Rockefeller set prices low to run others out of business. Just showing that it works both ways, and setting low prices is the common way to run competition out of business. You don't raise prices if you seek to close some doors or make them ripe for takeover. You peg the price lower.

Governments use price supports, but that goes to an entire industry such as dairy farmers to support the price of milk to make sure there is a supply. Running stores is entirely different.

How is it "entirely different"? Do you think people from Manhattan are suddenly going to flock to the ghetto to do their grocery shopping to save a little money?

I find it hilarious that people are throwing such a fit because people in poor neighborhoods are being provided with grocery stores that the free market wasn't providing them. If the free market was providing these grocery stores New York wouldn't have to. It's not like New York is building grocery stores right next to Publix and Whole Foods and running them out of business. But I get it. For some people business is more important than people.

You were saying? Yes, Gary, Indiana which has been without electric for almost two weeks now is a coincidence.

Flint, Michigan who found their water lines were poisoned with lead in 2014 just finished replacing all of those pipes last month is just another coincidence.

Ignorant boomer conservatives will never be convinced that they purposely ignored, or condoned, all forms of racism from the 50s til now.

I think they were provided at one time. They closed because of crime and a lack of people who could hold a job. If the business had been making money, they wouldn't have closed.

And thus the need for people to have a method to have healthy food in their neighborhood. Some people search for why a problem is there even when they are trying so hard to blame the people with BS like this, "a lack of people who could hold a job". Others look for solutions to those problems.

Man arrested after guillotine is found in pickup truck near Capitol

Capitol Police said investigators were looking into why the 35-year-old suspect from California was in Washington.

U.S. Capitol Police on Tuesday arrested a man who they say was carrying a guillotine in the bed of a pickup truck.

Philan-Tam-Duy Le of Julian, California, was arrested on suspicion of “carrying a dangerous weapon” and being in possession of the guillotine, Capitol Police said in a news release.

Police said Le, 35, drove to Washington from California.

“USCP investigators are going through the suspect’s background to learn more about why he came to Washington,” police said in their news release.

Le’s truck was spotted near the Capitol and the Supreme Court, where officers say it was illegally parked.

Congress is in recess, meaning lawmakers are in their home districts, not in Washington.

An Instagram account that appeared to belong to Le included a Story on Tuesday afternoon featuring a video of a man with the guillotine outside FBI headquarters in Washington.

“Outside the FBI building, just eating some cheese pizza,” the man says in the video. The post included the caption “Guillotine adventures” and said, “Capital hill next.”

Capitol Police often make arrests beyond the Capitol grounds, and those incidents are not necessarily politically motivated.

Two questions quickly come to mind...

First, was it an assault guillotine? Because I heard a rumor you can decapitate over 100 people in a matter of seconds with one of those things not that it makes any difference.

And secondly he should have had a sign on it saying "Decapitate Mike Pence" and everything would have been fine. Having something like that on the capital grounds has been show to be acceptable behavior in the past.
