Care to share why you have insisted on trashing a thread about a war that threatens the lives of thousands of our military members and is impacting so many other nations under military attack from Iran? Like it's all a big joke to you?

What we know on the 13th day of the US and Israel’s war with Iran (CNN) — Iran’s new supreme leader has delivered his first written message, warning the US and Israel that they must pay “compensation” for their actions and that the key Strait of Hormuz shipping route will remain closed to apply pressure, as the conflict increasingly spreads to the seas. Meanwhile, the International Energy Agency (IEA) has warned that the war is causing the “largest supply disruption in the history of the global oil market,” as a global body of countries agrees to release emergency oil reserves to help absorb the shock. And, US President Donald Trump continues to give conflicting comments about when the war might end. Here’s what to know on Day 13. What’s happening in the region? Supreme leader’s written message: Iran’s new supreme leader Mojtaba Khamenei issued his first message Thursday, calling for unity among the Iranian people and warning that the Strait of Hormuz, a key shipping route, will remain closed as a “tool of pressure.” He warned the US and Israel that they must pay “compensation” for their actions. Strikes target oil: Two foreign oil tankers in Iraqi waters were set ablaze by an Iranian attack, killing at least one person, with 38 other crew members rescued. Iraq’s oil ports subequently completely halted operations. Separately, emergency crews in Oman are battling a fire at fuel storage tanks, after a social media video geolocated by CNN appeared to show an Iranian drone hitting a tank at the port. And Bahrain said that Iranian attacks targeted fuel tanks in the country’s north early Thursday local time. Attacks near strait: A container ship off the coast of the United Arab Emirates was struck by an “unknown projectile” early Thursday – after another three vessels were hit by projectiles near the Strait of Hormuz on Wednesday. So far six vessels have been struck in the Persian Gulf in the last two days. The straits carries roughly one-fifth of global crude oil shipments. Representatives of G7 nations met on Wednesday to discuss possibly escorting ships “when security conditions allow.” Hezbollah and Israel: Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said it carried out a joint attack with the militant group Hezbollah on Israel, striking more than 50 targets across five hours of sustained fire on Wednesday. Israel later carried out a wave of strikes targeting Hezbollah infrastructure across Lebanon, its military said. One strike in the capital Beirut killed eight people, at a beach that was housing many displaced residents. Israel’s Defense Minister Israel Katz on Thursday instructed the military to prepare for expanding operations in Lebanon. Iran strikes continue: Israeli drone strikes targeted IRGC and Basij checkpoints in Tehran, killing at least 10 “security defenders,” Iranian state media said Thursday. A resident in Iran’s capital Tehran recounted a night of terror overnight into Thursday, including drones flying low over residential buildings and a relentless bombing campaign. “I don’t know how anyone can survive that kind of bombing. I really feel like they won’t leave anything behind,” they told CNN. Millions displaced: Up to 3.2 million people have been displaced inside Iran since the conflict with Israel and the US began on February 28, according to the United Nations’ refugee agency. Most of them are reportedly fleeing from Tehran and other urban areas toward the north of the country and rural areas in search of safety, the UNHCR said in a statement. “This figure is likely to continue rising as hostilities persist, marking a worrying escalation in humanitarian needs,” it said. Gulf nations: Kuwait’s international airport was damaged in a drone attack Thursday morning, the country’s civil aviation authority said. Other Gulf states intercepted new waves of Iranian drones and missiles early Thursday morning too, including in the global business hub of Dubai, where a drone fell on a building near the luxury neighborhood of Creek Harbour. What are the other main headlines? Oil supply disruption: The flow of crude and oil products through the crucial Strait of Hormuz has reduced to “a trickle,” the IEA said in its monthly oil report, as it warned of an unprecedented disruption to global oil supplies. Global oil supply would plunge by 8 million barrels per day this month, it said. Emergency reserves: Member countries of the International Energy Agency (IEA) agreed Wednesday to release 400 million barrels of oil into the global market – the largest release of emergency oil stocks in history. Soon after, US President Trump authorized the US to release 172 million barrels of oil from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve beginning next week. Surging prices: Despite the IEA’s announcement, oil prices rose past $100 per barrel again for a period overnight into Thursday – three days after it hit a four-year high. Emergency measures: Several Asian countries are taking drastic action to reduce their oil consumption. Universities in Bangladesh have closed to save energy. Austerity measures in Pakistan have shuttered schools and shifted services online. Vietnam is calling on companies to encourage remote working while Thailand has ordered government workers to work from home. Trump’s speech: Speaking in Kentucky on Wednesday, Trump claimed that “we won” in Iran, without providing evidence. It also contradicts his earlier comment that “we’re not finished yet” with the war. Later that night, he told reporters: “It’s just a question of when, when do we stop?” Scrutiny back home: The Pentagon told US lawmakers in a private briefing Tuesday that preliminary estimates suggest the war cost at least $11 billion in the first six days. And in a rare show of GOP criticism, Republican Sen. Lisa Murkowski slammed Trump’s handling of the war, demanding public hearings and saying that mixed messaging from the administration is leading to confusion. The school strike: The US military accidentally struck an Iranian elementary school likely due to outdated information about a nearby naval base, according to sources who were briefed on the preliminary findings of an ongoing military investigation. The attack killed at least 168 children and 14 teachers, Iran’s state media reported. https://www.wkow.com/news/internati...76fd085-8935-5d55-b6ec-61b24c008f8f.html

