Yesterday, FATE mentioned the engravings. I kept thinking they were on the gun barrel, so I didn’t find anything, but this was a press release where the Governor talked about the engravings being on the bullet casings, hence I was looking in all the wrong places. https://www.reddit.com/r/Damnthatsinteresting/s/uDmHP4pcnvHe mentions on one hand “Fascists take this” or something similar and then later had one that said “If you read this, you are gay.” I’m not much of a gamer, but it appears from the comments that he put arrow marks that would signify dropping a bomb on a target from some video game. So far, from the press conference and everything learned - I am sure more will come out - it appears the kid was relatively normal on the surface. Smiling selfies on vacation. Doesn’t have those “crazy eyes” you see with almost every one of these shooters. My guess is some perfect storm of psychotic break perpetuated over time + isolation (playing video games constantly alone) + radicalization of some form. One thing is for certain that he planned this very well for someone who was off his rocker. It seems the one thing he didn’t plan very well was what he was going to do afterward. All just my $0.02 based on my currently limited knowledge. We’ll know more I’m sure in the coming hours and days.

As usual, that poster is way off base. The whole conversation between the two was way off base. You have one poster who’s making it a point in this thread to talk about ANTIFA while bible thumping and villainizing the entire left and another poster who immediately made it about Trump. This is what I was talking about yesterday. This is what we’ve become. Both need to be told to sit in a corner. I’m tired of it.

Political violence is the worst thing that can actually rip this country apart at the very seam our for fathers sewed.
That said karma has its way of taking care of fascists and anti-fascists.

J/C Let's see how trump is handling this and the difference between how he has handled this compared to similar events when they happen to democrats........... President Donald Trump addressed the incident in a video where he blamed the "radical Left" for heated rhetoric that he said was "directly responsible for the terrorism that we're seeing in our country today."
"It's long past time for all Americas and the media to confront the fact that violence and murder are the tragic consequence of demonizing those with whom you disagree day after day, year after year, in the most hateful and despicable way possible," Trump said in the video. But several others have been quick to compare Kirk's death to that of Minnesota House of Representatives speaker emerita Melissa Hortman of the Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party earlier this summer. Hortman was shot and killed in her home in what officials called a political assassination. Here is what the president said about the two incidents: Donald Trump on Charlie Kirk's death: 'Great guy from top to bottom' Trump posted on Truth Social shortly after the incident occurred. "We must all pray for Charlie Kirk, who has been shot. A great guy from top to bottom," the post read. "GOD BLESS HIM!" Trump confirmed Kirk's death in another post hours after the incident, saying "no one understood or had the Heart of the Youth in the United States of America better than Charlie." Trump's video from the Oval Office also honored Kirk, calling him a "patriot, who devoted his life to the cause of open debate and the country he loved so much, the United States of America." The White House announced a presidential proclamation ordering flags to be flown at half-staff until Sept. 14 in his honor. On Sept. 11, Trump said he will award the Presidential Medal of Freedom posthumously to Kirk. What did Trump say about Melissa Hortman? On June 14, Rep. Melissa Hortman, her husband and their golden retriever were shot and killed in their home. The suspect was indicted by a federal grand jury in July and is also accused of shooting and injuring another state lawmaker and his wife earlier the same day. Investigators say the attacks were researched and planned, and the suspect had a list of mostly Democratic lawmakers and their addresses. "I have been briefed on the terrible shooting that took place in Minnesota, which appears to be a targeted attack against State Lawmakers," Trump said in a June 14 Truth Social post. "Such horrific violence will not be tolerated in the United States of America. God Bless the great people of Minnesota, a truly great place!" Days later, Trump said he wouldn't call Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, suggesting it would "waste time." Hortman was not mentioned in Trump's Sept. 10 address touching on several recent instances of political violence, including his own survived assassination attempt and the shooting Rep. Steve Scalise, R-Louisiana in 2017. He did not mention other attacks on Democrats including an arson attack at Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro’s house, a kidnapping plot against Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer and an assault on former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's husband in their home. https://www.usatoday.com/story/news...harlie-kirk-melissa-hortman/86089962007/

I think a conversation needs to be had about radical political influencers, akin to what oober softly indicated yesterday. I don’t think now is the right time to get into it, but I think one needs to be had, perhaps in a new thread when the dust settles and we can approach this from a more objective than a raw approach.

A perfect example of rhetoric seen these days.
It's rare, if ever, that this clown apologizes for the things he makes up. And because he is a popular public figure, people will believe him.... and trust his words. This happens ALL THE TIME and it's terrible. He deleted his tweet because so many people called him out on it. These situations are not irregular.
They are frequent. They are common.

As tired as you might be of it, ignoring what the man who is president of this country does and says that adds to this violence and hate is something many don't believe is wise. It's certainly not all about trump. This was a tragic event and two little girls will now grow up without a father. But turning a blind eye to the twisted way trump is leading his party to hate is something many of us believe we should never do. He isn't just some rando on the internet or simply just another talking head.

This happens ALL THE TIME and it's terrible. That's been the typical pattern since he first came down that escalator in 2015. Oh, you were referring to Stephen King. It's a good thing that guy isn't president huh?

I'm glad they caught the guy and that his dad did the right thing. But man, as you said, how hard would it be as a dad to find that out and being in that situation must have been. I don't know if his dad was a deputy or not. It doesn't matter. If he was in contact and didn't turn him in, he risks his career and free life as well as the other members in the family. To me it wouldn't be a hard call at all. Emotionally distressing, but not hard. Sorry Son, I love you and always will, but I am not going to allow your stupidity put the rest of this family in jeopardy.

I don’t think Trump’s comments afterwards helped at all. In fact, I wish he wouldn’t say anything at all in situations like this. You obviously know where I stand on him across the board. Just the rabbit hole those two were going down on this thread was getting insane.

I think we're on the same page here. I should have phrased it better. Having to do this to your own son would be a very painful thing to have to do. As for myself I've never had to face anything close to that situation so I don't know first hand. But I would imagine I would be asking myself where I went wrong. It doesn't mean this father did anything wrong. I know many households who raised their children well and have well adjusted and productive children. Then there was this one child..... I think you know what I mean.
But I think it would be only natural as a parent to question what it was you missed. What you didn't do or didn't see that you should have.
I feel so badly for everyone involved in this situation. From the victim, to his family, to the students who had to witness such a tragedy to the shooters family. When such an incident occurs there ends up being a very long list of victims in its wake.

That’s well said. I think, as a parent, I blame myself a lot for even just the little things. While it is completely within the realm that this parent did nothing at all to create the situation, if it were me, I feel like I would always feel like I did something wrong, despite an abundance of facts to the contrary.

They are frequent. They are common. I hope all these instances are handled consistently (called out and the person takes accountability).

That said karma has its way of taking care of fascists and anti-fascists. The first step is acknowledging the problem... check. The next step is NOT perpetuating it. Or are you just acknowledging that violence is bad and ignoring the 2.5 pages of conversation of one of the root causes?
