I am astounded. This win puts the "giddy" in my "giddy-up" for this week. FIRST PLACE!
Never doubted we could win this one. Going to the kitchen and hoist a cold one or two as my thanks to Ravenkiller; he had to have worked up a thirst today. Salute to you dude. Believeland!

This was one of those games that we had no business winning - but somehow we did. One player that I want to mention is Jeudy - he has had some tough moments and comments etc, but he's continued to show up and it paid off in the clutch today
"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Boston is far to the left as KC settles into the slot. Fannin is flanked out wide to the right. Judkins and Sampson are split in the backfield as the ball is hiked ... Here we go."
I agree about Jeudy. Let's face it he's been cast aside a bit and could have sulked but he didn't and every time we've needed him, he's stepped up. Forget trading him we need him on our team as a leader to the younger guys. He's setting an example.
Same here. After the first 2 Ravens possessions I thought we were dead in the water. Quick observation. When we lost Jim Schwartz and traded Myles we all pretty much thought our D would take a step or 2 back. I'm not casting shade on either one. JS is a very good coach and Myles a great player and I respect them both but we're not really missing either one. Heck, if we kept Myles he wouldn't have been playing anyway because of his injury. Mike Ruttenberg may be a really good DC.
It's better to win ugly than to lose in a scorcher.
I had absolutely no faith in this team at all and even dozed off at halftime. I awoke moments after we scored the touchdown to tie it up; so I saw the end, but I missed everything in between.
I would be ecstatic if we added an ugly win by the Indians to the ugly wins by tOSU and the Browns; it'd be a great weekend hat trick.
Browns is the Browns
... there goes Joe Thomas, the best there ever was in this game.
4-2 is incredible and we have had some really good luck so far. But it is mind boggling to think if not for a bad punt snap, we would be 5-1 with the Titans coming up. Watson has not been great, but with this defense, maybe he doesn’t have to be. I just hope the offensive line will keep getting better.
When Carson Schlesinger goes out and plays hurt like that, how can guys like Kalia Davis, Mike Hall and Tevin Jenkins look at themselves in the mirror? Although I give Hall credit for going back into the Steelers game, I just don’t see why he had to take the next two games off. And please just cut Tevin Jenkins.
For all the offensive struggles I keep going back to the defense. Damn what a performance.
Missing Graham and Hall and they still shut the Ravens down after the first quarter. From the first drive it looked like we were going to get a serious dose of Derrick Henry.
He got beans after that.
Carson is something else. Dude is a bona fide playmaker. He is all over the field making plays. We had to have that turnover and he made it happen.
We have a long way to go on offense but with this defense we will be in every game.
I was thinking about that last night and wonder how much of this team's late game offensive success is due to going 3 wide. The WRs on this team are 2 1st rounders and a high 2nd round pick. For 3 quarters for the most part the team tries to stay balanced and play some sort of smash mouth football and then in the 4th when the game warrants go 3 wide and Watson all of a sudden look much better. Might be defenses are just struggling covering 3 talented receivers and things open up for Watson because of that.
I know it - we led for exactly 0 seconds. Even the final play was held with 0's on the clock because of the penalty. It's a record that can never be broken.
I think we all know that the offense's ineptitude is not sustainable. I mean, we were HORRIFIC for the first 3 quarters ... and just average until the last drive. I hope we can find a semblance of a run game to help quell the weaknesses.

The D had a few dropped interceptions was one reason
And the other was the Browns receivers not getting separation.
I saw a few times where they ran up to and just stopped next to the Ravens defensive player and stood there making no moves or effort to separate to give Watson a target
I also saw Verse tackling runners and receivers and playing a more all around defensive game unlike Myles who let RB's and receivers run past him so he could go get a sack for his personal record.
There are a few things with more playing time should help with the penalties and separation issues
The run game sure help with the O side of the ball and a great game by the ST's and Defense made for an exciting last minuet WIN !
Nice win . I thought our running game was better and I also thought that the safety who replaced Delpit ,Mcneil/warren, was an upgrade and played well.

