I certainly have no idea as to the direct reasoning but here is the AI version as to why...........................

Eric Mangini isn't coaching in the NFL anymore primarily because his head coaching stints with the New York Jets and Cleveland Browns ended in firings due to inconsistent performance, late-season collapses, strained player/front-office relations (like the "Spygate" fallout with Belichick), and questionable personnel decisions, leading to subsequent roles as a defensive coordinator and later TV analyst rather than a head coach. He was fired by the 49ers as a DC in 2016, marking his last prominent NFL coaching role, after which he transitioned to media.
Key Reasons for His Departure from Coaching:

Inconsistent Results:

After a promising first year with the Jets (2006), his teams struggled, with the Jets missing the playoffs and the Browns underperforming significantly.

Late-Season Meltdowns:

The Jets' collapse in December 2008, losing key games after a strong start, directly led to his firing by owner Woody Johnson.

Locker Room & Front Office Issues:

Reports suggested he had alienated players and clashed with management, with some attributing his struggles to poor relationships and decision-making, such as the handling of the Brett Favre situation.

"Spygate" Fallout:

While not a direct firing reason, the controversy surrounding his time with the Jets and his relationship with Bill Belichick cast a shadow over his tenure.

Downward Trend After Browns:

His time in Cleveland was also marked by struggles and another firing, further damaging his head coaching prospects.

His Last Coaching Role:

Mangini's final NFL coaching job was as the Defensive Coordinator for the San Francisco 49ers, a position he held until January 2016 when he was fired as part of a larger staff overhaul.

Post-Coaching Career:

Since leaving active coaching, Mangini has worked as an NFL analyst for ESPN and other media outlets, becoming a familiar face on football broadcasts.

Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

What Browns head coach, from 1999 forward ..... has gone on to be a head coach elsewhere? Romeo Crennel is the only one I can think of .... and he was terrible with the Chiefs.

Tomlin is a great coach and I'm sure he would get hired if he wants to continue.

He has not won a playoff since 2016. Like most head coaches you need a quarterback.

I doubt he would take a job from Haslam. He would have numerous opportunities to choose from.

I have never heard his name mentioned as a candidate again?

Why?

Turns out players don't like boot camp style practices.

Or being humiliated while watching tape.

Or being alienated.

Or embarrassed in front of their peers.

And oh yeah, he didn't win many games either.

No truer words ever spoken. That's just the way it will be. At least till we finish our 40 year walk through the desert.

We will not lure an elite coach, we can only hope to make one.

It might feel like that for sure. I don't think it would take that long. I think if we survive 2026 then we have a chance to attract a GOOD coach in 2027 once the cap hit for Watson is gone. IF Sanders starts for all of 2026 we will know if we need to draft a new QB in 2027 or not. Let's assume we don't draft a QB in the first 4 rounds this year ... then we will have a huge influx of talent at the WR and offensive line. The thing is ... if we infuse WR talent and offensive line talent to our team in the draft and FA then I think it's impossible for the Browns to have a losing record in 2026 so Sanders will look good and no one will want to kill Kevin anymore.

I also think it would be bad for Sanders if we get a new coach. I feel like he is a QB who NEEDS a stable system and environment where he KNOWS what is expected of him and what he needs to do.

You can't fix stupid but you can destroy ignorance. When you destroy ignorance you remove the justifications for evil. If you want to destroy evil then educate our people. Hate is a tool of the stupid to deal with what they can't understand.

That walk ended in 2004. Since then we have been walking around bumping into invisable walls in the middle of the dessert for the last 21 years.