you forgot trump said Americans are making money on high oil prices. He said that. Think about that. What Americans are making money on high oil prices??? He was also BRAGGING about releasing a massive amount of oil reserves as if that is a good thing. Keep on believing his BS. How could anyone possibly believe either of these 2 things trump has said as truth?

Don't you get it yet? He tries to seize on any aha moment he thinks he can find to trash a thread about our nation at war and the death of our military troops. Obviously by his actions you can see that.

Oh, c'mon. He's not that bad. It was just a few responses... Trump is doing this for Israel and future construction development work for his family. Trump did this to distract and get his polls up. .Does anyone find it disgusting and disrespectful that trunp wore a baseball cap at the dignified transfer of the 6 dead. I do. It is simply lack of respect. The president disrespecting everyone is a real problem ( he only cares about himself and his family). I am convinced he is doing this so he and his family can do development projects in the future in Israel with less risk. Yep Russia isn't a problem. Its not about a hat its about respect. Hoodies and hats. Absolutely disrespectful. Ok if its raining outside. Any thoughts on Zelensky not wearing a suit? Joe's son had a Crack problem long ago. Trumps son is a coke head making billions. Trump: ‘When oil prices go up, we make a lot of money’ “The United States is the largest Oil Producer in the World, by far, so when oil prices go up, we make a lot of money,” Trump said in a post on Truth Social. https://www.8newsnow.com/news/national-news/trump-when-oil-prices-go-up-we-make-a-lot-of-money/Now he has made it clear on who he thinks "we" are. And it's not "us".

I see you didn't answer my question. Now lets remember, this isn't "your funeral". It isn't your biker buddy Bill's funeral. It's a solemn ceremony of the transfer of the bodies of troops killed in action. Soldiers in their dress blues and the families of those soldiers in attendance.
Would you wear a ball cap to the funeral of a troop killed in battle? I'm just curious. It seems you care more about acting like that's normal than admitting it's not. Yes I would. I wore one at my own mothers funeral. Like I said before y'all acting just like the old Church Folk that you complain about so much. What I am saying is that worrying about stupid crap like this is just that STUPID and a waste of time. It's a solemn ceremony of the transfer of the bodies of troops killed in action I agree and what anybody is wearing does not have any effect on that, just like sitting in church wearing a hat or jeans, or a t-shirt does not effect Church.
I AM ALWAYS RIGHT... except when I am wrong.

So today, along with the market taking a crap again and oil going up again, there was;
a man that went into Old Dominion University classroom and started shooting and killed their director of ROTC and wounded a couple others. His students subdued the man and killed him. Somebody heard the guy say allah akbar as he was beginning to shoot.
And a short time later, somebody drove a car down a sidewalk and into a synagogue/school in Michigan and drove down a hallway. the driver was shot and killed by security. The car caught fire and there was a fire in the school. The only injuries I saw was like a couple dozen police had to be treated for smoke.
And this morning SALEM, N.H. — Stryker, a medical technology company that serves millions worldwide, said it experienced a global network disruption caused by a cyberattack.
A pro-Iran hacking group is claiming responsibility, saying the attack was carried out in retaliation for ongoing airstrikes in the region.
"This is a critical infrastructure type of attack, you know, wipe computers, caused downtime, caused an outage, caused chaos in a critical infrastructure," said Gary Miliefsky, CEO of Cyber Defense Media Group.

