate. That’s what all the you should have worked harder crap has done, and now an entire generation is depressed to the point they are killing themselves. Boys feel so inadequate and unworthy that they sit at home instead of pursuing relationships and getting married. There are no good jobs for them, no opportunities, and I get their “what’s the point” attitude. Girls feel a little more loved, but also are avoiding making families.

This is what all the hoopla about abortion rights is about. The elite want breeders breeding to insure their grandkids have a lower class to exploit. Make more little wage slaves now! Smh. I did a deep dive into the history of wealth inequality and we’ve been here before. 1800’s and the great depression. Industrialization helped narrow it in the 1800s. The great wars helped narrow it in the 1900’s. But in 2025 about the only profitable driver of the GDP is tech because we’ve become a services based economy and we make nothing. Production is way down from the 80’s and 90’s when compare to things from 2008 until present. And cuts to the middle class to keep feeding the machine has been the countries only saving grace from the elite point of view. They’ve damn near bankrupted the country with their greed. They now continual growth is impossible without tons of innovation, and we dumbed everyone down for factory jobs! One hand didn’t know what the other was doing for 50+ years! Jesus what a mess. When I was coming up they pushed college like crazy. And yes, college got you a decent job back then, but not now. It’s a joke when you look at the price of education vs. economic returns. They rigged thing so much, nothing we do to make things better will work, other than inheriting wealth from your family.

But they kept up the illusion. Work hard and you’ll rap the rewards… BS. Everyone I know worked thier asses off. Some are financially sound, but the only people you hear about getting rich for as far back as I can recall are those that got super lucky with the right idea at the right time. Zuckerberg, Bezos, and a handful of others fit that bill, but nobody I know personally. I chased the almighty dollar so hard trying to get there, I can’t believe how foolish I was. Then in 08 I finally had a company on the way to becoming a millionaire just to lose it over the damn housing bubble crash. I spend a decade trying to figure out how it went wrong, how I was inadequate, but never found the answer. Turns out it never was my fault. No matter what I did, I wasn’t going to win the game. Between the depression from that and my health giving out from working 16-20 hour days for 20+ years, I find that I never stood a chance of achieving my goals. And that is plain infuriating. I can look all the way back to Reagan’s first term and see it all now. I’m a dupe too. Damn that’s hard to say.

Capitalism in America is dead. The American dream is dead. And the vultures have 80 percent of the meat off the bones. Our government represents NONE OF US. And unless we unite and stand against the greed and wealth inequality, it’s only going to go down hill. My wife and I will survive, but my college graduated kids are struggling to raise our grand kids who probably will have crap futures. What they hell is it all for if we have zero upward mobility? Working just to survive or to pay for your subscription to poverty, unfulfilled lives, and endless struggles? That’s not living. We might as well be energy bags in the matrix.

I have no idea how, but we have to wake ourselves up, come together as the working and poor class, and force the changes in our government to address the wealth gap. So, from this moment in time, it looks like a lost cause. Maybe after Trump’s term when we’re even worse off, something might happen. But I think we’re all screwed. AND IT’S NONE OF OUR FAULT.

Those who made great money in their hay-days will pass it on to a generation that has no chance of building upon it. The wealthy are buying up the basics we need to thrive. They send our best products to other markets for higher returns and import crap to peddle to us for higher prices/profit. The only things they fear are riots, revolt, and a french revolution style ending. They are more brazen by the day in our exploitation. And when either side boasts on a good economy, the working class never seems to see it materialize in their lives because we’re too busy paying for their last screw up. Neither party does a thing to change the status quo financially. And we in-fight over scraps, take some sort of sick pride over which side we vote for and defend when they fail, pass that around to our friends and family like it’s gospel, fool ourselves into thinking we’ll be rich af some day, and easily get bated into attacking others in the poor and working class are the issue, trying to throw each other under the bus so we have something to stand upon reaching for the next rung that always seems just out of reach. Pure madness. /rant

