The latest episode of the USA getting into bed with Putin, who owns Trump in every negotiation and interaction Trump has ever had with him...

On the back of all these lies and Trump regurgitating Russia propaganda:

“You should have never started it" - On Ukraine 'starting' the war with Russia.
“A Dictator without Elections, Zelensky better move fast" - Countries don't hold elections during wartime.
“He's down to 4% approval rating.” - about Zelensky who was at a 57% approval rating at the time.
“Volodymyr Zelenskyy talked the United States of America into spending $350 Billion Dollars, to go into a War that couldn't be won, that never had to start.” - lmao
He's invited Russia back into the G7.
He's referred to Putin as a great leader who loves his country.
He's just done a deal to give Putin up to $7 Billion ... when EU and all our Western allies are trying sanction Russia and squeeze them financially.
Now Ukraine is facing restrictions on military Starlink services which is supplied by the USA.

It would be funny to compare so many posters talk about the Democrats being "Un-American" - while supporting Trump who has so many stupid/questionable interactions with Putin. The bottom line is Putin is 5 times smarter than Trump and plays him like a fiddle.

Can't wait for someone to question why a Western ally fighting one of the USA's biggest 2 "competitors" should have access to the Starlink system...

Forgot to include the news that the USA has just proposed to unfreeze Russian assets totaling nearly $300 Billion. Assets all frozen by Western allies because of Russia's aggression in Ukraine.

Edit - and I guess because Ukraine has retaliated and hit Russian energy/refineries overnight - Trump is going to blast Ukraine again .... while having ignored the dozens and dozens of times Russia has ignored terms of these agreements in the last 18 months.

Trump waives new Russia sanctions in the "national interests"

President Trump waived new sanctions on Russia late Friday night, saying it was in the "national interests" to hold off on the sweeping levies under the Graham Act that he signed just last month.

Why it matters: Trump is easing American pressure on Russia despite a bipartisan chorus calling for him to do the exact opposite.

It comes a week after his surprise deal to let Russia sell diesel internationally, which Republicans have condemned as loudly as Democrats.
It also puts Republican candidates making their final midterm sprint in the position of having to defend the president's warmer relationship with a country voters overwhelmingly see as an American enemy.
The latest: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky lamented Trump's decision in a post to X Saturday morning.

"This Act could have helped enormously – and still can! But it needs to actually work, and every voice in support of it matters," he wrote, amid fresh Russian attacks on Ukraine's energy infrastructure.

Driving the news: The White House released the text of an executive order late Friday night detailing the implementation of the Lindsey O. Graham Sanctioning Russia and Iran Act, which Trump signed in September.

The bill, named for the late Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), imposed broad new sanctions on Russia and countries that do business with it, including buyers of its oil.
The order notes that the law allows the president to "waive the application of any sanctions provision with respect to a foreign person, any restriction with respect to a person, and any duty."
"I have submitted to the Congress a certification that the issuance of such a waiver at this time is in the national interests of the United States," Trump said in the order.
What they're saying: Republicans and Democrats alike blasted the waiver.

"Trump's latest surrender to Putin again betrays our Ukrainian partners and defies clear congressional intent of legislation designed to punish Russia for its illegal war of aggression," Rep. Don Beyer (D-Va.) posted on X.
"These waivers have nothing to do with our national security, & everything to do with sucking up to Vladimir Putin. I hope my Republican colleagues will join me in condemning this craven, cowardly action," Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.) said on X.
"Beyond irresponsible. What part of enforcing a law passed 86-11 by the Senate does the President and his advisors not understand?" Sen. Thom Tillis (R-N.C.) posted on X. "It's unconscionable that this administration is capitulating to a Russian dictator who illegally invaded Ukraine and butchers innocent civilians every single day."
Sen. John Cornyn (R-Tex.) posted simply: "Lindsey would be appalled."
The big picture: The waiver caps a historic week in recent U.S.-Russia relations, where Trump abruptly eased pressure on multiple fronts.

Whether it was the diesel deal, or a fight over Ukraine's ability to use Starlink to defend itself against Russian munitions, or a public denial of Russian involvement in the Iran war, Trump has spent the last few days shifting America's position on an old foe.
By waiving the Graham Act's so-called secondary sanctions, Trump will also avoid putting fresh pressure on China and India, major buyers of Russian oil.
The bottom line: The louder the bipartisan anti-Russia chorus gets, the more Trump doubles down on pulling back the pressure.

