I think it is clear that we don't have a starter.

If we do it will be shocking.

So, the college season begins. I do not know who is the best college quarterback. We don't have the draft order.

All we have is a desperate need.

I am not going to do a mock draft. But what if in the end Arch Manning is drafted by the Browns?

Forget if he is the best. Maybe Moore is the best or some other QB is.

But Arch becomes a Brown.

First off Haslam would probably have a mind orgasm.

Try and imagine the hype. The press conference. He would come to Cleveland like Cleopatra came to Rome.

Talk about red carpet treatment. It would be like the Cavs getting LeBron.

He would be a hero before he stepped on the field.

I like the way Arch improved last season from the start of the season to the end of the year. Shows the ability to adapt and overcome weaknesses found in his game. He is very athletic and has a good arm. I would be ecstatic if the Browns drafted him. The only issue is his last name Manning and unreasonable expectations. Last year he was crowned the Heisman favorite before the season started and before he really saw significant game action. It became obvious that the game was fast for him early last year and slowed down for him by the end of the season. The fans and media of the team that drafts him will expect him to play well above most rookie levels and I would worry those expectations would hinder his growth as a player.

For me, I am more curious about Monken's "type" of QB vs any particular name and how Monken et al will be able to prop up the QB position this year.

I like what I'm seeing out of the skill groups (Judkins and Fannin as well as the earliest returns from the rookie WRs), and I'm cautiously optimistic about our Oline... so if all goes well our rookie QB should have a nice (if young) supporting cast going into next season.

I'm going to have to watch the college season, see the draft order and how things stand then before pontificating about one of several options that we have no idea of yet.

For all we know arch could fall flat on his face this season and not even be in contention. It wouldn't be the first time some big name fell on his face.

I made it clear that it is not about that.

It is hypothetical - purely.

And there is a list of QB's vying for top first round draft picks as well. I mean if you want to get into hypotheticals. I don't have any problem with people going through some far fetched hypotheticals if that's what they wish to do. That's their choice.

But there's at least five or six QB's on the QB watch list this season. It's just a personal choice of my own not to invest going through all of these hypotheticals before we have any type of clear picture if these hypotheticals are a reality. I mean IMO, if people are going to do that they need a thread that involves each of these hypotheticals for each of the first five or six ranked QB's going into the college season. But then as I said, we have zero idea how any of them will be ranked by seasons end.

But hey man, it's cool. To each their own.

The Browns are in the running for the first pick in the draft according to where we are today.

We might trail Arizona, maybe the Jets. But were in the top four by most accounts.

Manning will be one of the top three rated QBs. Most believe he will be the first pick.

Of course this is today and it may go differently. People predict games every week.

The Browns drafting Manning is not a far reach. It could happen.

If it did. It will be interesting to see how Cleveland responds plain and simple.

Hell what we gonna talk about? What the Browns record is going to be?

I sure don't want to talk about DW or SS.

Ok, so, I just logged in. And I thought "What the hell did I do?"

As to the REAL topic: There is a whole season ahead to see how good/average/bad he is.

I thought he was thinking the Browns should draft you next year in the first round to be the the Browns next QB. And then i thought, "Isn't he a little old for that"?

My fear about the 2027 draft..that the guy who drafted Johnny Manziel will ignore how Arch performs during the 2026 season and make Arch the Browns first pick of the 2027 draft, regardless.

Ray Farmer is no longer here. He was fired in 2015. A year after Manziel was drafted.

If Arch is drafted by the Browns, we should see how much we could get in a trade for him to build draft capitol so we can draft our FQB the following year!!! Brilliant!!!! brownie

There are a number of blue chip players who will be in the 27 draft.

Jeremiah Smith will be one of the highest ranked receivers since Julio Jones and Calvin Johnson.

Quarterbacks will include Arch Manning, Donte Moore, CJ Carr, Darian Mensah, Julian Sayin, Drew Mestemaker.

There could be other quarterbacks that enter the picture.

I wonder though if a team in need of a quarterback and had the first shot at one; would not take Manning?

The college season still has to be played. Maybe a QB prospect has a better season than Arch. But if Manning does not look bad. He may still be the first QB taken.

We will have to wait for the draft order. But as of right now most consider the Browns in the running for the first pick.

Nobody knows for certain but I think many of us dawg fans are not to optimistic about this season.

We are going to draft a quarterback. Hopefully we get it right no matter who we end up with.

I'm just going to try and get through what I expect to be another long and painful season before I think about the draft.

In response to some of your comments Bone you are right about this season. I don’t think too many of us are optimistic about it. We just want to see the team gel and young guys develop and improve. As far as a team taking another QB other than Arch even if he looks a little better him I feel pedigree may come into the equation and a team may draft Arch for that reason. I certainly don’t know how other teams will think it’s JMO.

And if we’re really that bad again look at the bright side we won’t have to use any of our built up draft capital to move up in the draft because we’ll already be up there!!!!! thumbsup

This is close to what I felt going into the season that Cody Kessler was named the starter.

I have no faith in DW doing any better than when he last played two years ago. None.

It is not even a matter of his two torn Achilles.

He does not process what he sees. IMO he is going to check down and turn the ball over often.

SS showed that he can improve. How far is not known. But if he cannot beat out DW. That alone says a lot.

I am so sick of losing. And I am afraid there is more on the way.