EDIT: one last thing: I knew China loaned us money creating the deficit and for some reason thought that other countries hold all of our debt. NOPE. The wealthy created the fed so we can’t just print money when the economy is tight and drag it back in taxes when things improve. The fed controls the interest rate of borrowing money for the elite and mega corps with assets, they in-turn loan it back to the government at a higher rate, and tax payers make the interest payments. We only have about 800 Billion in debt with the Chinese. Then they use this financial power over the government to rig the game, intentionally cause downturns, rinse and repeat. When the fed went to zero after 08 then during covid, they robbed us blind. They killed capitalism. And neither them nor the broken government has the plans or means to fix the mess they’ve created. And literally the only way back to avoiding the same fates as Mexico, Venezuela, and Greece is to tax the elite damn near out of existense. The only choice they have is to keep the illusion going for as long as they can. This explains the huge push to control AI. But they don’t plan on letting us see any of the financial benefits of a new golden age… well no more than it takes to keep the illusion going. Somehow none of this made sense to me until the last few weeks. I knew we had problems but never fathomned it was rigged against us to this degree.

This guy is a real eye opener, not partisan, just rational observance. This interview was excellent, the one on Musk is his channel. He’s a British economist, self made millionaire retired at 27, now a truth evangelist that sounds like Bernie without the socialism. Talks about the UK and America in his videos. Check him out.

Explains the shutdowns AND the push back to work.

What Musk is probably up to.

And he really makes a lot of this crap make sense. I must have read and watched 200 articles/videos over the last month trying to see where we are headed, why the hell this seems like a coup, and how far they’ll take it. To some relief it’s not as bad as I thought. Not trying to go full on Fascist and Authoritarian. still a con and a heist, with lines they dare not cross for fear of pitchforks. BUT at the same time realizing the truth behind the government issues and why it seems like we’ve declined so much since the 80s-90s, putting it all together so I can wrap around it, was devastating. Now, I’m not even sure there is a fight to fight anymore.

Pretty much. Both parties just want to be the banker when playing real world Monopoly. Rig things for themselves while effectively sending you "directly to jail without passing go" and taxing you whenever you land on their properties (which they see as the entire country) so they can "build more hotels." Both wave around Chance cards, but they stack that deck, too.

Let me know when a president who is a real estate developer says he will take over an area like Gaza to build a new Riviera in the middle east. Oh wait, it's already happened. This "both sides are exactly alike" BS doesn't hold water anymore.

U.S. envoy visits Ukraine after Trump blames Zelenskyy for Russia's invasion

"I think I have the power to end this war, and I think it's going very well. Today I heard, 'Oh, well, we weren't invited.' Well, you've been there for three years. You should have ended it three years — you should have never started it," Mr. Trump chided Zelenskyy. "You could have made a deal. I could have made a deal for Ukraine that would have given them almost all of the land. Everything, almost all of the land. And no people would have been killed and no city would have been demolished, and not one dome would have been knocked down. But they chose not to do it that way."

"This is, frankly, what Vladimir Putin would have said — that none of this needed to happen, when in fact, it happened because he wanted it to happen," Ravi Agrawal, the editor in chief of Foreign Policy magazine, told CBS News' Major Garrett after hearing Mr. Trump's remarks.

Zelenskyy reacted Wednesday, saying Mr. Trump appeared to be operating in a "disinformation space" fostered by Russia.

Putin, who first sent forces into Ukraine in 2014 and seized control of its Crimean Peninsula in a unilateral annexation never recognized by the U.S. or most of the world, has claimed he was forced to launch his full-scale attack on the neighboring nation due to a threat posed by the U.S.-led NATO alliance spreading its influence eastward toward Russia's border.

The U.S. and its European NATO allies have always dismissed that excuse, insisting that Putin's real intention ahead of the February 2022 full-scale invasion was always to seize more of Ukraine's sovereign territory and delegitimize Zelenskyy's pro-Western government.

"NATO consists of 32 countries and NATO's position is that it [war in Ukraine] was unprovoked," Adm. Stuart B. Munsch, the commander of U.S. Naval Forces for Europe and Africa, said Wednesday in Romania when asked about Mr. Trump's remarks. The American commander — one of the U.S. Navy's longest-serving active duty officers — is in Romania for a NATO military exercise aimed at preparing the alliance for any further Russian aggression on Europe's far eastern flank.

Mr. Trump has made fiery rhetoric, and sometimes a loose adherence to fact, a hallmark of his negotiating tactics with foreign powers — including a baseless claim from his Mar-a-Lago mansion on Tuesday that Zelenskyy's approval rating had dipped to 4%, when domestic polling in Ukraine shows it over 50%. That lines up with Kremlin propaganda, along with a call for Ukraine to hold new elections and a suggestion it should have done so already, despite the country's constitution making a vote impossible under the current state of emergency sparked by Russia's invasion.

