TCU has looked impressive

"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Jeudy is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Tillman is flanked out wide to the right. Judkins and Ford are split in the backfield as Flacco takes the snap ... Here we go."

Dillon Gabriel holds the NCAA FBS record for the most career starts by a quarterback with 63 starts. He played for three different teams during his six-year college career: the UCF Knights, Oklahoma Sooners, and the Oregon Ducks.

He mastered three systems.
He clocked a throw at the Senior Bowl at 74.9 mph. Josh Allen was 62.
He outplayed Sheduer who was considered by all to be a higher draft selection.
He amassed 18,722yds. throughout his college career, the second most in Division I football history, behind only Case Keenum's 19,217.

I liked how he played in the pre-season.

I want to see him get his shot if Joe falters or gets injured.

He out played Shedeur???? Really!!!

I sure did not see that. He threw a pick 6 in a game. I saw that. He muffed a hand off to a RB. I saw that. I sure did not see him outperform Shedeur. Shedeur struggled holding on to the ball too long in his last game I agree. But he performed really well in his first game. Looked really good. Also, played in that game against Carolina's 1st team. I don't put much stock in preseason games with either player DTR played good for the Browns in the preseason. Gabriel will be nothing more than a career back up. He is too short too small to amount to anything as a starter. I see Shedeur as an eventual starter in the NFL. He is on the small side but possesses much better size than Gabriel. Better arm talent than Gebriel. Better accuracy on passes than Gabriel. What he lacks right now is the ability to turn his back to the defense and make quick decisions. I don't see either player being the Browns starting QB. That player will be drafted in 2026 draft. Worst decision Berry made in the off season was trading Pickett. If Flacco gets hurt this season will turn real ugly real fast. But then that will put an end to the Berry Stefanski regime, and we can find a GM and coach that don't draft midgets to play QB.

Yes, Gabriel out played Shedeur by such a large margin that the media that had been carrying Sander's water even had to admit that Gabriel was the clear QB2.

Shedeur can control how he drops back. Gabriel can't control pass catcher gator arms.

One operated like a seasoned vet. The other operated like a prima ballerina.

Shedeur gonna be putting that "arm talent" to work as a wrist watch model in no time if he can't clean up his movement in the pocket and speed up his reads. ...But he could possibly fix those things and he is a good thrower, which appears to be why they kept him around, for now. He doesn't seem to be correcting his mistakes, though, so I have some doubts.

Concur with that. Both are rookies and made mistakes, but it was pretty clear to see who was ahead.

Gabriel is not a starter, and we are already making excuses for his bad play. He was far and away the worst draft pick in the last draft and he is the reason if this team sucks this year that Berry and Stefanski cannot be trusted to pick the franchise QB of the future next year.

...a 3rd round, rookie QB not starting against a brutal opening schedule surprises you?

Let's see them actually play in games that count before talking about far and away worst picks.

Then you must have also seen the TE stand there with his arms beside his body making zero attempt to reach out to catch what was a catchable ball for him. Or did you miss that part? And BTW- excuses aren't on video for all to see.

DG ran a nearly perfect NFL style 2 minute drill to lead the Browns to a TD. I know you believe you know more than an NFL coaching staff.

So let me ask you, if DG turns out not to be a starter, how many third round and later OB draft picks turn out to be starters? Dear Lord man.

I must ask, after reading the posts you have made this morning, who peed in your Cheerios?

And DTR looked like a super star in preseason games with the Browns. Gabriel is too short and too small to ever amount to anything in the NFL. Trading Pickett will be the downfall of this year's team. If Flacco gets hurt, it will look like it did when DTR was under center. Berry and Stefanski will need held accountable for their poor decisions at that time.

DG is a much superior QB to DTR. It's not even close. I'll try this again.................

So let me ask you, if DG turns out not to be a starter, how many third round and later OB draft picks turn out to be starters?

BTW- Drew Brees, Russel Wilson, Fran Tarkenton and Kyler Murray said to tell you hi. There's more of you keep going on about height.

Yeah, and Drew Brees, Russel Wilson, Fran Tarkenton, and Kyler Murray are all far superior QB's to Dillon Gabriel. There is a reason he had to stay 6 years in college. He is not an NFL QB. When he has to replace Flacco and falls on his face that should end the Berry/Stefanski tenure with the Browns. They have shown no ability to identify QB's besides Kirk Cousins that Stefanki has tried to land multiple times and never can.

DG hasn't played a single down in a regular season NFL game. You have no idea how good or bad he will be in the NFL. You have nothing to base that on. DG may turn out to be just as good or better than the QB's listed. I have no idea either.

Please tell me when the HC is responsible for "landing a player"? When did the HC start negotiating and making offers to players? When did the HC manage the salary cap that dictates how much you have to offer a QB in the FA market?

Kirk Cousins signed a four-year, $180 million contract with the Atlanta Falcons in March 2024, which included $100 million in guaranteed money. His guaranteed salary for the 2025 season is $27.5 million, and the team activated a $10 million roster bonus in March 2025.

Can you tell me if the Browns had the room under the salary cap to match such an offer? And if not can you tell me what that has to do with Kevin Stefanski?

When ranting on the internet keep in mind that facts actually matter.

Bill Belichick's debut as the North Carolina HC didn't look pretty. A 48-14 loss with the home town crowd mainly gone by the 4th quarter.

Great to see! I think they earned it but with Penn State winning so convincingly you never know for sure how the rankings might turn out. I've seen some pretty strange rankings in the past.

I think the rankings are pretty spot on. Ohio State got the biggest win from the match up with highest ranked schools. LSU made a nice jump with the actual best win of the weekend going on the road and beating a top 5 team and was rewarded by climbing 5 or 6 spots to number 3. Penn State won big but also was not tested and was at home. So, staying at #2 seems about right.