YES or NO? No I dont believe trumps BS. Do you ? yes or no? 1 or 2? Here, I'll help you out. This will allow you to not look like such a fool (at least not all the time). Maybe you can actually get to the bottom of your TDS and avoid spreading fairy tales that everyone knows are not true. You'll really have to give it a little effort though. One sure fire helper - quit getting your "news" from Whoopi Goldberg. I colored the ones below that definitely apply to you. I want you to know that there is genuine hope, and acceptance is the first step to personal healing. Unless you're actually just as dumb as a box of rocks, if that's the case, at your age, I really don't think I can help you. And always remember, it's one day at a time. There are even people that go so far as to derail conversations with far-fetched fantasies like "Trump's son is a coke head". First, is there any evidence of that? Second, could this be considered a form of sociopathy? The "Coke Head" AllegationsAs of March 2026, there is no credible or verified evidence that Donald Trump Jr. uses cocaine. Fact-Checking: Multiple viral videos—including ones from his father's second inauguration in January 2025 and a SpaceX launch in 2024—were falsely captioned by social media users to suggest he was using drugs in public. Fact-checkers like Snopes and news outlets such as ABC News confirmed these videos actually showed him leaning down to speak to others or were simply "impassioned" speeches. Response from Trump Jr.: He has addressed these rumors directly, stating that while he had a history of heavy drinking in his 20s (he quit entirely around 2002), he does not use illicit drugs and attributes his energetic demeanor to political passion rather than substance use. Psychology of Derailing ConversationsWhile "sociopathy" (clinically known as Antisocial Personality Disorder) is a specific diagnosis involving a pervasive pattern of disregarding the rights of others, the act of derailing conversations with far-fetched fantasies is more often linked to other psychological traits: Dark Tetrad Traits: Research from institutions like Harvard University has found that people who knowingly share false political information often score higher in "dark" personality traits, including Machiavellianism, narcissism, and psychopathy. These individuals may use shocking claims as a tool for "social signaling" or to gain a sense of power by controlling the narrative. Need for Chaos: Some users have a high psychological "need for chaos," meaning they feel a sense of satisfaction from disrupting social order or causing outrage, regardless of the truth. The Illusory Truth Effect: On a broader scale, many people repeat these claims because they have seen them so often that their brain mistakes familiarity for truth. This isn't necessarily "evil," but it is a cognitive shortcut that leads to the spread of misinformation.
Schizotypy and Paranoia: Some studies suggest a link between sharing false information and schizotypal traits, which include paranoia, suspicion, and disrupted thinking patterns that make a person more prone to believing and spreading conspiracy theories. In summary, while not everyone who derails a thread is a "sociopath," the behavior is frequently a mix of malicious intent to disrupt, a craving for social validation within a political tribe, and cognitive biases that make them blind to reality. You're welcome.

I realize in your world parents of a dead soldier are just "disgruntled MAGA" if they don't vote the way you do, but that's way more of a reflection on you. You're just as disgusting as the dude that left them there to die. Again, I'll take the word of people that were there over some unhinged toddler on DT.
And since you can't type two sentences without a 100% unrelated whatabout; Sleepy sold his influence for billions via a crackhead son... crickets from the brain-dead left.
Now get in the kitchen and make some tea like you were told. And if this makes a lick of sense to you: "But not quite man enough to just flat out be a little b*tch and type it.", you may want to mix in some meds as well. Regarding Sleepy, May I ask for Proof of that please?

Well at least Putin is happy with the war. Not only does he get to help Iranians try to kill Americans, he gets a financial windfall to prop up his coffers and keep his war machine in Ukraine ticking over.

But then you aren't the president of the U.S.A. now are you?

