I remember the 1st time I ever heard the Blue Swede version. I was 10 or 11, and I had the radio on as I was dozing off to sleep .......
Then I heard that "ooga shaka" chant. (or whatever it is) It woke me right up, and freaked me out.

Good song. As a kid I spent many summers in Alabama to visit the Grandparents. I remember several times when Grandma had to stop the car when she saw pokeweed growing on the roadside. We had to go cut some poke.
She had to boil the stuff 3-4 times to make it edible since it is a poisonous plant but once it was cooked properly it was a very tasty green. Similar to mustard greens.
It makes me wonder how many people got sick or worse before they figured out how many times they had to boil the stuff before they could eat without having severe cramps and squirts, or croaking....geesh, I would have stopped after the first attempt.
