He’s been one of the best pure corners in the game since being drafted.
Under-appreciated at times, even by DTers here. We’ll miss him when he hangs em up.

My bad. It feels like every season he is put with a concussion or calf injury

That’s great news, especially given the state of our LB core. Someone needs to get JOK in a bacta tank so that they can play together again some day.

I don't know if it will ever happen but how great would it be in Carson turns out as good as these early indications say and JOK comes back, and they can play together in the middle of the defense.

There are difficult decisions to make for the Browns.

Flacco most likely represents the best opportunity to win games from the start of the season.

At the same time he obviously is not the future.

This is Pickett's last chance to be a starter in the NFL. He knows that. If he cannot win the starter's job. There really is not much he can offer.

The rookies Sanders and Gabriel have to show they have a future in the NFL.

What will the Browns do?

Good news about both Pickett and Jones.

Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

For sure. I really hope that we can stay healthy this season.

I feel like one of the biggest differences between a bad team and a good team are the injuries.

I agree with that to a great extent. But man did that Lions team put up a great run with a multitude of inujries last season.

I like Diabate, ever since his rookie year. He’s flashed, good athlete but he is running out of opportunities. Third year.

He played well the last two seasons and he can play all the LB positions. He needs to work on his tackling but he knows that and he is.

As of now Joe is our starting QB and probably will be opening day. He gives us our best chance of winning. Hopefully in time one of the others can step up and be a viable starter.

ANALYSISNotes: Myles Garrett doesn’t practice, gets ‘precautionary rest’by Scott PetrakAugust 2, 2025

BEREA — Myles Garrett wasn’t on the field Saturday as he worked out inside.

Coach Kevin Stefanski told reporters before practice the All-Pro defensive end wouldn’t participate.

“I’m going to hold Myles out of today’s practice, just precautionary rest,” Stefanski said.

Kenny Pickett still determined to win starting job despite missing time, not being able to scramble with hamstring injury

Oftentimes when a veteran gets a day of rest he watches from the field. Stefanski was asked if Garrett got the day off or it was precautionary due to injury.

“Just taking care of him,” Stefanski said.

Garrett, the 2023 NFL Defensive Player of the Year, is off to his usual dominant start to training camp, making life difficult for the offensive line and spending a lot of time in the backfield.

Another defensive starter didn’t practice.

Cornerback Greg Newsome II was on the field but didn’t participate after landing on his left arm Friday when he leapt to break up a pass. He injured the shoulder and didn’t finish practice.

“He’s really day-to-day,” Stefanski said.

Shedeur Sanders held out of team drills after reporting arm soreness early in practice

The defense has taken some early hits. Linebacker Jordan Hicks retired at the start of camp, and cornerback Martin Emerson Jr.’s Achilles tore Tuesday.

Safety Grant Delpit has been limited to individual drills for several days with an undisclosed injury.

DOG DAYS

Rookie quarterback Dillon Gabriel had rough practices Friday and Saturday.

He was intercepted Friday, had a ball batted Saturday at the line by defensive tackle Shelby Harris and was inaccurate overall. In an early goal line passing drill, he went 1-for-6, including a dropped pass.

Zone Coverage Podcast

“Dillon, who wants to be great and wants to be great at practice, there’s times that you’re going to go through a tough period out here at practice, a tough seven-on-seven, a tough team period, whatever it may be,” Stefanski said before practice. “And then you really try to learn from those reps.”

TO THE GROUND

The Browns had a live tackling period, their second of camp.

This one wasn’t as action-packed as the debut Wednesday, with Stefanski quick on the whistle in an attempt to prevent injuries from defenders driving the ball carrier to the ground. Linebacker Mohamoud Diabate made a high tackle of running back Jerome Ford after a long run down the sideline.

** Inside runs and perimeter passes were the focus of some of the drills.

LINEUP CARD

Offensive lineman Teven Jenkins and cornerback Tony Brown II returned to team drills after missing time with undisclosed injuries.

** With Newsome out, Chigozie Anusiem got a lot of time with the starting defense.

** Linebacker Devin Bush was the signal caller with the second-team defense.

** Tackle Sebastian Gutierrez, who was claimed off waivers Friday, joined practice after it had started.

TOGETHER AGAIN

Rookie Mason Graham, the No. 5 pick, has already spent a lot of time with veteran Maliek Collins. Not only do they attend defensive tackle meetings and go through drills, Graham and Collins worked out in Houston between minicamp and training camp.

“It’s been fun. I trained with Mason a lot this offseason, too,” Collins said. “So working with him and seeing how he moves and just pushing each other to get better.

“He asks a lot of things, but we go in there, we have fun. We really just vibe off each other and just create our vibe how we want to rush together, how we want to play together, what type of swag we want to play with.”

Collins said Graham invited himself to the workouts in Houston.

“He was just like, ‘Hey, bro, I’m pulling up,’” Collins said. “So I was surprised, but I was happy to have him there.”

EXTRA POINTS

The biggest crowd of camp showed up for the 9:30 a.m. practice. The bleachers were full and fans stood around the field.

** Panthers coach Dave Canales said he’ll play quarterback Bryce Young and the starters in the first two preseason games, including Friday against the Browns.

** Joe Flacco threw passes to his four boys after practice.

I think Joe will start week one.

It’s early but we (Berry) might have wasted a 3rd rounder on Gabriel. From what I’ve read he’s been stinking up the joint.

Pickett has a hammy. Sanders arm is sore.

Joe will be the guy to start the 2025 season.