So the guy who has derailed the entire thread about the war in Iran for days is accusing someone else of derailing the thread? Psychology of Derailing Conversations While "sociopathy" (clinically known as Antisocial Personality Disorder) is a specific diagnosis involving a pervasive pattern of disregarding the rights of others, the act of derailing conversations with far-fetched fantasies is more often linked to other psychological traits: Dark Tetrad Traits: Research from institutions like Harvard University has found that people who knowingly share false political information often score higher in "dark" personality traits, including Machiavellianism, narcissism, and psychopathy.

A US military refueling plane crashed in Iraq, killing 6. Here’s what to know SEOUL, South Korea (AP) — All six crew members of a KC-135 refueling aircraft supporting operations against Iran are dead, the U.S. military said Friday, after their plane crashed in western Iraq. The U.S. Central Command, which oversees the Middle East, said the crash followed an unspecified incident involving two aircraft in “friendly airspace,” and that the other plane landed safely. The crash brings the U.S. death toll in Operation Epic Fury to at least 13 service members, seven of whom were killed in combat. About 140 U.S. service members have been injured, including eight severely, the Pentagon said earlier this week. Here’s what is known so far about the tanker, which is the fourth publicly acknowledged U.S. aircraft to crash during the war against Iran: Cause of crash not immediately known The U.S. Central Command said all six crew members on board the crashed KC-135 have been confirmed dead. It said the circumstances of the crash are under investigation but that the loss of the aircraft was “not due to hostile or friendly fire.” A U.S. official, who also spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss the developing situation, said the other plane involved was also a KC-135. Yechiel Leiter, the Israeli ambassador to the U.S., wrote on X that the other plane landed safely in Israel. Yang said it would be rare for a refueling tanker to be downed by enemy fire because such operations are usually conducted in the rear of combat zones. The crash came after three U.S. F-15E fighter jets were mistakenly downed last week by friendly Kuwaiti fire. The KC-135 is a long-serving tanker plane The KC-135 Stratotanker is a U.S. Air Force aircraft used to refuel other planes in midair, allowing them to travel longer distances and maintain operations longer without landing. The plane is also used to transport wounded personnel during medical evacuations or conduct surveillance missions, according to military experts. Based on the same design as the Boeing 707 passenger plane, the tanker has been in service for more than 60 years, supporting the U.S. Air Force, Navy and Marine Corps as well as allied aircraft, according to an Air Force description. The aging plane is set to be gradually phased out as more of the next-generation KC-46A Pegasus tankers enter service. Despite upgrades over the years, the KC-135s’ age has fueled concern about their reliability and durability. “The last of these planes were produced in the 1960s,” said Yang Uk, a security expert at South Korea’s Asan Institute for Policy Studies. He added that the transition to the KC-46A has progressed more slowly than expected. According to the Congressional Research Service, the Air Force last year had 376 KC-135s, including 151 on active duty, 163 in the Air National Guard and 62 in the Air Force Reserve. A basic KC-135 crew has three people: a pilot, co-pilot and boom operator. Nurses and medical technicians are added in aeromedical evacuation missions. Refueling typically happens at the back of the plane, where the boom operator is located. A fuel boom is lowered to connect with fighters, bombers or other aircraft. On many of the planes, the boom operator works lying face down while looking out of a window on the underside of the plane. Some KC-135s can also refuel planes from pods on their wings. The tankers also have room to carry cargo or passengers if needed. Refueling tankers could play an increasingly important role if the Iran war drags on, as U.S. aircraft may need to fly longer missions to pursue Iranian forces retreating deeper into the country, said Yang. Past accidents KC-135s have previously been involved in several fatal accidents. The most recent occurred on May 3, 2013, when a KC-135R crashed after takeoff south of Chaldovar, Kyrgyzstan, while supporting the war in Afghanistan. In that crash, the crew experienced problems with the plane’s rudder, according to a U.S. Air Force investigation. While they struggled to stabilize the plane, the tail section broke away and the plane exploded midair, killing all three crewmembers onboard. The most serious mid-air collision involving the plane happened in 1966, when a B-52 bomber carrying nuclear bombs struck a tanker near Palomares, Spain. The accident caused the tanker to crash, killing four onboard. The disaster led to an extensive decontamination effort to clean up nuclear material dispersed when conventional explosives in the hydrogen bombs detonated after hitting the ground. https://apnews.com/article/us-iran-tanker-aircraft-crash-iraq-kc135-c337359a58be6280dc96fdbf1cb48a5b

