The Cleveland Browns have named Cory Undlin defensive backs coach, the club announced on Saturday.
Undlin received a one-year contract extension and is signed through the 2009 season. Undlin spent the last three seasons working with the Browns secondary under Head Coach Romeo Crennel.
"Cory is a young, energetic coach who has been in our system for three years," said Head Coach Romeo Crennel. "I like his coaching style and he will do a good job for us in the classroom and on the field."
Undlin came to Cleveland from the New England Patriots, where he spent the 2004 season as the defensive assistant helping with the defensive backs. Before joining New England, Undlin spent two seasons assisting with the defensive backs as a graduate assistant at Fresno State University (2002-03). During those two seasons, Fresno State won back-to-back Silicon Valley Bowls by defeating Georgia Tech and UCLA, respectively.
Prior to Fresno State , Undlin spent four years at Cal Lutheran University , first as the linebackers coach and then as defensive coordinator (1998-2002). Undlin played defensive back at Cal Lutheran from 1990-1994, and received a Master's degree from CLU in 2003
