What Is Democratic Socialism? Democratic socialism, a growing U.S. political movement in recent years, lands somewhere in between social democracy and communism. Like communists, democratic socialists believe workers should control the bulk of the means of production, and not be subjected to the will of the free market and the capitalist classes. But they believe their vision of socialism must be achieved through democratic processes, rather than revolution.
Democratic socialism is an ideology that combines a commitment to a socialist economy with a democratic political system. Unlike authoritarian forms of socialism, it seeks to achieve its goals through peaceful, legal, and electoral means, rather than through revolution.
Why would people willingly want the government to take large portions of their current freedoms. Socialism in all forms is nothing but communism. To vote for that trash is too willing turn over rights and freedoms to someone else. I don't get it. If you own a home in the US, you are in the top 5% most wealthy people in the world. Look at California and some other large Democratic led States the American dream of working, owning a home, and raising a family is dying and people want more of this and not less. I don't get it!!!

Socialism Socialism is a broad sociopolitical and economic ideology that advocates for social, public, or collective ownership and control of the means of production and distribution. The specific form this takes can vary significantly.
Economic model: Envisions collective ownership of industries and resources, with the government often playing a strong role in economic planning and distribution of wealth.
Political system: Socialist governments have historically existed in both democratic and authoritarian forms. This is a key point of distinction from democratic socialism, which explicitly rejects authoritarianism.
Means of change: Can pursue change through both revolutionary and reformist means, depending on the specific strain of socialist thought.
Communism
Communism is a specific, revolutionary form of socialism based on the theories of Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels. It seeks to create a classless society and, unlike other forms of socialism, has historically relied on authoritarian rule.
Economic model: Aims for the complete abolition of private property and class distinctions, with all means of production and consumption owned in common by the community.
Political system: In practice, communist states (such as the former Soviet Union and China) have been totalitarian, with a single-party dictatorship controlling all aspects of the state and economy.
Means of change: Proponents believe a violent revolution by the working class is a necessary, and often inevitable, part of overthrowing the capitalist system.
Democratic socialism
Democratic socialism advocates for achieving socialist goals through peaceful, democratic processes, and is defined by its explicit commitment to a democratic political system. It opposes authoritarianism and seeks to expand democratic principles into the economy.
Economic model: Aims for social ownership or control of the means of production, but often allows for some market activity and private businesses, particularly small ones. It seeks to address inequality by democratizing economic institutions.
Political system: Committed to a multiparty, representative democracy, and respects civil liberties like the freedom of speech and the press.
Means of change: Proponents work within existing democratic frameworks to achieve systemic change, using elections and reform to transform the economy.

It's still communism no matter how people want to sanitize it.
It's not, per the post directly above yours (that you replied to).
There is no level of sucking we haven't seen; in fact, I'm pretty sure we hold the patents on a few levels of sucking NOBODY had seen until the past few years.
