I think it makes perfect sense - and it definitely has a big impact. Although - with that said I still think the coaching is also playing a roll. I don't know for sure but I would suspect that in similar situations/games in previous years with KS, there were more penalties. That's just my gut and it could be influenced by my belief Stefanski didn't do much to hold players accountable.

But it's one game and it's preseason - small sample size, it may all go to hell Week 1 proper when we're facing pressure and can't open holes or stop the pass rush etc .... and players have to start to compensate for being out performed by their counter part or being overwhelmed etc.

I guess as far as the Gabriel and the Preseason game, the safest thing I can say is that while it doesn't mean much at all, it left a better taste in my mouth than some of the stuff I've seen preseason.

The two things you want to see out of back-ups on back-ups is to identify the guys who look clear and above the others. If they do that they have proven to be at minimum better players than other back-ups which makes you think the player could become a good starter. Gabe was clearly better than anyone else on the field when he played.

The next, out of QBs is how they managed the O. He looked like a seasoned Vet out there, in total command. It couldn't have been any better, or at least much if total perfection is what we are looking for. We have to remember, Gabriel has less NFL experience than Shedufus. To this point Sanders hasn't looked anywhere near as comfortable.

I guess I like Gabriel - better than Watson (duh!) and Sanders. I'd like to see him given every opportunity and think he's got a better future as a long term Browns backup than Sanders ... but I don't want to use one preseason game to assert that it means more than it did. Your points are spot on.