I don't think we have the Oline to play smash mouth style, try as we may.
I don’t think the issue with the run game is necessarily the line. We have an inept passing game so teams don’t feel threatened by the pass and sell out for the run. Look how many times Hamilton, a free safety, completely ignored the pass. On top of that Judkins isn’t very good. I wouldn’t rush bringing him back and would start every single RB on the roster over him.
Until the offense can get the pass going in some semblance of professional football, the run game will struggle.
Let's get real about the defense. We have stopped good offensive teams. That is not an anomaly. We have a very good defense.
Monken has reached the players on this team. He is leading this effort and the team plays hard for him.
I am SHOCKED that the defense is playing as well as it has been. I thought with the Schwartz drama and bringing in a new DC that we would be hitting reset on an extremely effective unit. And week 1 was looking to be confirmation of that theory, but here we are playing stellar defense and now we have an offense that is capitalizing (albeit the absolute bare minimum) to turn those defensive efforts into wins.
One other thing as I'm thinking this morning: we really need to get Fannin involved more. He's been AWOL the last few weeks and is a big part of our offense
"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Boston is far to the left as KC settles into the slot. Fannin is flanked out wide to the right. Judkins and Sampson are split in the backfield as the ball is hiked ... Here we go."
I was wondering what the reaction was going to be if we beat the Ravens..
Prior to Game 1, we were expected to be drafting high and the Rams at the bottom of Rd 1. After 6 games the positions are reversed (although it may only be temporary). Well as long as one of our two draft picks is in a prime spot, we can be very thankful that it is the Rams and not us....lol
Haha, I got a JOK as soon as soon as they shelved him for the year again. I'm almost certain, that means retirement. Great player, great leader, goes to show injuries can derail any player type or level in the blink of an eye.
I was wondering what the reaction was going to be if we beat the Ravens.
Not much.
I guess the juice has run dry on dawgtalkers.
Sad but true I think
I find it hard to enjoy a browns win with watson as our qb I am offended that we traded for him I am offended that he is our starting qb So when we win with him as qb, my reaction is: eh
I struggle to root for an organization that would sell its soul for a few wins
To be honest, if we sign him to another contract, I am done with the team. Will I migrate to another team? Probably not. Most likely I will just give up ootball altogether
I would probably still hang out around here because I love interacting with you guys Maybe I would start visiting the everything else thread

I am away at a little over 3-week military course (One week left!). It’s been interesting, however very intensive work. I’d love to breakdown the games and post, however the most time I get - is to watch the game (or the replay) and read the board comments.

I tend to agree on Judkins. He doesn't have any shift in his game. I am interested in seeing Sampson getting some legit opportunities when he comes back. He is a better back than Q.
If everybody had like minds, we would never learn.
Schwesinger is phenomenal. He is everything I have coveted and yearned for as a ILB for 20 years. I am pretty sure he was one on one with Zay Flowers for a passing down and got a pass break up or he simply smothered Flowers.... But I was only watching highlights and could have that wrong. Schwesing and Williams are a great pairing.
Judkins was pretty damn good as a rookie. He was better than Sampson last year when healthy. He's probably a one cut guy and does not have the shake and bake of Sampson, but I don't think Sampson is big enough to carry the load by himself. Judkins (when healthy) and Sampson are a very good 1-2 punch with different skill sets. I would like too see Judkins healthy before we decide he's "just a guy".
Was super happy to see KC come back and play tough after the dirty hit he got last week. A little bit of concern that we are into week 7 and we really have under utilized Fannin and continue to do so... the guy is a stud.
** Edit - BTW -- Browns up to 14th in the Athletic Power Rankings!!! Ravens #11 and Benggals #12 !! Steelers #16 ... AFC North doing AFC North things ... feels like yester-decade.

The Party told you to reject the evidence of your eyes and ears. It was their final, most essential command.
My guess is it's what other teams are doing to take him away early in the season. Just my hunch because I don't even see Watson look his way much

I think that Sampson and Judkins were drafted more as a one/two punch. Completely different styles to compliment each other. I don't think either one without the other completes your backfield. But to the extent I wouldn't consider Judkins the primary back I would agree. I think the two of them combined are complimentary backs.
Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.
I found myself thinking "go" when Judkins gets the ball.
He seems a bit slow to get going. He may need the start you get when the QB is under center. Monken has gone heavy on shotgun because DW is more comfortable in shotgun.
That could be part of the issue.
We are in a strange place for a team. DW is not a good quarterback. In fact he stinks. However, what he can do is create. He has made big plays when the game is on the line.
We are 4-2. So, he is going to continue to play. I cannot tell if it is sustainable? Maybe he will improve. Or, more likely what we see is what he is.
We might get in the playoffs. Winning ten games is feasible.
I don't know what Berry has in mind about the future for our QB position.
Once again what was supposed to be a great QB class. Now seems very questionable. Arch Manning should stay in school. He is not ready for the NFL.
Sellers has disappeared. Moore is lucky he is ok. Now the hype train is on Mestemaker and he is twenty and could go back to school.
Mensah has some big games coming up. Sayin, Carr ?
If we do win ten games we will draft somewhere near the middle of the first round.
If DW finishes the season. Sanders is just a guy on the team who has not played. DG is the same.
So, we may have to find a retread veteran. If we draft a guy. He will not be ready. Mendoza is sitting. Ward is losing and trying to learn on the job. First round picks are far from guarantees.
I honestly have no idea what we are going to do? My guess is sign a vet and draft a guy to try and develop.
I try and prepare myself for QB classes not being as advertised the season before the draft. I mean in a 24/7 news cycle hyping up the fans and getting them excited is a part of the game. Nothing excites fans of QB needy teams more than making them think they can find the answer as far as 4th, 5th or even 6th QB taken in the draft. It generates ratings.
I haven't really followed all the QB's in this draft class enough to say a lot about them. I can say I'm a huge buckeyes fan so I watch every game Sayin plays in. At the same time I try not to be so much of a homer that I let it influence my opinion of his play.
I had really high hopes for him after last season. I expected to see a lot of improvement from him this season. But that's not really what I'm seeing. He looks great and fits the part when playing against weaker opponents. But against top opponents he looks mediocre. And be it right or wrong I evaluate QB's according to who their opponents are.
There are no Kent State's in the NFL.
My apology in advance to all Kent state alumni who may be offended by my post.

