Too many people think they're going to get a degree, then get a job sitting in front of a computer for 8 hours a day, maybe working from home 1-3 days a week, and making $80,000 a year. Truth? The trades. Plumber, electrician, road construction, etc. Might start at $50,000, but if your good, doesn't take long to move up. Young man I know: Had a baseball scholarship if he wanted it. Also, had a choice. He took the choice. He's now, when he might have been just graduating college............he's instead making $120,000 a year, and moving up.
But, he travels. (and I know many people that spend a week at a time away from home). He/they work in the heat, the cold, etc.