The Pentagon is moving additional Marines and warships to the Middle East as Iran steps up its attacks on the Strait of Hormuz, according to three U.S. officials. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has approved a request from U.S. Central Command, responsible for American forces in the Middle East, for an element of an amphibious ready group and attached Marine expeditionary unit, typically consisting of several warships and 5,000 Marines, the officials said. The Japan-based USS Tripoli and its attached Marines are now headed for the Middle East, two of the officials said. Marines are already in the Middle East supporting the Iran operation, the officials said. The move comes as Iran’s attacks on the strait have paralyzed traffic through the strategic waterway, disrupting the global economy, driving up gas prices and posing a major military and political challenge for President Trump. A Pentagon spokesperson declined to comment. https://www.wsj.com/livecoverage/us...unit-to-middle-east-WeoODg0XIIe31W3np2aI

To repeat what I have said a couple of times: - The world is not safer. - There does not seem to be any clear goal. - Regime change has happened but without any change in what is likely to be the attitude or malicious nature of the regime. - Without boots on the ground in a guerilla style war in a vast country - a regime change for the better is virtually impossible. - The economy has stalled or tanked - depending on how you want to look at it. - Oil up - ergo inflation up. - No-one has won anything. - NATO allies are further alienated. - Putin is now happy because he's going to be raking in much needed cash from the sale of Oil. That will fund his war in Ukraine. Ukraine might be the biggest losers in all of this. - 8 months ago or whatever the same stooges were crowing that there was a perfect strike that had annihilated Iran's nuclear ability. Here we are again. - An illegal war of choice. There was no imminent theat. Trump got played by Netanyahu. - Indiscriminately bombing the hell out of a country - no matter how evil the leadership - is only going to lead to future generations of terrorists in the entire region who believe the USA is evil and the enemy. - listening to Trump talk about EPIC FURY like he's in the WWE - watching Call of Duty video montages ... is sickening and embarrassing. Iran was not a threat. So why the war? ... I'd probably take a mix of all of the following. - Played and out manoeuvred by Netanyahu. I put this at #1 because it's what Rubio initially stated and I don't think he's able to make that agenda up by himself - the trouble was it made Trump look weak and a fool so that narrative got squashed. - Trump thought it would boost his popularity - traditionally that's what happens when countries go to war. - If the excursion becomes a war and is still going in August Trump may use it to delay or cancel mid-terms. - It's a distraction from the Epstein Files. - Trump - ever worried about his legacy, wants to do something memorable not realizing the scale of the challenge to implement real lasting change: i.e. Iran becoming some form of democracy. I do not believe Trump gives a damn about the 30,000-40,000 protesters who died recently. If he cared about them - why get into bed with a guy whose committed genocide and slaughtered far more recently while also committing numerous war crimes. I do not believe Iran was close to nuclear capability - the strikes a while ago destroyed or set them back years. Oman has stated that Iran had agreed to concessions never before accepted by Iran before the war. No wonder folks don't want to actually talk about anything of substance.

