Mahomes had the best wide receiver in the nfl to throw to
If he was throwing to Higgins and Landry with Stefanski coaching he would be a 15 to 20
Qb.
Remember Stefanski passed on 3 time pro bowl level qb.

You can't explain away many of the throws and all of the talent Mahomes possesses by simply pointing out the quality of his WR's and TE. The fact the Browns couldn't and still haven't been able to come up with a quality QB is on them and nobody else.

Mahomes was drafted in 2017. That will be nine years ago as of this draft. They hadn't come up with a franchise QB as of that time and they haven't come up with one since. So far it will make six years for this FO alone.

But I get it. To some people it's everyone's fault but those responsible to get that QB.

Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

Not going to pile on for missing on Purdy or Brady. You can choose to pile on if you pass on some of the first round QB's who have gone on to be great ... but personally unless you are on here championing picking a guy above where all the other "experts" claim they should slot

If a franchise is too lazy or lacks the experience to know how to evaluate the QB talent available...that lack of expertise leaves a franchise at a huge disadvantage at evaluating draft talent.

In 2016 the Browns relied on the expertise of a baseball manager preferring to draft a 3rd round QB, Cody Kessler.

Dak Pescott was judged to be "not guilty" for the DUI charge and went on to be named the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year in 2016.

So if a team is great at QB evaluation and know a guy has great potential to be a franchise QB they wait until the 4th round 6th round or the last pick in the draft so select them? For future reference that's nothing more than taking a flyer on a guy.

I get that the Browns have passed up on some QB's they should have drafted and Mahomes in one such example. There are others.

But no team passes up on a QB three or five or six times because they evaluated him so well. If they think there's a good chance he can be the guy they're not going to leave him sitting out there thinking they're the smartest guys in the room and he'll still be on the board whenever. That doesn't make any sense.

Remember, 31 of 32 teams passed on these guys several times.

Cleveland Browns Didn’t Do ANY Homework On Dak Prescott?

One local scribe is reporting the Cleveland Browns did no homework on Dak Prescott leading up to the 2016 NFL Draft.
Dak Prescott wasn’t on a lot of teams radars entering the 2016 NFL Draft. Sure, teams were intrigued by Prescott, who had a great career at Mississippi State, but no mock draft expert had him pegged as an elite, future franchise quarterback.

Every team passed on Prescott, until the Cowboys nabbed him in the fourth round.

The quarterback starved Browns answered their quarterback need by selecting Cody Kessler in the third round.

Many pundits thought the Browns reached on Kessler, but the #GPODAWPUND had no choice to trust Hue Jackson.

To Jackson’s credit, Kessler’s come as advertised. He’s accurate and doesn’t turn the ball over. Unfortunately, he doesn’t win any games, either.

With Kessler’s selection, we know the team was searching for a quarterback in the third or fourth rounds.

Character issues were raised over Prescott, who was charged with a DUI before the draft. He was acquitted of the charges in July, but the incident may have caused some teams to back away from making him their pick.

Surely, the Browns had to have done their homework on Prescott. He was an exciting talent during his college days, setting 25 records at Mississippi State.

At the VERY LEAST, The Browns probably talked to Prescott before the draft, right? You don’t need to be in public relations to know the DUI is a bad look. But one would hope the Browns would question Prescott. Perhaps the kid just had a bad night. Maybe they would’ve found out the kid already has a graduate degree and is mentally tough.

Well if you thought any of this, you’d be wrong.

The Browns haven’t had a franchise quarterback since Bernie Kosar was the staring act back in the 80s. However, it doesn’t appear Sashi Brown and Paul DePodesta even kicked the tires on Prescott.

The team did no homework on Prescott, and didn’t even talk to him, according to ESPN Cleveland’s Tony Grossi.

When Grossi asked the Browns about his status, the organization didn’t supply a comment.

Dak said they never talked to him. I asked Browns. They declined to answer. https://x.com/bostondawg49/status/798579891709087744

So not only did the Browns pass on an obvious future franchise quarterback (Carson Wentz), but their new Harvard educated front office failed to due diligence required to recognize Prescott. And in truth, it shouldn’t have been that hard.

At DT, context and meaning are a scarecrow kicking at moving goalposts.

I get it. You found someone who agrees with your take. I'll say it again, if Dallas or any other team actually though Dak was a franchise QB he wouldn't have been sitting there in round 4.

Allow Occam’s Razor to be your friend.

We were still dealing with the Manziel fiasco. We weren't taking a QB that just had a DUI.

Like any business, there are always factors outside the norms of what many would consider protocol. This is a perfect example.

Another was the LB (forget his name) that was cut immediately after he was accused of white-collar crimes... on the heels of Jimmy's Pilot woes.

Another was the fans' exuberance, and subsequent let down, when the franchise didn't go after Michael Vick when he was reinstated... neither party saw a situation where he would return and play in front of the Dawg Pound. rofl

I Thought Berry did a great Job last night, trading down 3 spots and still getting the guy you targeted and picking up a 3rd and 5th. And then filling a BIG need at WR, wasn't my pick but after calming down I understand why we took Concepcion and can't wait to see him play thumbsup
