The Browns haven't won a game in the Pacific time zone since 2012.
Against the Oakland Raiders, 20 -17
The Browns haven't won a road game since week two of 2024 against Jacksonville.
And the last rookie QB to win his first start was Eric Zeier back in 1995.
Since then 0- 17 rookies have not.
This does not feel like a winnable game.

Daunting odds no question.
We are not a good team to boot.
However, The Raiders are not a good team either.
We have a good defense. Capable of turnovers and winning on their own.
Offense? With Sanders making his first start?
I hope he plays great. Hope doesn't score touchdowns.
I have not seen the Raiders. We have the same record. We outscored them 162 - 155. We have given up less points. 234 - 253.
It might come down to the play of Sanders and if he turns it over.

I hate saying this but it is the reality of the Browns situation.
I hope we lose.

Past history indicates we probably will lose this game. Honestly, I only see us winning 2 more games this year at best. We have to hope that the teams we're competing with for the one of the top 3 picks lose too. Their seasons are over too.

The hope is that of the quarterback needy teams we pick first.
In the end if we get to select one of the top three guys we could do well.
That is always a big "if" no matter when you select.
I have not zeroed in on quarterbacks yet. So, I don't have a favorite.
What I have seen so far is encouraging. There are some skilled guys who will be available.

The only problem I see with that is a team like the Titans for example. It seems as though they may pick before us and they just picked their QB last year. That to me makes it quite unlikely they will select a QB. But I also believe that creates a scenario where their pick may very well be available for trade. Even if a team or two who selects ahead of us doesn't need a QB that will in no way prevent a QB needy team from picking ahead of us in the draft.
Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

My hope is that we don't have to use our 2nd #1 to move up in this draft. We really need that other #1 to select an OT or a WR. Bone is right, we need to lose as difficult as that is to swallow but this isn't the first time is it?

I would hate to see the Browns be forced to use that 2nd first round pick to trade up to select a QB too but we really have no idea how things will unfold between now and the draft.
I think everyone understands that Flacco isn't a great QB but it was certainly felt he could hold the fort down this season. But as we all saw with our own eyes with this OL and with no legitimate #1 WR, even he looked like warm poop on a cold morning. Steam everywhere.
He hasn't exactly lit it up in Cincy but you can see a huge difference between his play there and his play here. That's all about the supporting cast.
I think where the debate comes in is how much better does that supporting cast have to be? I mean we had the prime example of what an elite LT looks like in Joe Thomas. But with a very talented QB, do you really need a "Joe Thomas"? With a better QB do you really need a "Jamar Chase" at WR to win?
I'm not saying that shouldn't be the goal. What I'm saying is you aren't going to reach that high a level of improvement in a single season. I certainly think this FO could and should upgrade the WR and OL positions and draft a QB. But the highest likelihood of success with draft picks comes in the first two rounds and drops off quickly. You won't be able to fix everything at the highest level in one off season.
What they may be able to do is upgrade the supporting cast of the QB enough to start winning and continue building from there.
What I'm sensing, and I may be wrong, is that some posters feel if they can't pull off some miracle and fix everything all at once to perfection, they have failed. That is nothing short of setting unrealistic expectations that nobody could achieve in one draft.
I think a combination of the draft and the FA market can bring a noticeable improvement if executed properly. For me that's a reasonable expectation.

I agree with all you stated.
It comes down to the GM.
He has the task of building the roster.
Our first pick is crucial. We have to get it right with whatever quarterback we select.
After that we can go BPA with focus on OL upgrades and receivers.
Free agency is before the draft so, we might get some help there.
Next year the quarterback room will be for sure interesting. Will Watson compete to play?
Gabriel and Sanders two second year guys who are still questionable. Then you have our first round rookie quarterback.
I could see Gabriel or Sanders being traded and keeping Zappe as a possibility.
Watson is a whole different can of worms??
If the rookie were to take camp by storm and show he is ready that would be amazing.
It is is a dream I can only hope for.

I believe the watson option has been removed from the table but I suppose one never knows for sure at this juncture.