Mr. Trump's remarkable espousal of Russian rhetoric has fueled rising concern in Europe that the U.S. could be shifting the enormous weight of its geopolitical and security influence away from the deep-rooted democracies of the West, toward the autocratic rulers of the ideologically conservative east, and especially Putin.

The Russian leader's longtime confidant, Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, acknowledged the shift Wednesday, lauding Mr. Trump and saying his "remarks on NATO being the main reason for the conflict in Ukraine are a signal that he understands our position."

"I assume the United States, as discussed yesterday, intends to remove obstacles that are in the path of promising projects. We have begun to move away from the edge of the abyss where Biden's administration led our relationship," the veteran Russian diplomat said.

Zelenskyy has softened his stance in recent months, seemingly accepting that he may have to cede some of his country's Russian-occupied territory in an eventual peace deal, but he's made it clear that Ukraine must be involved in the negotiations for a ceasefire agreement, and that his country will need security guarantees from the U.S. and the West to protect it from any future Russian attack.

"We are seeing a lot of disinformation and that is coming from Russia," Zelenskyy said Wednesday. "Unfortunately, President Trump, with all due respect… is living in this disinformation space."
Zelensky gave an interview in Turkey

The Ukrainian leader said he wanted to end the war "this year," but he admonished the Trump administration for helping Russia's autocratic regime to "break out" of the isolation it brought upon itself — in the form of sanctions and cut-off diplomacy — by launching the unprovoked attack on his country.

It was unclear how hard Mr. Trump's special envoy Keith Kellogg, who arrived in Kyiv Wednesday to "sit and listen" to Zelenskyy's administration after the Ukrainians were left out of the initial dialogue with the Kremlin, would push the American president's viewpoint that Ukraine could or should have prevented or stopped the war foisted upon it by its far larger, far better armed, autocratically-ruled neighbor.

Upon arriving, Kellogg, a retired three-star general, said it was nice to be visiting Kyiv "just a few days before the third anniversary of Russia's invasion of Ukraine," seemingly acknowledging which side had initiated the war.

Kellogg called his visit "a chance to have some good, substantial talks," but what Ukraine will want is a clear indication that the world's biggest military power will somehow protect it from future Russian aggression. Zelenskyy has long said that could come in the form of either NATO membership for his country or NATO forces deployed to enforce a ceasefire.

After U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio led the White House delegation's bilateral talks with Lavrov in Saudia Arabia on Tuesday, the Russian foreign minister said point-blank that the Kremlin wouldn't accept either of those things. Russia has already ruled out any exchange of occupied territory with Ukraine, and it's unclear what concessions the Trump administration could try to win from Russia for a peace deal.

"We understand the need for security guarantees," Kellogg told Ukrainian public broadcaster Suspilne Novyny after arriving in Kyiv on Wednesday. "It's very clear to us the importance of the sovereignty of this nation and the independence of this nation as well... Part of my mission is to sit and listen."

He said he would share what he learned on his trip to Kyiv with Mr. Trump and Rubio to "ensure that we get this one right."

A Kremlin spokesperson has said Putin and President Trump could meet in-person as early as this month, even as the war in Ukraine rages on.

Myths and misconceptions in the debate on Russia

Ive only read a couple of these... But specific to Ukraine: Myth 03: ‘Russia was promised that NATO would not enlarge’

Contrary to the betrayal narrative cultivated by Russia today, the USSR was never offered a formal guarantee on the limits of NATO expansion post-1990. Moscow merely distorts history to help preserve an anti-Western consensus at home.

From what i can read into the authenticity of the info, it appears unbiased and reasonable. While myth 03 states Russia was not promised Nato wouldn't expand, it goes into details over how the West mishandled Ukraine and Russia with regards to overtures to joining Nato.

So when this is all said and done, none of the truly stupid and dumb statements that Trump makes along the way will really matter too much. Some, like me, will take umbridge that Trump mollycoddled Putin while peeing over Nato allies and Ukraine. Some might remember how Trumps skillful negotiating tactic was to start with Ukraine never joining Nato ans Russia keeping Ukraine territory.

With that said ... Heres more really stupid chit from Trump. Boasting while also being laughably ignorant.
