Rax was a good one! All I remember from Bill Knapps was the chocolate cake my grandma would get me for my birthday every year.

Recently, (my myspace friends should remember the breakdown I had) all the Rally's have been closing down. Sad.

AHHH I miss Berger Chef. I was tossed out of there many times as a teenager for having food fights with the food off of the salad bar I can still see the pickles stuck on the ceiling and the windows

Rax had the best strawberry milkshakes. One real Strawberry on top of the whip cream

One fast food place that I will not miss is Hardees. All 3 that were in this area (Warren, Niles, Newton Falls) are now closed. the California Raison toys were cool back in the day. Also, their breakfast wasnt bad. But it seemed like every Hardees I have been in was the dirtiest of all fast foods. The "Frisco Burger" is one of my all time nastiest fast food hamburgers. Right in front of McDonalds "Big N Tasty"

When I lived in Canton, OH there was a Pizza place called Noble Roman's. I loved that place.

I remember...it was on 30th street near rt 62....same one you talking about.....

I'm not sure if it is the same one or not, I was like 8 years old when we used to go there.

It's not still around is it? All I remember about Canton was driving past the Hall of Fame all the time and our address..7310 Celina St! Our zip was a Massillon zip though...44646!!

Thats funny because now Westgate is no longer a mall.. it is a shopping center, or they are in the process of making it into one.

I never knew Stouffers was anywhere but downtown though, for the longest time Stouffers downtown was pretty much the only top notch hotel in Cleveland.

They went under in the late 70s early 80s. The last one I can remember was the one in Streetsboro on RT 14 right by where 1 480 ends by the OHIO Turnpike. There is still a few of the building that are other business left around. Seems like most of them were turned into mom and pop family restaurants.

Dont bother its a rest stop thing, not the same as the full restaurant. Plus the people there are all inbreds.

One place I like is Fuddruckers. However in Columbus they totally closed down the one on Sawmill and the other one on Fishinger just recently. Not sure if they went out of business or what ? As for old places I always liked Burger Chef and Roy Rogers.

Have a Sunrise Pizza for me.

I still remember the Phone number and have not lived in Warren for 25 years.

Whenever I go back to Warren, I am sure to stop there.

They went out of business somewhere 1980 - 1981. I remember because my mom worked there after I had left to go work elsewhere. I had to pick her up from work on that final day ...... and when I got there the whole place was boarded up.

What a depressing day.

Some others stayed open later than the Boardman one. I think that some had a variety of franchise agreements, and kept the name/menu for differing periods of time.

I miss Burger chef's mushroom swiss burger
a place called Corral (spelling) that had burgers called "Nightmares" with awesome onion rings.
Green Gables chicken in Green, Oh(private establishment)
Being in South Florida, I miss the following:
Belgrades in Green -chicken is the best in the world.
Hamburger Station in Stow and a couple other places-every year I go to Ohio for my birthday and go to a Browns game and get a dozen Hamburger Station's burgers with onions, pickle, and mustard.
A&W Drive In
Horn of Plenty-awesome buffet that I loved as a kid.
Brown Derby-another favorite as a kid
Dianna Kimmerlees-a another favorite as a kid(shrimp n fries basket was my favorite there).
Country Kitchen and Bob Evans was my fav. breakfast places.
Parason's Italian Restaurant in Green.

I grew up fairly poor so once in awhile going to Brown Derby was like going to The Ritz. We used to go to the one at Chapel Hill Mall. Remember the Childrens Grog??

Parasons was good too, and cheap. I think what kiled them was when they had the controversy about getting caught reserving food that they scraped off of plates. I think the original one in Hudson or Stow is still open.

I work in Warren and we get Sunrise once in a while. Some people actually don't like it there, but it's probably because their pizza is different. It's Briar Hill style, with the sprinkled on cheese instead of gooey mozzarella. I think it's pretty good.

If you lived in that area before, do you remember Buena Vista chicken?

That is, by far, the BEST tasting fried chicken you'll find. I remember Hanford Dixon talking about it on the radio on a post game show last year.

Brown Derby at Chapel Hill Mall...I miss that place. It's now a Brown Derby Roadhouse. Great steaks.

As for Parrason's...Stow, Main St. in Akron, Waterloo Rd. in Akron, and Wooster Rd in Barberton are still around. I've dined at all but the Barberton one in the past year.

I miss some places down in Akron, Swenson's, Gioninos Pizza (I LIVED on that stuff,,bomb!), this Cajun Place in Chapel Hill Mall. They used to give u a huge portion of chicken and rice,,it was so damn good.
If anyone is ever in Euclid, Stevensons on Lakeshore has the best burgers and Papa Joes oN E.200th St just has awesome everything. I don't go over that way much except my hang out with friends, when I do I make sure to hit those places up!

I was at Swenson's yesterday. Never been to Gionino's but heard good things. The Cajun place is called Cajun Grill. And it's bomb.

It's great living near all that great food I won't lie.

My fave local pizza is Rocco's, followed closely by Luigi's. I don't miss either though, since neither is too far away from me!

I mis all the cool little food places down on the strip in Kent. Espcially all the little pizza shops. Guidos was the schiznit, the Loft was awesome too but we were kids and it was a bar so they wouldnt let us in there on weekends.

Scotto's!!!!!

My brother remembered the name of it today. Scotto's pizza was the joint at the Southern Park Mall. I'd always get a big 'ol slice of pizza and a red cherry pop whenever my mom took us to the mall. That stuff was great!

OMGosh! Scotto's! Good stuff. There used to be one of the those at Summit Mall in Fairlawn/Akron, in the storefront that is now, I believe, an Indians Team Shop. Sbarro's is good, but Scotto's was better.

Ooh... Loparo's Pizza in Mayfield Hts (Golden Gate Plaza, I think). Hands down the best pizza I've ever had and it is one of the few things I miss about living in that area. I think it's gone, at least.

Also, we used to go to Fazoli's (sp?) alot here in Medina. I'm not sure if they are all gone, but the one in Medina closed. Italian fast food. It was cheap, tasty and much better than your regular fast food joint. I miss that place too.

Golden Point cheap burger place like McDonalds. They were around Cleveland back in the mid 60's.
Master Pizza a franchise chain that were independently owned. We had a great one out in Brunswick back in the late 70's early 80's.
Victoria Station nice place served sit down meals a real restaurant. You picked out your cut of meat (steak).
Snow White donuts, they were all over much like Dunkin Donuts today.

Can't believe there are no more of them. They had great pizza. I had been trying to think of the name since this thread was started, so I asked my brother today and he knew it right away.

This site has lots of Red Barn memories for you:

What a great site. That really brings back memories. A 1st job is kinda like your 1st love ..... the 1st will always be special, and always fondly remembered.

I think I'm gonna mix up a batch of the chicken breading from the site and make some Red Barn knockoff chicken. Now if only I can find a pressure fryer. lol

Yes you could. Most pizza joints in Columbus are nothing more then cracker crust. Belleria is doing very well down there and I suspect so would Wedgewood.

I kinda miss Roy Roger's fast food place. They had the best burgers IMO.

I would get a bacon cheeseburger and drown it in their bar-b-que sauce whenever I went to the Parmatown mall. Good times!

And don't forget Bob's Big Boy. One of the best burgers ever (although it's just a cheeseburger with tarter sauce).

And yes, the Brown Derby. I went there with my parents a lot. It felt like I was going to the most expensive restaurant in town.

You've gotta be talking about . . . . . Scotto's.
