No speedy trial could also mean they are working on a settlement, no? Then that part is over, and the league makes a suspension decision. I would think that is what is probably happening here. Why else waive your right to a speedy trial. Settle with plaintiff. Then take the Commissioner's suspension. Then move forward. Best case for Judkins and the Browns at this point.

A criminal trial has nothing to do with a monetary settlement with the plaintiff. That's a civil trial. In a criminal case you would have to reach a plea deal with the prosecutor that would lessen the charges or have the charges dropped outright.

There is no level of sucking we haven't seen; in fact, I'm pretty sure we hold the patents on a few levels of sucking NOBODY had seen until the past few years.

Davenport was FOS before the case was dropped. Let's hope the law of averages means he will be right about Judkins not being suspended.

I don't know where the NFL has actually overreacted in cases like this. I still have no idea what the NFL will do but it's pretty hard to dispute video evidence. At least for most people.

Wonder if Browns sent a message concerning CONDUCT when signing this guy- like lose of money for any more domestic violence issues, will he get same money in his slot after public screwup.....time will tell.

This does not mean that the Browns or the NFL couldn't suspend Judkins; the issue is, however, that Judkins is currently not under contract. We'll see when the contract comes down the line, and when the NFL concludes their investigation of Judkins and formalizes any punishment. After missing all of training camp up to this point, it is inconclusive how soon the Browns will have the former Ohio State running back ready to go with just one more preseason game left after Saturday's matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles (that Judkins will not play in at this point).
