Wow! Two and a half months since the last post in a "Dem" thread? This place is like, well, Lib City.
Here's The 'Sheed's latest temper tantrum. Toddler off her meds or fifth stage of menopause? You make the call. She's flipping a lid to express her right to still call everyone fascists...
It's odd how one side always used free speech as a method to spread hate now using a feeble attempt to point the finger in the other direction. Odd, bit not unexpected.

Of course that's in no way what they said. But parroting the lies of trump seems to be your newest MO. But Kilmeade did on FOX and Friends did say he was in favor of murder in plain English and he's still on the air. Where is your outrage over that? Not one peep from you and your kind about it. I know you can't see this because you hate to see your twisted version of the truth from anything but your side.............
On Sept. 10, Kilmeade and others were on “Fox & Friends” discussing the fatal stabbing of Iryna Zarutska in Charlotte, North Carolina. The man accused of killing her reportedly suffers from mental illness and was living in a homeless shelter at the time. During this conversation, cohost Lawrence Jones said that unhoused people who refuse treatment for mental illness should “be locked up in jail,” to which Kilmeade replied that they should be subjected to “involuntary lethal injection.”
All of your faux outrage over people that never condoned Kirk's murder but not a word about FOX News broadcaster actually supporting the murder of mentally ill, homeless people. This is who you are now.

I was tempted to look back and find similar situations where politicians on one of the sides acted similarly disgusting.
But I didn't.
Even if I wasn't as busy at work as I am right now, I don't feel like kicking off the latest "both sides do it". I'm so sick of this type of behavior from our politicians.
There is no level of sucking we haven't seen; in fact, I'm pretty sure we hold the patents on a few levels of sucking NOBODY had seen until the past few years.
Nobody was actually hanged. Nobody called for anyone to be hanged. So what about it isn't protected? You may argue that it's protected by freedom of expression rather than free speech. But it's still protected.

I find it odd that you folks whining about free speech weren't too concerned about it when President Trump had many of his social network accounts terminated.

""The Board found that the two posts by Mr. Trump on January 6 severely violated Facebook’s Community Standards and Instagram’s Community Guidelines. “We love you. The Board found that, in maintaining an unfounded narrative of electoral fraud and persistent calls to action, Mr. Trump created an environment where a serious risk of violence was possible. At the time of Mr. Trump’s posts, there was a clear, immediate risk of harm and his words of support for those involved in the riots legitimized their violent actions. As president, Mr. Trump had a high level of influence. The reach of his posts was large, with 35 million followers on Facebook and 24 million on Instagram.""
So in your world a private company enforcing it's terms and conditions of use of their SM platform is the same as government regulated Free Speech? So I guess you are equally up in arms at the many many Truth Social account that were permanently closed due to individuals posting pro-Dem and Anti Jan 6th posts? Yep - sure you are.

You assume I was against what Facebook did. As for Truth Social...I don't even know what that is so I don't have a comment on that.
As I said in my previous post, Free Speech does have parameters, and it does have consequences. The problem is in the interpretation. Most times it depends on who is talking and who is listening as to where those parameters reside.
I am as guilty as all that when typing on this board that in exercising my free speech I know if my intent is good or being used to irritate someone.
If everybody had like minds, we would never learn.
With all due respect Peen - you wrote: ""I find it odd that you folks whining about free speech weren't too concerned about it when President Trump had many of his social network accounts terminated.""
I responded by pointing out why Trump had accounts suspended and why it is different than a discussion about 'Free Speech' ... I didn't assume you were for or against FB or whatever, in the end it doesn't matter because what is or isn't on FB isn't actually free speech, you need to comply with the terms and conditions of a private company. Beyond that I haven't commented much other than to ask where free speech ends and incitement begins.

It's obvious to see the difference between what private businesses do and when the government interferes and threatens businesses with punishment for not silencing their political opponents. At least for anyone bothering to admit it. And then there are people like yourself who try to compare apples to oranges while making excuses for government interference in free speech.
And don't bring up how Democrats interfered in people posting nutty Covid cures and conspiracies that would only lead directly to more American deaths during a pandemic. That's another stupid non point people such as yourself tend to bring up.

Calling dissenting opinions about covid and covid vaccines nutty is wrong. Covid in the US became a political topic. The vaccine has been proven to cause many other issues but let's not discuss them let's just block those opionons right?

The lone serious issue with any COVID vaccines available today was the risk of myocarditis in young males who took the Pfizer vaccine. This side effect is extremely rare, and the overall benefit of the vaccine FAR outweighs the risk... with the usual preface of you should heed your doctor's advice regarding this risk.
Other side effects/risk that were identified were actually associated with the Jansen and/or Astra Zeneca vaccine, which is a traditional type of vaccine vs the mRNA. One or both of those were pulled off the market in the USA due to these risks.
Dissenting opinions aren't necessarily wrong. Leaning on opinions that run counter to verified science, on the other hand, is nutty. And the underlying reasons behind doing that, in this case, are wrong.
If you are at a heightened medical risk of being affected by the COVID vaccine, then don't get the COVID vaccine. Hopefully you live among folks where you can take some comfort that others are getting vaccinated and therefore your risk of infection is still lowered. As always, listen to your doctor... not TV/internet personalities or environment lawyers.

