The issue becomes the difference between good and bad options. Not every option means it's a good opportunity. Just "taking a stab at it" because you are desperate only complicates the matter and makes it worse.

If they make a move at the QB position and it flops yet again it will be another black eye on this franchise and be money spent that could better have been spent elsewhere.

Heed the warning sign. Proceed With Caution!

Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

My hope is that Dom brings that beautiful rug with him to Berea.

Cousins has also been told he will be released by the Falcons.

DW is now over 30. He has a twice torn Achilles. Once re-torn and with age it is way more likely to happen again.

Gabriel does not appear to be in consideration as the starter.

I cannot believe just based upon last years results with a four quarterback competition that the Browns are going to go into this year with only what they have.

I have no idea where this all ends. Monken at least adds a different POV.

They have to decide on a plan and a plan B.

I am over the QB project we have embraced much too often. We need to draft one. The two we have each have drawbacks; I don't see either our starter. I will be patient while our new head coach builds a QB room that suits him. We need a fix here. Good luck at the combine.

I agree with both of you. The future QB isn't currently on the team.

The problem lies with options, there just aren't any viable ones for 2026.

I see Monken trying to get what he can out of a combination of Watson and Sanders in 2026. We might add a Gino Smith if he just wants to prolong his career and comes cheap, but my guess is he will hold out until a team desperate enough calls him about a viable starting role. I don't see him being in a huge hurry. I think we have seen what Cousins is post injury. He is another one that the market will probably be pretty dry on, with good reason. Again, if he comes cheap as a stop gap, I wouldn't balk at the insurance.

If none of that happens, I am fine with Gabriel being the 3rd QB. He isn't in the starter mix, I'm fairly certain of that.

I think Monken came in saying he will get what he can out of the two others and evaluate at the end of 2026 season.

I truly believe HIS next actual planned starter is in the 2027 draft.

Doesn't mean we have to lie down and lose 17 games.

I see what you're saying, but I'm running on the assumption that this current offensive rebuild is going to be done over mulitple off-seasons. For the QB position, we have to take our shot when it presents itself. This draft is garbage for QB (unless you're picking 1). FA is garbage for QB. Personally, I hope the org doesn't have any sort of appetite for squeezing water out of a stone when it comes to finding our next QB... at least until we've gotten a good foundation of supporting talent.

When Monken was going through the HC interview process I am sure he was asked about the current quarterbacks.

Now that the staff is pretty much in place. Berry and Monken have to plot their course for the offense.

Because the Browns select 6th and the projected first round QB number two at most. Their first due diligence is on Ty Simpson.

They most likely could draft him 24th. I wonder what grade they will have on him?

They also will have to evaluate the QB class of 2027. That draft will have Manning, Dante Moore, Julian Sayin, LaNorris Sellers, John Mateer, and maybe a few more.

They may decide to go all in for that draft and go with Sanders for 2026.

If so the draft will be telling. They may try to get as many first round picks in 27 as they can. Maybe they trade down twice?

Berry and Monken will make the decisions that will determine how long they are employed by the Browns.

Too much squid ink, Dom.

Thus far most of Berry's decisions have had no direct impact on his employment or he would have been shown the door along with Stefanski.
