If I bought the Browns the first thing I would do is clean house in the front office. Yes, Andrew Berry would definitely be fired.

I would then try and get John Schneider from the Seahawks or Howie Roseman from the Eagles. If I couldn't get one of them, then I would try and get one of the up and coming GMs. Ray Agnew (Detroit Lions), Mike Bradway (Kansas City Chiefs), Ian Cunningham (Chicago Bears), or Ed Dodds (Indianapolis Colts) as my GM. I would stay out my GM's way and let him do his job.

I would scrap the plans for a new stadium by the airport and build it downtown where it belongs.

I would emphasize that it's a new culture and era for the Browns and the fans. Of course winning the SB would be the goal. Not just one, but multiple SBs. I want my team to be a dynasty!

I just don't understand how the Haslams can stand owning such an embarrassing organization. It must be just about money. As long as the Browns make them richer they are happy. That seems to be all they really care about.

No executive worth their salt would leave a successful situation to work for this clown show.

Right now, we're still mired in this terrible situation with DW and his awful contract. We've all had it. We're angry, frustrated, disgusted with the whole situation and what could have been if we never made the trade. That post game conference with him yesterday made things even worse. 4 years gone with 1 to go. We all can't wait for him to be out of Cleveland. I really believe things are looking up with the past 2 drafts, new coaches and the young talent we have on the team but with DW still here it's like living with a ball and chain on our ankles. Like another poster said earlier maybe something can be worked out to end this misery sooner.

It is NOT the front office, it is Jimmy Haslam. He is responsible for the Johnny Manziel disaster, The Watson disaster and the current Sh*t show with Sanders. Other REAL football operations dont have these SCARS on their Resumes. They are smart enough to project and avoid potential problems. Jimmy has welcomed these types of scenarios because it makes him $$. He is a MORON as an NFL franchise owner and an embarrassment to a once proud organization. You cant buy respect it has to be earned.

I imagine being Monken at 65 years old or whatever - this is legitimately the only chance to be a HC in the NFL (he knows it, other teams would never hire him, we gave him a pile of dog crap) ... I wonder if he regrets it yet

"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Jeudy is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Tillman is flanked out wide to the right. Judkins and Ford are split in the backfield as Flacco takes the snap ... Here we go."

That's a great theory. If that's all true, what is he paying Berry millions of dollars a year to do exactly? Do you think Haslam just saw a watson highlight reel and told Berry "We gotta get that guy!"?

Nobody else was willing to give him a shot. And considering the lack of success of the Browns have had it makes me wonder why they did when nobody else would. I mean there has to be some reason for that, right? It's not as if he hasn't been around the league long enough for everyone to get a good look at him.

When it's the only shot you have it's either turn it down or take the only shot you're going to get.

With Jimmy's short history as an owner and the current state of the Browns, Yes "we gotta get that guy" seems like a very plausible action plan based off his report card. Sorry, what else could I base my thoughts on. We are currently a joke and we are possibly hinging our future on a possibility of an Arch Manning. HMM, I believe we will see another Manning refuse to play for an organization.

IMO.

Today I believe the Browns organization represented by Haslam are now meeting.

The meeting initially will be without Monken but including Berry.

They will be deciding how to handle this. A decision will be made. They will inform Monken. They cannot leave him out on a limb to face the press.

Another press conference will be scheduled. They will announce their decision that will include SS as the starter.

Somehow DW will be placed on an unable to perform list. "MUP" mentally unable to perform. It will not be called that but that is what it is. He is mentally unable to face the home field fans.

Home field is about an advantage in playing before the home crowd. Obviously that is not the case.

DW will be allowed to leave and still be paid.

I believe DW's time in Cleveland is over.

You're basing your thoughts on watson strictly based on Manziel which happened less than two years after Haslam bought the Browns as if he didn't learn anything by dictating such decisions several years later. Connecting two totally unrelated events.

You're basing your thoughts on something you have come to believe which causes you to think that he pays Berry millions of dollars a year to evaluate talent, evaluate team investments, manage the salary cap, negotiate contracts along with a host of other duties only to ignore all of that and dictate this trade. You're ignoring that Haslam has put Berry in a position of trust to do a job obviously Haslam has decided he isn't capable of doing or he himself would be the GM and would have no need to pay Berry millions of dollars to do the job. Berry has held this position much longer than any other GM Haslam has hired to date which should make you think he trusts Berry far more than any other GM we have had since Haslam purchased the team.

I have no idea how you reached such a far fetched conclusion but man, that's way out there. If the Browns hadn't been averaging 3.4 starting QB's per season over the last five seasons or they actually had a franchise QB on the roster that may in some way, on a planet far, far away make sense.

But sadly we are where we are and watson may end up being a necessary evil well before this season is over as sad as that is to say.

I believe that the press conference changes everything.

It was unprecedented.

Haslam is the owner. We should know he is not going to sit in his suite at the stadium and be faced with a fan revolt if DW plays.

He is building a new stadium. He begged for forgiveness and a second chance for DW from the fans. And now DW says it is not performance it is personal? The fans pay the bills.

Monken is somehow going to be expected to address the media and act like nothing happened? Business as usual.

I think it is beyond that now.

DW will be persecuted in the media. It has already begun. It will be "the topic tomorrow."

This is not business as usual.

They traded for a sexual predator over four years ago. He has been pretty much terrible ever since. They have dealt with that the entire time. While this press conference was a disaster it wasn't some seismic shift in what people think of watson. Most everyone knew he was a dirt bag before the press conference. If they didn't take some drastic action after the NFL hearing about him being a sexual predator and the results of that hearing, I don't see why anyone would think this is going to be the straw that broke the camels back.

I guess at this point all we can do is just sit back and see how it all unfolds. But one thing I've learned is that business will put up with a lot that our generation never would have for the sake of money and I think this will simply be another one of those times. They know they only have one more season to get through with this clown and I think they'll just hold their nose until that time passes.

You sound like you are Jimmy's Attorney. All of AB's decisions are run through and approved by Haslam. My opinions are based on prior events that have occurred since Jimmy bought the team. The buck stops at Jimmy. You seemed hung up on whatever AB's salary is. Maybe you should check your own biases.

I don't have any bias. It's true that Haslam makes the final call. As the owner he writes the checks. Yet that has nothing to do with who he hired and relies on for the information and opinion on making those final decisions. So far you have offered one example, Manziel. Nothing else.

I'm hung up on the job description of Berry. I'm pointing out what his duties are as an NFL GM. There isn't anything bias about that or are you trying to deny the things I listed are part of his responsibilities as an NFL GM? I pointed out the obvious fact that Haslam has placed a lot of trust in Berry as the GM or he would have been shown the door when DePodesta or Stefanski were fired.

I noticed how you just threw out the word bias without even addressing any of the points I made. You do realize that's not how discussions are supposed to work, correct? Now can you do something besides just throwing out some wild accusation how any of that shows Bias? Good luck with that.

"addressing any of the points I made" That is just your opinion, same as mine. I don't think you made any points. Good luck with that.

Ignoring the points made isn't the same as them not being made..............

So now you think laying out the duties of an NFL GM doesn't make any point. So much for you wishing to address what Berry's job is and what he is responsible for as an NFL GM. But I can understand why.
