So yesterday was the exception to the rule compared to everything they had seen so far.
Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

So yesterday was the exception to the rule compared to everything they had seen so far. Yes, but Mary Kay and other said it was by far the best performance by a QB so far in camp. Time will tell if he can sustain that level of play or not. It was also the first time a QB had the full complement of weapons working with the 1st team Juedy, Conception, Bond, Boston, Fannon, and Junkins and it looked really good.

At DT, context and meaning are a scarecrow kicking at moving goalposts.

I would love it if any of the three QB's could show consistency at that level. But at this point I'm certainly in wait and see mode.

The Browns are still installing the offense.
Nobody is getting hit. It is early practice.
In a week or two with pads and the offense installed. Things will change.
Daily we are getting a heavy dose about nothing.
I am sorry but I really do not care that DW had a good "practice."
The defense could be good. We open with two road games against the Jags and Bucs. I doubt that we will win those games.
I just do not expect the offense to be ready.

I totally agree 100%. The problem at the moment is the only way to gain any comparison between the QB's is how they are performing at practice. Like you I don't think it's an indication to give us any insight to what happens when the bullets start flying.

It is that time of year everybody is 0-0.
The media wants something good to say or bad. They have to write something.
So we get this daily dump.
The first pre-season game is 8/15. Although the play book will be limited and the defenses will be plain.
At least pads are on and people get hit.
Until we see the team play real games. It will be hard to know much.
I think because of all the changes on offense it will be hard for the offense to find a rhythm early. Especially the OL.
In addition because of the QB battle the guy who ends up as the starter has split first team reps. The receivers are depending on three rookies. KC, Boston and Bond along with the vet Jeudy. It takes lots of time and reps to develop real chemistry between the passer and receivers.
Plus we have entire new coaching staff. I think it is unrealistic to believe the offense will be ready right away.

Once again we agree 100%. But I don't think it's "just the media". I believe not only does ownership and the FO want to pimp the team to get the fans engaged, the coaching staff does as well and they pimp the players and try to say anything and everything they can positive about what's going on. I'm not really saying that to be negative because it's the business they work in. It's their job to promote that business in any way possible. But as an example I've heard Monken praise the progress of every QB on the roster other than Taylen Green and I probably just missed that one. I can't say I blame him. Positive re-enforcement is a great motivator and motivating your players is a big part of the HC's job. But I think we both certainly agree that we are currently in the smoke and mirrors portion of the year.
