I would think that is what is probably happening here. Why else waive your right to a speedy trial. Settle with plaintiff. Then take the Commissioner's suspension. Then move forward. Best case for Judkins and the Browns at this point.

A criminal trial has nothing to do with a monetary settlement with the plaintiff. That's a civil trial. In a criminal case you would have to reach a plea deal with the prosecutor that would lessen the charges or have the charges dropped outright.

Davenport was FOS before the case was dropped. Let's hope the law of averages means he will be right about Judkins not being suspended.

Video evidence she was not injured when she claimed she was is very favorable for Judkins. I don't know where the NFL has actually overreacted in cases like this. I still have no idea what the NFL will do but it's pretty hard to dispute video evidence. At least for most people.

Wonder if Browns sent a message concerning CONDUCT when signing this guy- like lose of money for any more domestic violence issues, will he get same money in his slot after public screwup.....time will tell.

NFL insider Jordan Schultz then added that while he has been told that Judkins will return to the team and that it "should likely happen in the near future." This does not mean that the Browns or the NFL couldn't suspend Judkins; the issue is, however, that Judkins is currently not under contract.

We'll see when the contract comes down the line, and when the NFL concludes their investigation of Judkins and formalizes any punishment. After missing all of training camp up to this point, it is inconclusive how soon the Browns will have the former Ohio State running back ready to go with just one more preseason game left after Saturday's matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles (that Judkins will not play in at this point).

If something happened then why did the prosecutor drop the case based on video evidence that she was not injured well after the alleged incident? It seems you are asking the wrong questions. I think all the Browns are waiting for is the all clear signal from the NFL. As of now the NFL hasn't said a word about what they are or are not "convinced" of. Do you have anything that might suggest otherwise?

Earlier this morning, Dianna Russini sent out a tweet that three teams, including the Cleveland Browns, were making calls in search of running back additions. Three weeks ago, this would have made sense to me. After letting Nick Chubb walk away, there were some serious questions about the depth of this position.

But now this raises a lot of questions. Is there a lack of faith in Jerome Ford? Does Andrew Berry not think they will be able to get a deal done with Quinshon Judkins before the start of the season? Or is this just Berry doing his due diligence on the position with a low likelihood of anything happening?

Though Cleveland second-round pick Quinshon Judkins will not face any charges, he and the Browns still have been unable to reach a deal and may not until the end of any NFL investigation.

As we are now less than a week before NFL rosters must be cut down to 53 from 90, there will be a lot of trade activity around the NFL, but it’s usually involving players at the bottom of the depth chart and late-round picks.

Seeing the Browns are inquiring about running backs today still doesn't add up. With Judkins (who remains unsigned) and Dylan Sampson from the draft and Ahmani Marshall looking strong in the preseason, it felt like Berry was going to have a tough decision on who to cut (between Marshall and Pierre Strong Jr).

If the Browns added a running back at this point via trade, they would be looking at cutting both Strong and Marshall, and would need to carry four running backs into the regular season, with Ford restructuring his deal in May that all but locks him to the roster in 2025.

Remember, the Browns are always making phone calls and are always active in monitoring trade values, so I would say that is all this is, and don’t expect them to make an addition at running back before the start of the season.

At this point the hold out is not about legal issues or suspension it is about the contract. Is it wanting a fully guaranteed contract? Are the Browns unwilling after his legal issue to give him a fully guaranteed contract? Maybe he does not want to sign with the Browns for less money than Ohio gave him last year? Either way this contract needs to get resolved and the team can move forward. It is getting ridiculous.

Exactly. I don't recall anyone saying or reading about character issues with Judkins. The incident in July, to my knowledge, was the first and only issue. Why do some people on this board fabricate things?
