we certainly prioritzed the RB room. Can't complain about either of them
"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."
I think we can say goodbye to the Chubb re-signing stuff and it is probably the right move given the injuries. I hope this draft lets fans come to terms with it but it still was a somewhat abrupt ending to his career here....which sucks, of course.
Good luck, Nick. Forever a Brown.
At DT, context and meaning are a scarecrow kicking at moving goalposts.
Love this pick. Dylan Sampson is a really good back. Explosive and a home run hitter. Judkins to soften the defense and keep the chains moving. and Sampson to break off long runs.
Romans 10:9 "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and believe in thy heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved."
STRENGTHS: ● Loves to play fast and displays electricity with the ball in his hands ● Can turn the corner and race down the sideline ● Natural feel for following pullers on counter runs ● Will press zone runs before using light feet to shake laterally (wears No. 6 because he models his game after Alvin Kamara) ● Accelerates into second-level contact with balance to spin out of defender's grasp ● Makes sharp speed cuts and weaves to avoid getting squared up ● Fights for every yard — and consistently gets more than expected ● High-energy personality (Tennessee coach Josh Heupel: "He's grown into somebody who has a great voice. He's truly a strong leader for us.") ● Nose for the paint — scored 36 touchdowns in 35 games (set school record with at least one TD in 11 straight games) ● Carried Vols' offense in 2024, including breaking single-season rushing touchdown record that had stood for 95 years
WEAKNESSES: ● Has some muscularity but frame is lighter than desired for the position ● Not a powerful runner, inside or downhill ● Adequate run patience as he searches for daylight but could use better anticipation to hit the hole as it comes open ● Adequate hands as a receiver but will fight the ball at times (two drops on 25 targets in 2024) ● More than willing in pass pro but his and eyes need to improve to match up against NFL rushers ● Extra fight as a runner gives defenders extra chances to swipe the ball (four fumbles in 2024) ● Didn't play on special teams in college and doesn't have return experience ● Missed almost all of his final game against Ohio State with strained left hamstring (Dec. 2024)
SUMMARY: A one-year starter at Tennessee, Sampson was a prolific runner in head coach Josh Heupel's up-tempo, multiple-run scheme (exclusively one-back sets in the gun). After serving as a backup behind Jaylen Wright and Jabari Small for two seasons, he emerged as SEC Offensive Player of the Year in 2024 (averaged 131.4 rushing yards per game in SEC play), setting school-records for rushing yards (1,491) and rushing touchdowns (22) in a season. Although it looks chaotic at times when he plays in overdrive, Sampson runs with urgent speed getting through the first wave, and his sharp lateral cuts open up the field. He isn't powerful, but he runs with outstanding competitiveness and averaged a touchdown every 12.1 carries in college. Overall, Sampson is undersized by NFL standards and his inconsistent tempo gets him in trouble, but he is equal parts fast, physical and slippery as a runner and shows promise as a pass catcher. He can have a Tony Pollard-like impact for an NFL backfield.
I do like how the 2 RBs have different skill sets and will complement each other

I hope this year is the one where we see some offensive packages with two backs harking back to the success of Mack / Byner and Csonka /Kiick. It might help open some passing. Interested in seeing what this means for the UDFA's.

I have been screaming that at anybody who will listen for years. and also screaming that for years to people who don't want to listen either lol
Well we had the best (imo) potential for that when Chubb was in his prime and Hunt was still a force. . . . didn't happen. If it didn't happen with those two in the backfield I just don't see a KS team ever doing it. But I do agree - certainly back then - it would have been fun and dangerous.
The more things change the more they stay the same.
Some of these big backs running out of the slot or sealing on a wing still make sense even though it is low-tech offense like the tush push. Good chances for good mismatch of your choosing, especially if you are the smartest guy in the room just as we have proven countless times. Just sayin'.

Hilarious how many fans want to return to a 2 back set Because they are nostalgic for Byner/ Mack . Yet those Browns team accomplished what with Mack Byner ? The playoffs. That was the ceiling . Be prepared for the Browns offense to struggle to score Points again .

It sounds as if someone has lost sight of the fact in order to ever get to a SB you must first make the playoffs.
Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

Preach! That sucked being in the playoffs four years in a row and a few plays from two Super Bowls. Please, anything but that!

Yeah, and what idiotic move brought that teams fortune down. A regime change. Modell fired Marty and then the Browns had 1 last good year and then a 3-win season followed by back-to-back 6-win seasons before Belichek got the team back to the playoffs. Just when Bill had the team going in the right direction the announcement to move to Baltimore happened. The Browns were tied for 1st place the day of the announcement and the team has struggled ever since. But we still have fans calling for regime change all the time around here. It has worked so well in the past.