Only your side made it a "political topic". For normal people it was a national health emergency that was killing thousands of Americans daily. You mean rare side effects like every other medication does? Death isn't one of them.
Dissenting opinions are one thing. Disseminating false information and quackery that kills people is a different matter all together. Covid killed over 1 million Americans. And the very thing you are promoting here helped kill a lot of them. But MURICA! Freedumb!...... right?

That is your opinion. I know people in the medical field that states they were many ways to treat covid but the government held them back because they wanted 1 way to treat everything. So while Dems made all the wrong decisions like the New York Governor who put covid patients in nursing homes they did not allow medical officials to treat the causes. I had covid and the Dr even told me good luck when I asked if they had anything to treat the issue. That is all I needed to know.

Sure. "I know people" won't work. there are nt jibs in every profession. And there was a time that if you got Covid you were at that point on your own. At that point all a doctor could do was wish you good luck. Taking the vaccine AFTER you got Covid was too late. Later they did develop a medication that helped lessen Covid symptoms after you got Covid if you caught it early.
That's the issue. I don't try to make excuses for people like Cuomo. I also don't point out what one man did and use a plural to describe him. He is a Democrat, not Democrats.
What I am posting is factual. Making claims based on zero evidence like you are doing is opinion. The CDC was not "The Dems" no matter how much you wish to live in some fantasy word that it was.
Of course we now have RFK Jr. and Dr. Oz as people running things so it very might well be political now.

Anthony Fauci was appointed Director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) by President Ronald Reagan in 1984. In this long-held position, he became a key figure in the federal response to the COVID-19 pandemic and advised two presidents.
Under President Donald Trump: Fauci served as a lead member of the White House Coronavirus Task Force, which was created in January 2020 to coordinate the government's pandemic response.
Dr. Fauci served as NIAID Director from 1984 to 2022. He oversaw an extensive research portfolio of basic and applied research to prevent, diagnose, and treat established infectious diseases such as HIV/AIDS, respiratory infections, diarrheal diseases, tuberculosis, and malaria as well as emerging diseases such as Ebola, Zika, and COVID-19.
Dr. Fauci was awarded his degree as a Doctor of Medicine from Cornell University Medical College in 1966. He subsequently completed an internship and residency at The New York Hospital-Cornell Medical Center, New York, NY. In 1968, Dr. Fauci joined the National Institutes of Health as a Clinical Associate at the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID). In 1980, he was appointed Chief of the NIAID Laboratory of Immunoregulation, a position he still holds.
And RFK Jr. is a conspiracy theorist who isn't even a doctor. They depend on people like you.

I agree with most of this. Only two things I take issue with. One, because it's just plain false. The other because it's pretty thin on perspective.
First -- the risk of myocarditis in young males who took the Pfizer vaccine is 38 per million. The risk of dying from COVID among that group is between 20 and 50 per million, depending on region. So, saying "the overall benefit of the vaccine FAR outweighs the risk" is FALSE.
Next -- since Omicron we've learned that COVID gives not one $%^ if you are vaccinated or not as far as being infected or lowering someone's ability to spread the virus. Now we're at a point where only 1 in 5 Americans are even receiving the boosters. How would this hold any water... "Hopefully you live among folks where you can take some comfort that others are getting vaccinated and therefore your risk of infection is still lowered." Lower my risk by what? One hundredth on one percent? When you match facts and math, this statement sounds more like virtue-signaling than anything else.
I'm not heaping scorn as much as I'm pointing out the (still) ongoing demonization of those who haven't been vaccinated. It's absurd, especially since 89.4% of the population has been infected by COVID whether vaccinated or not. Too many people shouting "Science!!" while totally ignoring the fact that the same nucleocapsid antibodies are present in those who have been infected whether vaccinated or not.
I don't care what degrees someone has. I have multiple degrees myself. In the US no one gets to determine what goes in my body besides me. Trying to force the vaccine on people was wrong and I don't care how smart someone thinks they are. He should have to pay for everyone that has suffered side effects from the vaccine. Including a study to all of the early deaths unexplained deaths in young people since covid.
"The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other peoples' money." Margarat Thatcher
Your response made me realize that I may have been responding more to the tone of his post than anything. Case in point, I don't believe that Day of the Dawg is an adolescent/young male... and yet he felt compelled to post (the one I responded to). I'd even hazard to guess that he doesn't even know the specific vaccine-related side effects identified and which vaccine they're associated with... only that "vaccines = bad". Look, I actually don't begrudge anyone not getting the vaccine for legit reasons (and someone else's medical stuff is none of my business)... but let's not pretend that's what's behind this debate. Same poster then doubled down in a subsequent post that he trusts RFK Jr (he's a lawyer, not a doctor).
Similarly, I can also understand the sensitivity behind "vaccine shaming". The only argument (if you want to call it that) is that that whole hysteria peaked when people were, in fact, dying from COVID. I also think there was a certain level of anger seeing countries like South Korea respond to the pandemic very differently than us, and consequently have very different outcomes. There were some extreme reactions to an extreme situation.
