I don't mind this pick. Finally a skill position.

Judkins reminds me of Kareem Hunt. Would have preferred Henderson on Kaleb Johnson.

Brugler had Judkins ranked as RB5 and the #60 player on his Big Board. Dane Brugler's summary report on Judkins:

STRENGTHS:
● Well-built, compact back with rocked-up quads
● Displays both balance and run strength, making it a chore for defenders to get him on the ground
● Won't slow into contact and never had a run he didn't finish
● Has vision to find the crease or cutback
● Good backfield feet with plant-and-go acceleration to build up immediate momentum
● Aggressively attacks designed inside run lane with goal of hitting second level at top speed
● Serviceable pass catcher and reliable in screen game
● Terrific ball security for a back who seeks out contact (only one fumble in past two seasons
● Finished with 50 career touchdowns and became the only player in Ole Miss history with 17 total touchdowns or more in a season (he did it
twice)
● Above-average rushing production in both SEC and Big Ten (needed only two seasons to rank top three in all-time rushing yards at Ole Miss)
● Durable — didn't miss a game in past three seasons

WEAKNESSES:
● More quick and decisive than truly explosive
● Lacks getaway gear to speed away from pursuit in open field
● Overeager at the line with inconsistent pace and patience
● Needs to be choosier when picking lanes
● Inconsistent in pass protection and struggles to stay square; stagnant feet and mistimed hand strikes
● Didn't play on special teams in college
● Plenty of mileage on the odometer (799 career touches in college, more than 500 touches in high school)

SUMMARY: A one-year starter at Ohio State, Judkins shared running back duties in former offensive coordinator Chip Kelly's diverse run game
(gap/zone, pin-pulls, counters, etc.). He had one of the best two-year rushing stretches in SEC history while at Ole Miss. He then transferred to
Columbus, Ohio, for the 2024 season and surpassed 1,000 yards rushing for the third straight year. He joined Ohio State because he wanted to win
a national title, and he helped pay off that goal with three touchdowns in a championship-game victory over Notre Dame.
Judkins has quick eyes and footwork to react to the blocking geometry, although he often runs like he is starving and must balance his aggressive
style with improved patience before attacking the line of scrimmage. His best traits are his play strength and the run toughness to drop his pads,
barrel through heavy contact and come out the other side. Overall, Judkins isn't as dynamic as other backs in this class, but he is an "attitude"
runner with the quickness, vision and violence to be a productive lead option in an NFL backfield. He can help secure his spot on the depth
chart by taking his passing-down responsibilities from serviceable to above average.

I like the 20 extra pounds on our back choice vs slimmer OSU runner......not quite as fast, but NFL requires bigger boys.....GO Browns!!!!

NFL.com profile thingy makes Judkins out to be the more pure runner of the ball, while Henderson has a more dynamic game in terms of catching.

If this is true, I’m ok with this so long as he fits and has the vision for our offense.

I would call that an accurate assessment

But
Henderson can run
Judkins can catch

These are just 2' traits for them
Henderson elite in the screen game - good runner
Judkins elite runner - okay in the pass game

I hope this doesn't mean we aren't resigning Chubb, that would seriously bum me out

I love this pick. Would really like to see the Browns bring Chubb back and have him team with Judkins for a year or two.

We needed a RB badly. Judkins is a solid pick

"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."

RB room isn't complete. They will need to either re-sign Chubb or take a second QB day 3. If I'm being honest, I would love to see them come back and draft Scattebo.

Edit: I just realized I had said QB in my post before I wrote the following... yes I meant RB, my bad..

You typically only take one project QB and Gabriel is definitely a project. If they were going two QBs, one would have been earlier. I know this is probably hyperbole, but they do need another RB in that room.

Currently
Quinshon Judkins - starter by default
Jerome Ford - situational backup at best
Pierre Strong Jr. - see Ford

You can't enter camp with (3) RBs, two of which could not be every day starters, even as part of a rotational group. If they were cut today or put on the practice squad, they would not be sought after. Neither show enough as a passing option to warrant a #2 role. Both can be effective when the line is healthy in spot duty, but we definitely need that second RB. Judkins was part of the new playoff system and proved he can play a full season after the Buckeyes played in 16 games. But he was there with a true 2nd back committee who shared the load almost equally.

Free agents:
JK Dobbins will require too much money for his health risks
Nick Chubb - the most likely outcome if they don't draft a second RB

You just posted a prime example of why Brugler isn't an NFL GM nor does he run a scouting department in the NFL. Sports media is his calling.

Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

Man I love this pick. Judkins is a stud. A violent runner with good speed. His move to the Bucks allowed them to keep Henderson, who had come off an injury plagued season, to not have to carry the load. Maybe Judkins can do the same for Chubb???

I really like Chubb. Both a player and a person. I don't think fans could ask for any more. But I try to be practical in my thinking in terms of expectations based on investment. Chubb was the #35 pick in 2018. Judkins was selected with the #36 pick in the draft this year. As such it appears to me that if anything, Judkins would be the feature back and Chubb would be used to spell Judkins when he needs a rest.

As of now Chubb isn't even on the Browns roster. I would love to see him return but have no idea how much he would be able to contribute.

the tea leaves say Chubb will re-sign next week, but we can't rely upon him to be anything more than he was last season. He'll be our backup IMO

From the NFL Combine:

It said Judkins was
6' even 221 pounds and ran a 4.48 40

Henderson was
5'-10" 202 pounds and ran a 4.43 40

I'm a bit torn on bringing Chubb back. I might prefer the Browns draft another RB with the talent left on the board.

I would have been fine with drafting either, but I did like Henderson's ability in the passing game and his pass blocking. I think that made him more of a three down back. That said the NFL seems to he shifting to the RB committee structure so maybe they view Ford as that pass catching back (which he certainly brings) or they'll look to someone in the draft.

I do like Judkins' frame, burst, vision etc. He remind me of someone......

I would have ben fine with either Judkins or Henderson ..... but I think that Judkins is my favorite pick thus far.
