Sooga (my daughter) and our son in law have a dog. We have the dog a lot, due to myriad things.
5 weeks ago, they showed up with a "onesie" that said "You have been promoted from dog sitter to baby sitter."
My wife and I are going to be grandma and grandpa!
We were only allowed to share the news today, after they had told all the family, etc. It's been a tough 5 weeks for me, and my wife, knowing we had to keep it under wraps.
But, I don't need to anymore. I'm going to be a grandpa!!!

I can't wait. I mean, I have to, obviously. I'm a very emotional person. When my daughter and son in law told my parents, one of the questions my mom had was "what did your dad say?" Daughter said "he cried" And my mom said "Well, he's always been the most emotional of our kids."
But keeping it silent, until daughter and son in law had told everyone they wanted to, on their schedule, was tough.

I was just thinking about this ..... she couldn't have been much more than a toddler when this site launched?
Now I feel really, really, really old.
I guess that, like many rock bands, I'l have tio to turn the "YTown" name over to a younger poster when I retire.

Thanks, everyone. Just going off memory here: Yes, I change diapers. My wife and I are beyond elated. We can't wait, although that's not how it works. They showed us a video of Sooga after taking the pregnancy test. Her husband was holding their 50 lb dog. She said "Yes, I am". And J almost dropped the dog.
Oh, I'm also an expert at wrapping a baby in a blanket. Young babies like to be wrapped tight - it creates that "back in the womb" feeling for them.
I know most parents get this feeling - when they become grand parents. But for us, it's new. It's exciting.