This is objectively insane to me. It passed 86-11 and he has both parties opposing him on this one. All on the backs of the other news about purchasing Russian diesel.

How can you see this and not be concerned about his relationship with Putin?

I’m really not saying this simply to bash on POTUS, but I mean, this is really bad.

It is bad. It's worse when you consider the long history of questionable decisions and rhetoric he's spouted - going back to meeting Putin and insisting he meet him alone without any other US representative in the room.

And last night Ukraine sent about 1000 drones to St. Petersburg and blew up a refinery, data center, a power station and a bridge.

Andy McCarthy Shreds Trump for Giving ‘Aid and Comfort’ to Putin in Scorching Column — Demands Congress Investigate Immediately

LEFT: Andy McCarthy RIGHT: Donald Trump

Andy McCarthy — prominent conservative legal commentator and former federal prosecutor — ripped President Donald Trump for giving “aid and comfort” to Vladimir Putin.

In a scathing column for National Review, McCarthy — a former Fox News contributor — took Congress to task for not applying sufficient scrutiny on Trump’s “alliance” with Putin.

“Putin’s war of aggression and hoped-for conquest against Ukraine, like his war of aggression and conquest in Georgia (swaths of which he has occupied for nearly two decades), is part of his quest to reconstitute America’s Soviet enemy,” McCarthy wrote. “And President Donald Trump is giving him aid and comfort.”

McCarthy added, “In a properly functioning republic, there would be immediate hearings about this week’s shocking escalation of the Trump–Putin alliance. Since the start of Trump’s second term, it has been excruciating to watch America’s president blame the victim, our ally Ukraine, for Putin’s war of aggression.”

The column comes on the heels of Trump striking a deal to buy Russian diesel and — late on Friday night — signing an executive order exempting Russia from sanctions he himself signed into law last month. The president has regularly blasted Ukraine’s Volodymyr Zelensky — calling him “not a good guy for us to deal with” in an interview on Thursday.

McCarthy was unsparing in his criticism of Trump’s recent rhetoric.

“This week, in lunatic public statements … the president again blamed Ukraine for the war and gratuitously insulted Zelensky,” McCarthy said.

Finally, McCarthy zeroed in on the restriction to the Starshield satellite system — which, according to a Reuters report, came from the White House.

“If we … allow common sense to enter the equation, too many dark signs point in the direction of an American administration — at the very moment it was seeking Ukraine’s capitulation and threatening to leave it defenseless by denying intelligence — taking conscious action that left Ukraine exposed to an intense attack, which Russia just happens to have conducted right at the perfect time,” McCarthy wrote. “This is dark. It demands answers. Now.”

He's obviously a RINO ... I mean no true American would question our dear leader ...

In reality this isn't hard:

“This week, in lunatic public statements … the president again blamed Ukraine for the war and gratuitously insulted Zelensky,” McCarthy said.

Finally, McCarthy zeroed in on the restriction to the Starshield satellite system — which, according to a Reuters report, came from the White House.

Sort of reminds me of all those HUGE and unusual oil futures bets that were placed minutes or hours before Trump opened his pie hole and lied again about Iran ...

• March 23, 2026: Roughly $500 million was traded (approx. 15 minutes before an announcement delaying strikes on Iran's power grid).
• April 7, 2026: Roughly $950 million was traded (hours before a U.S.–Iran ceasefire announcement).
• April 17, 2026: Roughly $760 million was traded (about 20 minutes before an announcement regarding the Strait of Hormuz).
• April 21/22, 2026: Roughly $430 million in Brent selling (4,260 lots) was placed 15 minutes before an indefinite Iran ceasefire extension.

For me it became painfully obvious when trump took the word of Putin over our intelligence community.

"I have great confidence in my intelligence people, but I will tell you that President Putin was extremely strong and powerful in his denial today," and added, "I don't see any reason why it would be [Russia]"...... July 16, 2018

Where people missed the boat is that was during his first term. People were warned everywhere, including on this very board, that trump restrained himself because he knew he would need to be re-elected. That he couldn't do the things he wanted to do because he knew he could never be re-elected if he did. They were told that if he had a second term he would surround himself with yes men and run rough shod over any and every existing norms.

And here we are.

I believe that Trump is softening us up to sell us out or give us to Putin. We are weaker after he has sucked up to Putin and strip-mined usa.
