I moved to the Atlanta area around 1978.
As a kid I collected baseball cards and adopted the Milwaukee Braves as my team. I liked their uniforms and was a Hank Aaron fan.
Ted Turner started TBS in 1976. It was a super station and all the games were on the local TBS TV station. It was broadcast all across the US. It became the team for many areas across the country because of TBS.
Bobby Cox was the manager from 1978 till 1981 and then again from 1990 till he retired in 2010.
What a run. The Braves fielded many great teams. Won a lot of games.
I was heavily involved in coaching baseball for ten of those years and a big fan of the Braves.
Ned Yost was Bobby's third base coach and a neighbor. One of his sons played ball with my son and was a close friend.
Bobby and Ted were Atlanta royalty. Sorry to hear of their passing. I am thankful for the memories.
