Is there any relevance for such a distinction?

The religions share the same roots. Jesus quotes the Old Testament. Many (Most?) Christian Bibles contain both Old and New Testaments. Christianity sharing principles with Judaism doesn't make those principles less Christian.

Are there some subsets of "Christianity" that only follow the New Testament? Sure. Basically all religions have various sects that splinter off and pick and choose what to follow.


Personally, I don't really care what they based it on. We need to adapt to present circumstances. How best to do that is the question we should be asking. Unfortunately, those making and interpreting the "rules" now feel much less well intentioned than the founders and have amassed much more power.

When white people get hired over much more qualified candidates, what do you call that? When a loyalty test means more than being qualified, what do you call that? Is doing ones bidding despite what's right or wrong mean more than being highly qualified for the job? See I believe many miss why DEI started in the first place. The dichotomy between Old and New Testaments is why I can't take either all that seriously. There's some good in there. But there's a whole lot of awful, too.

It's true how much having a child can mellow someone out. I mean just look at Old Testament God compared to the New Testament for an example.

The Old Testament was the teaching for the Jews. The teachings of Christ was the message and teachings given to the Christians via the New Testament.

But I get what you're saying. That's why when they bring up abortion and use religion as the reason they stand against it I point out that God commanded every first born child in Egypt be killed.

Then there's the fact that according to the Bible earth was populated twice through incest. Once at the beginning of creation and again by Noah's family after the flood.

I'm much more of a New Testament Jesus guy myself. All Christian religions say he was sent to earth as a teacher of Christianity, our Savior and died for our sins.

But I do get what you're saying. I understand why so many are skeptical and I would never try to convert anyone or try to influence their religious beliefs or lack of them. I live in a country where people are free to believe what they want to believe. There's also the fact that there's a lot of hate in the hearts of self proclaimed Christians these days. And there is nothing about any of that which is attractive unless they're only Old Testament people while ignoring the message of Christ.