Brady Quinn had the same problem. He played well against weak teams and lousy against good ones. We drafted him anyway. I hope we learned something from that.

I think winning 4 games out of the first six is going to prove an anomaly. I don't think we can continue to win on last drives of the game. Watson just isn't good enough to keep doing that.
As for college QBs, I have seen a lot to like out of this class. Everyone is expecting all of these guys to be the leader of the Heisman race and have 20 TDs in 6 games with no INTs.. It's an unrealistic expectation. The mechanics are there on many prospects, including Manning. I think Texas has a lot more to worry about than Manning. When Texas handed tOSU their only loss and Tennessee their only loss, it was different. Now that they are getting some key injuries and don't have the backup system of a tOSU, it's catching up to them. If other teams want to sit on Manning, I would still take him later in the draft. College doesn't have the luxury of developing a guy, pro teams do.
As for those that "look the part" to everyone else. Mensah and Carr look pro ready right now. Moore is still Moore, just on a team that lost 7 starters to the NFL draft and don't have the system to replace them. I would still be very happy with Dante Moore.
Chambliss is going to have the same connotation as Sayin, a little smaller than a typical NFL QB. Doesn't mean I wouldn't want either one of them based on their tape.
To throw more into the mix, that many aren't talking about. Jayden Maiava is having one helluva year on a fairly bad USC team. He is doing what is needed to keep the sticks moving and put points on the board. They have won some games, they had no business winning. Ethan Grunkemeyer is looking like a real NFL prospect for those teams that are out of the first round sweepstakes. He could end up being a diamond in the rough if he forgoes his senior season.
Expectations are what sets you up for disappointment. If you expected 7 QBs to be the best QB in college, well...

First off.. I am a proud Golden Flash.. you didn't offend me. We got to see them play every weekend, we know what they are.
As for Sayin, he was on pace to break every stat he set last year except completion percentage. The "good opponents" he had his team in position to win both games. Both games were on the road in hostile crowds. They were 1-1 and he had his worst games statistically for completion percentage, but besides that they were better than the average college QB. When games against Texas and Indiana translates to mediocre compared to other QBs against even less talent.. Then he more than likely doing something more right than what you are seeing.Sayin just doesn't have the size, I fear, to excel at the next level.
All in all, 7 weeks into a still young season, I am very optimistic about this draft class, as far as translation to the NFL game. With the injury, it's a moot point because he will most likely return for another year of college ball.

People stop posting for any number of reasons. Personally, I never felt much of a need to get into the gameday forum. As for the rest of the threads... I dunno, I guess I'm just waiting for the other shoe to drop, so to speak. I wouldn't have argued with anyone who was saying we'd have this many wins by the end of the year... but more than that, it's the way we're doing it. Defense carrying the water and then the offense coming through in the end. I'm trying to wrap my head around it all.
Manning was supposed to be the consensus first pick.
That for sure is not the case now. Every time I watched him. My impression was he does not read the field.
From the limited amount I have seen Chambliss plays the position better than the others I have seen.
He plays smart. He is accurate. He has great mobility. He is a good runner. His one drawback is that he is 6'.
The draft is over 5 months away. Lots of things will happen.
I like Chambliss the college player and I think he is the only one that is going to ultimately challenge Smith for the Heisman, but his size, like Sayin, will alter his trajectory in the NFL.
Mensah will be the top pick if he continues to play like he is now when he meets Notre Dame. Everyone is hyping Mensah based on winning against Florida State.. news flash.. FSU is not good this year, in fact they are bad. Notre Dame will be the showcase for both he and Carr. They could both come out of the game looking like top 5 picks, no matter who actually wins the game.
I didn't say he wasn't doing some things right. Just not enough against top opponents. Believe what you will, he'll need to show more progress against better teams. Throwing two int's in a game isn't good by any normal standards. When your defense holds your opponent to 15 points, "being in a position to win" isn't all that much about the QB.
Sort of like a 13-10 win isn't.

Pass break up by Ward was a great cheme and a great play. Often we seem to struggle more in zone coverage - I wonder if we disguise the D play as much as this on a lot of zone plays or whether this was dialled up because of Huntley playing.
The two throws to the WR - highlight the good catches but also highlight quite bad throws when DW was not under pressure. The Boston play in particular had YAC if he'd hit him in stride.
