I know some of you don't care, but the Chattanooga Mocs won the NIT.

Chattanooga was far and away the best team in the Southern Conference this year but suffered an unfortunate upset in the conference tournament. As a smaller conference, only one team gets to go to the Big Dance. The tournament champ, even if they sucked during the season. It is what it is.

Wofford won the conference over Furman, to who we lost. Wofford was a 15 seed in the Big tournament. Had the Mocs won, it was being projected they would have been a 9-10 seed.

Winning the NIT was a nice rebound with wins over Dayton, Bradley, and tonight UC Irving.

Go Mocs!

There is a big bend in the Tennessee river here in town called moccasin bend. We had a mascot named Chief Mocahomis. When the uproar over Native American mascots came to the forefront the school changed it to a Mockingbird.

Wow. I thought you made the last part up. Water Moccasin snakes and the moccasin shoe were both deemed too culturally inappropriate. I don't know how we still have the Braves, Chiefs and Blackhawks doing the tomahawk chop. Probably best to name your team after a tree... or fruit... just not pomegranate. I digress.
