McVay fired special teams coordinator Chase Blackburn, according to ESPN. Blackburn's special teams unit has been one of the few weaknesses for the Rams this season, and a punt return touchdown early in the fourth quarter served as the spark for Seattle's comeback win in overtime. he Rams also missed a field goal later in the fourth, a continuation of a rough kicking season in L.A. where they rank 31st in the league with a 75% make percentage on field goal attempts. Blackburn was in his third season as the special teams coordinator in L.A. after spending time as an assistant with the Panthers and Titans to begin his coaching career. McVay has been fiercely loyal to his assistants in his nine years as the Rams' coach, but in a season where the Rams appear to have a team capable of winning a championship, he decided the special teams situation was untenable and needed an immediate change. The Rams are 11-4, but the loss to Seattle dropped them a game behind the Seahawks for the division lead and the all-important No. 1 seed in the NFC that gets the lone bye from the Wild Card round. It's not clear who will take over the special teams unit for the remainder of the season and the playoffs, but the Rams will hope to clean up that operation to avoid losing ground to opponents in the third phase of the game.

Different situations.
The Rams are playoff bound. Change can help them in the here and now. That isn't the case with the Browns. With us, it would simply be taking your pound of flesh.
I don't see any point in that. Vengeance doesn't serve anybody.

We have been told that it is all but impossible to replace the special teams coordinator mid-season. Obviously, this is untrue.
Our special teams have been abhorrent. How many really horrible plays have we had? How many huge mistakes?

Our special teams have been abhorrent. How many really horrible plays have we had? How many huge mistakes? I don't disagree. I would have been in favor 6-8 weeks ago. I just don't see the point with 2 games to go.

Vengeance doesn't serve anybody. I've been saying that for some time now. Only I say that about everything and not just apply it in certain situations.

Swesinger is so over hyped . Some on here think hes the next LT You are wrong on this take. He is one heck of a middle linebacker. Remember he is just a rookie. He has exceeded expectations of a 2nd round rookie. The entire defense seems worn out these last 3 weeks.

I recall when many posters here advocated for Chris Tabor's firing.
Tabor is still in league. The Bills special teams looked pretty good yesterday.

Swesinger is so over hyped . Some on here think hes the next LT He was on track to break the rookie record for tackles (he's got to get to 174, currently sitting at 156 with a game left). He's 5th in total tackles this year (rookies and non-rookies) He broke the Browns rookie tackle record back in late Nov or early Dec.

156 tackles, 2.5 Sacks, 2 INT, 11 TFL, 9 QB Hits, and he called the defense since day 1.
I wish that all of our draft picks could "bust" like that.