And this is why they are where they are...... Energy Secretary Wright says U.S. ‘not ready’ to escort oil tankers through Strait of Hormuz yet https://www.cnbc.com/2026/03/12/ene...ankers-through-strait-of-hormuz-yet.htmlTrump administration underestimated Iran war’s impact on Strait of Hormuz The Pentagon and National Security Council significantly underestimated Iran’s willingness to close the Strait of Hormuz in response to US military strikes while planning the ongoing operation, according to multiple sources familiar with the matter. President Donald Trump’s national security team failed to fully account for the potential consequences of what some officials have described as a worst-case scenario now facing the administration, the sources said. While key officials from the Departments of Energy and Treasury were present for some of the official planning meetings about the operation before it started, sources said, the agency analysis and forecasts that would be integral elements of the decision-making process in past administrations were secondary considerations. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and Energy Secretary Chris Wright have been key players throughout the planning and execution stages of the conflict, the sources acknowledged. But Trump’s preference of leaning on a tight circle of close advisers in his national security decision making had the effect of sidelining interagency debate over the potential economic fallout if Iran were to respond to US-Israeli strikes by closing the strait. And now it may be weeks before the administration’s efforts to alleviate the intensifying economic fallout take hold, officials said Thursday, including high-risk naval escorts of oil tankers through the strait that the Pentagon believes are currently too dangerous to conduct. The president, meanwhile, has continued to downplay the tumult in energy markets and the danger. He told Fox News that oil tanker crews should “show some guts” and go through the strait. The reality in the strait has left diplomatic counterparts, former US economic and energy officials and industry executives who spoke with CNN in a state of confusion and disbelief. More than a dozen vessels have been attacked near Iran since Feb. 28 There have been at least 14 reports of attacks on ships in the Persian Gulf and near the Strait of Hormuz since war broke out between Iran and the US and Israel, according to UK Maritime Trade Operations. The incidents have effectively halted traffic through the vital oil corridor. “Planning around preventing this exact scenario — impossible as it has long seemed — has been a bedrock principle of US national security policy for decades,” a former US official who served in Republican and Democratic administrations said. “I’m dumbfounded.” Shipping industry executives have made regular requests to the US Navy for military escorts, all of which have been rebuffed. In regular briefings for industry participants in the region, US military officials have repeatedly made clear they have not received orders to begin any escort operation and the risks to US assets remained extremely high, according to two executives with knowledge of the matter. Bessent told Sky News’ Wilfred Frost on Thursday that those escorts would begin “as soon as it is militarily possible.” “That was always in our planning, that there’s a chance that US Navy, or perhaps an international coalition, will be escorting oil tankers through,” he said. But the path to this point, sources said, appears to mark the complex convergence of geopolitical assumptions, energy market forecasts and cross-cutting strategic priorities. Lawmakers pressed top Trump administration officials during a recent classified briefing about the lack of an operational plan to re-open the strait as the conflict continued, according to multiple sources familiar with the closed-door session. An administration official disputed that there were no plans, noting that the US military has long planned and trained to address a major disruption to the critical thoroughfare for global commerce. But there was no indication that there were any near-term solutions to the problem that threatened to consume the international economy given the scale of the threat still posed by Iranian assets in and around the strait, the sources familiar said. The reason the administration underestimated Iran’s willingness to close the strait, multiple sources said, was officials believed their doing so would hurt Iran more than the US — a view that was bolstered by Iran’s empty threats to act in the strait after US strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities last summer. The White House touted the administration’s planning in a statement on Thursday. “Through a detailed planning process, the entire administration is and was prepared for any potential action taken by the terrorist Iranian regime,” spokeswoman Anna Kelly said, while touting the US military’s success. “President Trump has been clear that any disruptions to energy are temporary and will result in a massive benefit to our country and the global economy in the long-term,” she added. After this story published, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said on X on Friday that Trump was “fully briefed” on planning for the possibility of Iran closing the strait. During a press briefing Friday, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said the idea that officials underestimated the war’s impact on the Strait of Hormuz is “patently ridiculous.” “Of course, for decades, Iran has threatened shipping in the Strait of Hormuz,” Hegseth told reporters. “This is always what they do hold the Strait hostage. CNN doesn’t think we thought of that. It’s a fundamentally unserious report.” CNN had reached out to the Pentagon for comment prior to publication. Multiple current and former US officials told CNN that plans for any military action against Iran would account for the possibility of Iran closing the waterway. The US military has long maintained and updated plans to address Iranian military action in the critical corridor. But at a moment where global oil and LNG supplies were plentiful, US oil production sat at record highs and Trump officials were basking in a pliant Venezuelan government and the potential for rapid expansion of new production from a former foe, the global scale of the downside risks was not viewed as a major consideration. Even in weighing the potential