Actually, whether stills or video, that fact that you're all trying to sell "Nazi, Nazi, Nazi!!" is how we got here.

You either need to have absolutely no shame or an astounding level of stupidity to put this out there.

You gotta jump through some hoops to get that. That’s a single page request reformatted to be readable. The average joe on the street wouldn’t have a clue with the code output from the API, nor the knowledge of what to do with the linked API methods on the website. What a farce. They could have easily put up a site for this data that allows ALL to easily access it.

It’s either absolute amateur hour or they are hiding crap. News agencies will be all over this, so we’ll find out.

Sure are a lot of health services and other things Americans use being cut… hmmm? That’s one page, who knows how many more. Deciding if I want to bother scraping it all or see what the news orgs do… at first glance it looks pretty damning.

Beginning to think Elon has a bunch of script kiddies doing this… it’s amateur hour folks, here’s the github link for the API site.

https://github.com/swagger-api/swagger-ui

It’s an open source user interface. And I think it may have just been hacked. Links were removed after my first visit, but maybe they are updating or building. I never seen any government or business implement such a crude website for important information. This is another page processed:

Most of the info on this page is useless and might as well be redacted. And MAGA was applauding this fiasco as a win. SMH, ycmtsu.

I’m not gonna waste any more of purp’s resources on this. This is tantamount to Trump’s release of the Epstein files. Another BS show.

EDIT: it looks like they defunded a ton of federal procurement contracts under grants… hmm? This was page 1 and 2 of the grants subsection. So, it still looks very much like they are dismantling all of our services for people here in the USA along with some foreign aid. Not one this about this should change our minds. Damn these guys can’t misdirect for being so amateur and inept. Frightening and embarrassing at the same time. Ish show on steroids.

I don't know if the media will be all over it. It seems like most headlines these days are bumper sticker based and the headline churn is at a breakneck speed, so you don't have the time to analyze things and break them down.

For instance, I've mentioned things like exorbitant realized profit on FFP contracts and how converting from firm fixed price contracts to fixed price incentive firm contracts on legacy systems would save billions upon billions, but it's hard to translate that to John Q. Public at a level that can be absorbed in an age of firehosed media headlines.

And - who is it that benefits by flooding zones with excrement as Banner so famously said they needed to do? The good, honest transparent people in power with our best interest at heart - right?

Could probably cut and paste this into any number of threads and it would be appropriate. What makes it worse is when everyone floods the zone - by which I mean people getting into peeing battles and invoking Hitler, Nazi's and "Trump said on day one" ... none of which helps keep a conversation focused on real issues or leads to constructive dialogue. In most cases we aren't likely to change someone's mind - but when the "conversation" races to the bottom of the barrel with insults, meme's and name calling ... it just makes everything that much worse and sadly it's the way 95% of posts go in here. I'm guilty too - there are a couple of Trumptards I'll respond in kind to, but try to keep it to a minimum unless I see some of the truly mindless and troll posts.

I agree. I fall into that pit way too often myself, more so lately because this administration affects me more personally and some are exploiting that fact on the board, so I think that causes me to race more quickly to the bottom. I need to be better than that more often than I am.

Right, I know everyone has access, I just haven't used the public version myself so I can't give advice on it.

My issue is how anecdotal everything is. And, when it's not anecdotal, it contains inaccuracy, falsehoods, and/or doesn't tell the complete story based on the actualities of going in and looking at exactly what the expenditure/procurement is.

Makes for good headlines and Tweets though.

Most people are cool with the "anecdotes" as long as the list keeps growing...

The Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), led by Elon Musk and established by President Donald Trump, has focused on cutting federal spending and eliminating wasteful programs. Below is a summary of the initiatives and expenditures DOGE has targeted or uncovered:

Major Cuts and Savings
DEI Programs: DOGE canceled 104 government contracts related to Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility (DEIA) across 30 agencies, saving over $1 billion. This included terminating a $45 million scholarship program for students in Burma.

Lease Terminations: DOGE canceled underutilized leases for federal buildings, saving $44.6 million from 22 leases.

Consulting Contracts: Eliminated various consulting contracts, including 36 contracts across six agencies, resulting in savings of $165 million.

Improper Payments and Fraud: Investigated billions lost annually to improper payments and fraud in federal systems, with plans to improve payment accuracy.

Specific Programs and Expenditures Uncovered
DOGE uncovered several controversial expenditures, including:

$500 million allocated to "environmental justice" consultants.

$3.4 million for a Malaysian dating app reportedly linked to drug-fueled gay sex.

$78,000 to a Palestinian activist group allegedly tied to terrorism.

$1 million for foreign DEI programs, such as indigenous language technology in Guatemala.

Over $1 million for a video game aimed at helping LGBTQ youth reduce binge drinking.

$38.7 million annually for DEI work at the Office of Minority Health.

Targeted Agencies
DOGE has focused on agencies perceived as redundant or inefficient:

USAID: DOGE is working to dismantle the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), which channels billions into global humanitarian aid. Functions may be transferred to the State Department.

NOAA: The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration faces potential budget cuts that could affect weather forecasting services.

Department of Education: Expected to undergo downsizing or possible dissolution.

Additional Findings
DOGE has also targeted initiatives promoting "climate justice" for convicts, racial disparities in vasectomy knowledge ($1.5 million), and LGBTQIA+ affirming eating disorder treatments ($5 million).

DOGE claims to have achieved approximately $1 billion in savings daily through these actions.

What's so funny about a powerful AI machine that combines eight sources and comes up with an answer?

Oh, wait, we know... it's not the answer you want to accept. thumbsup

It's odd how terrible Musk's first "report" was in terms of inaccuracy, inflated numbers and just outright lies he told about saving money on contracts that had already been paid out. And now you feed Musk's numbers into AI and it reports "Yes, that's what those numbers say" as some test of accuracy.

Let me know when a team of actual forensic accountants do what they are trained to do rather than numbers accumulated from a billionaire and a bunch of code writers. It never ceases to amaze me how you think people that have no experience doing what they're doing seems to be a logical thing to do instead of forensic accountants that have been educated and are skilled at doing this exact job. But having unqualified people in charge of things they know little to nothing about is a trademark of this administration and their supporters sit by and applaud it.

Here's some AI for you..............

Is Elon Musk a good person? His Grok AI says no

Grok, the AI developed by Elon Musk’s xAI company and distributed over his X social network, says Musk is not a good person when asked by users. The chatbot offers a laundry list of reasons, from spreading of misinformation to labor practices at his companies. It’s the second time the AI has spoken poorly of Musk.

Everything's odd when you run around with your eyes closed and fingers in your ears. I love the left and their brain-dead arguments... "He didn't really save us all that money, a lot of that money was already spent!!"

Gee, that makes us all feel better. notallthere

You do realize that saving money and "waste and fraud" are not the same thing don't you? I understand that changing the definition of what was stated he was supposed to be doing mid stream is popular however.

You can save money by having your electricity cut off. You can save money by only eating beans and rice. I understand how you like to call an opposing view bickering. It turns into bickering when people start throwing around terms like "brain dead" during a discussion.

The funny thing is that there was already an agency in the government that was responsible for oversight and clean up of stuff like this.

Musk comes in and turns on a flame thrower. It could have been done without the fanfare and mistakes, but that would not have tweeted or been headlines.

I hope Elon learned his lesson. Now half the country is mad at him and his company it taking a hit because of his antics.

Probably does not care, but he could have done things differently.
