SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- Mike Tyson was arrested for driving under the influence and possession of cocaine after police stopped him leaving a Scottsdale nightclub early Friday.

Sgt. Larry Hall said the heavyweight boxer was stopped after his car almost struck a sheriff's vehicle while leaving the club at about 1:45 a.m.



"He showed signs of impairment, and voluntarily submitted to field sobriety tests," said Hall, a member of the Buckeye Police Department who was working in the area as part of a holiday DUI task force.



Hall said Tyson was placed under arrest after "showing more signs of impairment" during the field sobriety tests.



Police subsequently searched Tyson and found cocaine on him and in his car.



No one else was with Tyson at the time, Hall said.



Tyson was booked at a Maricopa County sheriff's jail, and he was expected to have an initial appearance before a judge later Friday to determine bail, Hall said.

I sat next to Tyson 8-9 years ago as he took some kids out to eat at Chi-Chi's on Rockside and 77. While not a hair taller than 5'9", the guy was built like a brick you-know-what. I couldn't imagine if he would've been all coked out and decided to "resist" arrest.

Firstly,Tressel has won so many bowl games in Arizona (with yet another one a little over a week away) that they call their police the "Buckeye Police Department".

Secondly,the officer was lucky he didn't get his ear bit off.

And thirdly,I doubt Tyson will be a repeat offender because at the rate he's going,he won't be able to AFFORD cocaine! Now the DUI? That's another matter.

Maurice Claretts list:

-In July 2003, Clarett became the center of an academic scandal when a teaching assistant told the New York Times that Clarett had received preferential treatment from a professor; the investigation later concluded that there was no solid evidence of academic misconduct.

- Clarett was then suspended by Ohio State for the 2003 athletic year after being charged for filing a false police report claiming that more than $10,000 in clothing, CDs, cash and stereo equipment were stolen from a car he borrowed from a local dealership in September 2003.

- On January 1, 2006, police announced that they were searching for Clarett in relation to two incidents of armed robbery that took place at 1:46am outside the Opium Lounge danceclub in Columbus. Clarett is alleged to have robbed two people with a .45 caliber handgun and then escaped in a white SUV with two unidentified persons. Clarett reportedly made off with only a cell phone valued at $150 belonging to one of the victims.

-In the early morning hours of August 9, 2006, Clarett was arrested in Columbus after he made an illegal U-turn and led the police on a chase in a sports utility vehicle reportedly belonging to his uncle. After driving over a police-mounted spike strip, the chase ended in a nearby restaurant parking lot.

- Police said they were forced to secure a cloth around Clarett's mouth after he allegedly spit at the officers and called them "...... haters" during the arrest. According to Columbus Police Sgt. Mike Woods, the officers discovered a hatchet, a loaded AK-47 variant, a Hi-Point Pistol and two other loaded handguns in his vehicle along with an open bottle of Grey Goose vodka.

-Officials investigated allegations that Clarett was associated with an Israeli organized crime leader

Has anyone realized that Tyson was booked at a Maricopa County jail? This is the place with the famous or infamous Sheriff who houses his prisoners outside in tents with no AC. He makes them wear pink underwear and eat several day old balogna sandwiches. God does have a sense of humor!.

Somehow, I think Tyson will actually enjoy that.

You know that this guy could have been someone very special for a long,long time if he had better advice after his father figure trainer died. What a waste of talent and pure power.