for disruption in the strait, the administration has been far more focused on its overwhelmingly positive — if still aspirational — view of how markets would respond to eliminating the threat of Iranian disruptions entirely. “To win in life, you’ve got to suffer short-term pain for the long-term gain, and that’s what we’re in the middle of doing right now,” Wright said in a Wednesday interview on NewsNation. “I think the American people will be thrilled with a peaceful world on the other side and more secure supplies of energy for decades to come.” The prospect of naval escorts On Thursday, in his first public comments since being elevated, new Iranian Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei said the strait would remain closed as a “tool of pressure,” according to a statement read on his behalf on Iranian state TV. Energy executives have conveyed to administration officials they want an early end to the war, according to multiple sources familiar with the discussions. For now, they are wary of putting their assets and people at risk by running tankers through the strait and do not foresee that changing until the kinetic nature of the war slows dramatically, sources said. Military officials have been holding daily calls and briefings with energy industry representatives for the last several days, according to sources familiar. But from nearly the start of the conflict, US officials have told energy company representatives it was not safe enough for the Navy to conduct the escorts in the war’s early days. A US military official told CNN that Iranian drones and missiles, followed by mines, are the chief threat facing vessels trying to cross the strait. In wargaming a possible conflict with Iran in recent years, one of the biggest risks to the US military was ships being packed tightly into the waterways in the strait, Bab-el-Mandeb and Red Sea, vulnerable to attack by Iranian missiles and drones, another source said. Nate Swanson, a former career State Department official focused on Iran, noted that there had been military escorts of oil tankers through the strait in the 1980s, but Iran’s use of drones this time around makes it a very different situation. Military officials have also indicated to energy industry representatives they can’t spare Navy vessels anyway, since they’re already engaged in offensive operations elsewhere. As of Wednesday, there was no precise timeline on when escorts would be available. Wright said Thursday the Navy is unable to escort commercial vessels through the strait, though he suggested that capability could be in place later this month. “It’ll happen relatively soon, but it can’t happen now. We’re simply not ready,” he said on CNBC. “All of our military assets right now are focused on destroying Iran’s offensive capabilities and the manufacturing industry that supplies their offensive capabilities,” he added. Pressed on whether it’d be possible by the end of the month, he said, “I think that is quite likely the case.” It wasn’t clear how aware Trump was of the limitations on naval escorts when he first raised the idea in a post on Truth Social on March 3. He has downplayed the risk to tankers trying to transit the strait, even though Iran has begun attacking ships in the waterway. And while many Republicans are eager for him to refocus on domestic issues ahead of the midterms — and acknowledge Americans’ cost-of-living struggles — he struck a different tone on Thursday, suggesting there could be a benefit to higher oil prices. “The United States is the largest Oil Producer in the World, by far, so when oil prices go up, we make a lot of money,” he wrote on Truth Social, without explaining who he meant by “we.” He added that his military aims against Iran were more consequential than shifts in global energy costs. “Of far greater interest and importance to me, as President, is stoping an evil Empire, Iran, from having Nuclear Weapons, and destroying the Middle East and, indeed, the World,” Trump wrote. Other options to alleviate pressure Administration officials tasked with helping alleviate the energy crisis are eager for tankers to be escorted as quickly as possible, but for now, they’re more or less on the same page about managing the crisis in phases, according to a US official and other people familiar with the matter. Bessent announced Thursday that the Treasury Department is temporarily lifting sanctions on Russian oil stranded at sea.And earlier in the day, the White House said it is considering easing restrictions under the Jones Act, the century-old maritime law that requires goods transported between US ports to be carried on American ships, as part of an effort that might slow the rise in gas prices. “In the interest of national defense, the White House is considering waiving the Jones Act for a limited period of time to ensure vital energy products and agricultural necessities are flowing freely to U.S. ports,” White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt told CNN in a statement. “This action has not been finalized.” There are a wide range of other moves that the administration could take — likely in the form of an executive order — in an effort to ease the rising prices at the pumps. One step being considered is waiving production requirements for gasoline producers during the warm months to reduce air pollution, the sources said. (The evaporation of gasoline into the air is greater in the summer, which is why there are strict requirements then to prevent high greenhouse gas emissions.) An executive order to reduce regulatory burdens on US gasoline producers could help to somewhat lower costs, even in the weeks after the crisis ends, sources said. Yet the effects of such a move are unlikely to stunt the price increases in a major way, experts said. “I think that it would be a very small potential offset compared to the factor that’s driving gasoline prices higher, which is concerns for the physical supply of refined products around the world, and also crude oil,” said Clayton Seigle, an energy expert at CSIS. https://www.cnn.com/2026/03/12/politics/hormuz-trump-administration-underestimated-iranYes, they were so prepared for it that's it's going to take at least a month after the initial attack to escort those oil tankers and they had to lift sanctions on Russian oil to help Make Putin Great Again! No sane person believes the trump administrations BS about that. No wonder trump and his cronies hate CNN.
