Baseball needs a little less of one and more answers like this.

As Mudcat Grant would say....a little "chin music".

Shane Bieber struck out 5 in his 1st rehab start in the rookie league, going 2 1/3 scoreless innings.

It would be great is we could get him back later this season.

Rockies are first team in MLB history to lose 50 games before getting 10 wins. Worst record ever is currently held by the Cleveland Spiders, Rockies are on track to set a new record.

Some fun facts on the local news tonight:

Since September 22nd the Rockies and Denver Broncos both have 10 wins.

Since the start of the MLB Season on March 28th the Nuggets have more wins (11) than the Rockies (9).

Since May 4th golfer Scottie Scheffler has the same amount of PGA tour wins (3) as the Rockies have wins (3).

It's supposed to be hard! If it wasn't hard, everyone would do it. The hard... is what makes it great!

Ortiz betting the under on the Guardians run total (maybe), lol

By Zack Meisel and Ken Rosenthal
July 3, 2025Updated 11:54 am EDT

CHICAGO — Guardians pitcher Luis Ortiz has been placed on “non-disciplinary paid leave” through the end of the All-Star break as a result of an MLB investigation, with multiple sources telling The Athletic that the probe is related to gambling.

The league announced that Ortiz would be placed on leave Thursday morning; MLB said in a statement it would not comment further until the conclusion of the investigation.

The Guardians released the following statement: “The Guardians have been notified by Major League Baseball that Luis Ortiz has been placed on leave per an agreement with the Players Association due to an ongoing league investigation. The Guardians are not permitted to comment further at this time, and will respect the league’s confidential investigative process.”

In 2024, MLB banned San Diego Padres infielder Tucupita Marcano for life for betting on his own team. The league also suspended four other players for a year for betting on baseball. MLB umpire Pat Hoberg was also fired earlier this year after it was learned that he shared sports betting accounts with a friend who bet on baseball games.

Well ... a sweep of the 1st place Astros is a nice place to start a turnaround.

1. Kwan LF
2. Martinez CF/2B
3. Ramirez 3B
4. Manzardo DH/1B

With Martinez hitting and playing well in the field. I’m hoping they let him play everyday for the rest of the season. Top 4 should be set for the rest of the season.

I like this top four. Trade Santana, get Fry some more at bats at 5. I don't care about 6-9 since they're all batting in the .100s anyway. well, maybe Nolan Jones 6th since he beginning to show a pulse.

5. Fry DH
6. ??? RF
7. ??? 2B
8. Naylor C - needs upgraded
9. Rocchio/Arias SS - needs upgraded

I’m completely ok dealing Santana for whatever. I’d also trade Clase for a RF. Would love to see Fry DH everyday.

I think we’re stuck watching Schneemann at 2B until Britto or Bazzana are ready. Britto is injured and Bazzana just came on a lengthy stint on IR. I would not trade Clase because I don’t believe teams get any real value in return for closers.

Santana can take a hike, the return would be extremely minimal. I want him gone because he takes at bats away from Manzardo.

My biggest worry is they trade Kwan. The fan base would have a hard time stomaching that one.

Also, DeLauter out 6-8 weeks after having wrist surgery. He’s brittle.

I think out best lineup would be

Manzardo at 1b
Martinez at 2b
Arias at SS
Jose at 3rd
Kwan at LF
Lane at CF if he can get out of his slump/get healthy already...
Jones RF
Naylor C

Rocchio DH

Santana/Fry DH

we still desperately need a CF. I had hight hopes Thomas would do something.

Not saying it will definitely continue ...... but the Guardians are 8-2 in their last 10, have won 4 in a row, and have the hardest part of their schedule behind them.

Detroit has been playing bad baseball for awhile and are 1-9 in their last 10 games.

The trade deadline will be interesting.

Yeah, Detroit has really come back to earth. That helps

Do we think that gap is surmountable, though?

Well I believe we have six games left against Detroit and are now down by eight games. I’m not sure they will catch them but it is definitely possible.

From what I read, our remaining schedule is easier then theirs.

I can see this gambling issue getting more and more prevalent. It's so easy to manipulate a game, even little ways like one pitch

Might have to eliminate micro bets altogether.
