Yes, but Mary Kay and other said it was by far the best performance by a QB so far in camp. Time will tell if he can sustain that level of play or not. It was also the first time a QB had the full complement of weapons working with the 1st team Juedy, Conception, Bond, Boston, Fannon, and Junkins and it looked really good.

I would love it if any of the three QB's could show consistency at that level. But at this point I'm certainly in wait and see mode.

I totally agree 100%. The problem at the moment is the only way to gain any comparison between the QB's is how they are performing at practice. Like you I don't think it's an indication to give us any insight to what happens when the bullets start flying.

Once again we agree 100%. But I don't think it's "just the media". I believe not only does ownership and the FO want to pimp the team to get the fans engaged, the coaching staff does as well and they pimp the players and try to say anything and everything they can positive about what's going on. I'm not really saying that to be negative because it's the business they work in. It's their job to promote that business in any way possible. But as an example I've heard Monken praise the progress of every QB on the roster other than Taylen Green and I probably just missed that one.

I can't say I blame him. Positive re-enforcement is a great motivator and motivating your players is a big part of the HC's job.

But I think we both certainly agree that we are currently in the smoke and mirrors portion of the year.

So will that be Monkin, Jimmy or Berry showing us his "O" face?

I think it will be Watson too - and he'll have the first few weeks IMO

It seems that it is Watson's job to lose in preseason. Time for curiosity is passing; some QB needs prepared with expanded reps. This look at all of the room is becoming kind of self-indulgent as far as the Browns "seeing what they have." We have seen it, some of it bad and demanding correction; we can't overlook it much. Let's not be fair to the point of failure handing out reps in rotations. If we are still in this mode, then the QB room hasn't shown enough by now. Act like it matters more to decide than to watch persistently. Others disagree, I am sure. Starter needs more reps to be closer to game-worthy.

I think at this point no matter what is being said publicly Monken is trying to choose between the lesser of three evils. I think what it boils down to is which of the three can implement his offense the quickest.

When you have an open question between three QB's as to which one will be the starting QB, you don't have a QB.

I agree. If posters here are setting the bar at a world-beater level, that strikes me as delusional. We need to impose some "good enough" QBing to let others develop. Everybody needs "real" reps. Somebody is being neglected in prepping to start. Some decisions should not be diluted this much. You are picking half the room with one and two after all. This can be tightened up more, but per pit's insight, Monken needs to make the best bad decision boldly.

At this point I try not be be so hard on Monken. He knew he didn't have a QB on the roster when he took this job IMO. If he thought he did that's on him. The fact he didn't come right in here and name a starter might be one of the smartest things he has done so far. I get what you're saying about having continuity and reps by knowing who you're starter is early on and I agree with you to a certain extent.

But it's still early in the process and being a new HC here he has to at least figure out how each QB can operate within his system. So I think when you look at it from both directions it's six of one and half a dozen of the others.

In all honesty I think we are going to see multiple QB's start over the course of the season anyway so no matter how much continuity they build early on, in the end it won't matter. If that proves to hold true it may actually be better that the rest of the offense is learning to adapt from QB to QB now.

If I'm reading this correctly, Monken might have changed his plans about Sanders going with the 1's???
