Ryder Cup used to be my #1 sporting event in my entire calendar.
Such incredible pressure representing your country - brilliant, can't tear your eyes away TV if you get into it.
The more things change the more they stay the same.

Unfortunately USA has not had a good showing of late
"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Jeudy is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Tillman is flanked out wide to the right. Judkins and Ford are split in the backfield as Flacco takes the snap ... Here we go."

I love golf, play the damn game, but Ryder Cup has never been a thing for me. I’m Canadian so US versus Europe doesn’t float my boat. I usually root for Europe because the fans on US soil tend to get drunk, then loud and obnoxious.
I don’t care who wins. The four majors mean a lot more

I though they had chance to make it interesting in today's afternoon pairings. I turned it off after being glued to it since Day 1. The Massacre at Bethpage Black.

It's just not much of a sport of interest on this board. Over the years i have talked to 4-5 different posters but it just doesn't get any sustained conversation. We made a nice comeback today, but fell short of retaining the cup.

at least we made it somewhat more respectable today but the difference was too great

Ever since the abuse that Colin Montgomery took way back when I've found the Ryder Cup a poor representation of what competitive golf should be. Somebody even threw a beer at Rory McElroy and his wife today, drenching her. I like watching the majors, not this horse crap..

Yes, I read that. Disgusting, and I say the same thing when Canadians act boorish, like when they’re mad at Trump and boo the US anthem at hockey games. That stuff IS embarrassing.
His wife took a lot of verbal abuse.
This is what Tom Watson had to say:
"I'd like to congratulate @RyderCupEurope on their victory," Watson said on social media. "Your team play the first few days was sensational. More importantly, I'd like to apologize for the rude and mean-spirited behavior from our American crowd at Bethpage. As a former player, Captain and as an American, I am ashamed of what happened.”

The Ryder Cup endorses good nature fan interaction. What happened this weekend was not good nature at all.

They should have never let him on the tour.

In all seriousness though, they should just move the tradition to Europe. They don't seem to have these issues every other year. It's an embarrassment that a group of people can't keep it together for a full day, even if they are selling alcohol at the event...

Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

Most common folks know how to act, unless they can’t handle their drink, or don’t understand the etiquette, which can also apply to the more cultured group, so to speak.
The vocal, hammered minority were bad apples who spoiled (somewhat) the barrel at the Ryder Cup. When someone yells at McIlroy that he isn’t very good at golf, well, that’s flat-out stupid.

Way off base. The social class of an individual has nothing to do with being a gentleman with honor and knowing proper etiquette. Being nice and respectful doesn't require a certain amount of money. It's totally free. It's all about choice, the choice to act with grace or not.

Everybody know you don't yell and scream when players are trying to make a shot. Everybody knows you shouldn't start cussing at the top of your lungs in public. Everybody knows you don't start tossing beers at people. Some choose to do that.

Not that I'm judging and it is difficult to see exactly what hand the beer came from, but it sure looked like a group of 18-25 year olds crowd where it happened.

Agreed, but when you have a $100 in your bank account and care enough about a sport to spend the entire load on a ticket to the event, you are MUCH MUCH more likely to care about the etiquette than the person with $1,000,000 in their bank account buying several tickets and the recipients of those tickets not paying a dime for them... These are the ones that typically end up doing stupid stuff at inappropriate times.
