Big win tonight on the road in San Antonio.

Cavs have now won 3 in a row and 9 of their last 12.

Hopefully the Cavs can make a big run here before the All-Star break

My wife turned it off with 30 seconds to go with San Antonio going to the line. How did it end?

LeBron made the go-ahead bucket with 35 seconds left.

Then, Parker missed 2 FT's with about 30 ticks on the clock .....we held the ball and Bron missed a fairly deep 3 from the wing with the shot clock running out.

Ginobilli dribbled the length of the floor missed a 16 footer to tie with about 5 seconds to go.

We only play them twice a year in regular season. We beat then both times last season, so this is three in a row.

May not be a big loss for them, but its a big win for us.

Fun game to watch, I got to break out my "Beat San Antonio" shirt from last year. 4 of our last 6 are on the road to finish the month. We need to finish strong because February is going to be a little tougher with Boston twice, the Spurs Denver amongst others.

Good game to watch last night.

BTW....anyone know if Larry Hughes has made a basket in a Cleveland uniform? I cannot stand his shot selections.

Lol, I know, everytime he pulls up from beyond the free throw line I take a deep breath.

I just dont understand why he thinks he can hit these shots, I dont care how wide open he is.

I will give him credit though, last night he was about to pull the trigger on a 3 pt shot there at the end of the 4th and he pulled it down and hit Boobie in the corner who then knocked down the three. Normally, Hughes takes that on his own and bricks it.

Go visit his website to find out..... http://heylarryhughespleasestoptakingsomanybadshots.com/. It's a real site! I'm not kidding.

The word on the street was that Hughes was almost traded for Jamal Crawford (and other pieces) last week. I.THomas cancelled the trade......we were ALMOST rid of him!

In two years ...

He pretty much has the worst contract in the NBA. He's got 3 years left and makes $12 million a year I think. Plus he plays like a $500k bench scrub. The three "qualities" that make a person tradeable are: youth/upside, low cost, 1 year left on a big contract (frees cap space after the season). Larry is the exact opposite. If Ferry can pull off a trade, he should get GM of the year.

The guy is a flat-out shooter though. He would be a perfect fit here.

I thought this was an interesting article on ESPN's Daily Dime. I forgot that most of our "losing" was during the time Lebron was out with injury and recovering.

Brian Windhorst
Special to ESPN.com

SAN ANTONIO -- Spurs vs. Cavs. No-brainer, right? This matchup has long been settled and quite convincingly, everybody knows that, eh?

Look again.

The two teams that hooked up at the AT&T Center Thursday appear to be heading in different directions. And it's not the way it was seven months ago or even one month ago.

So the Cavs beat the Spurs, 90-88. Manu Ginobili, who seemingly couldn't miss all night on his way to 31 points, didn't get a friendly bounce at the horn as his 18-footer that would have forced overtime slipped off the rim. That's not really giant news, after all the Cavs have beaten the Spurs four straight times in the regular season. The Spurs have four straight wins in the playoffs, slightly different.

But this game was more than just about a Finals rematch and the Cavs' minor whiff of revenge. Which is why it deserves a closer look.

With so many sexier stories going on in the NBA, maybe some stopped keeping tabs on the Spurs after they bolted out to a 17-3 start. With the vogue opinion to call LeBron James a one-man team, maybe some saw the Cavs' 10-14 beginning and wrote them off as a one-year wonder.

In fact, the Cavs' victory Thursday was their ninth in the past 11 games. The wins haven't been over cream puffs, either. In that stretch the Cavs have beaten the Lakers and Warriors at home and won in both Dallas and San Antonio, which nobody, much less a team from the Eastern Conference, seems to be able to do.

James is having a career year and making a strong case for the Most Valuable Player award. Not only are the Cavs 0-5 without him, he's leading the NBA in scoring (29.8) and averaging career highs in both rebounds ( 7.7) and assists (7.5) while shooting a career-best from the field (49 percent).

When James got hurt the Cavs were 9-6 and coming off a victory over the Celtics. They ended up dropping eight of nine games as James recovered. James, Larry Hughes (knee) and Anderson Varejao (contract holdout) all came back on the same night in mid-December and it took the Cavs a week to get back on their feet. Now they're off and running.

Thanks to James, who leads the NBA in fourth-quarter scoring, the Cavs own 12 come-from-behind wins in the final quarter and are 4-1 in overtime games. After sitting with the 10th-best record in the Eastern Conference six weeks into the season, the Cavs are now in fourth place.

"We have been playing some great basketball lately," James said. "We had a rough patch for a while and some teams took advantage of us, but the regular season means nothing. We're building for the playoffs and we're trying to get better every day."

Meanwhile, in the land of championship banners and non-stop mundane success, the Spurs are the ones searching. Thursday's defeat made them 8-9 since their amazing start with their annual "rodeo" road trip -- this year a nine-game meatgrinder -- only 10 days away.

Certainly the Spurs have dealt with injury problems; in December none of the big 3 of Tim Duncan, Tony Parker and Ginobili played together in the same game. Parker is back now, but the Spurs are concerned about a bone spur in his left heel limiting his explosiveness. It showed against the Cavs, who couldn't touch him in the Finals. He had 23 points and six assists but was not the same player and the Spurs' 88 points and 43 percent shooting showed it.

Overall, Spurs coach Gregg Popovich has been grumbling about his team's waning focus, demonstrated by a 22-2 run they allowed to the Pistons last week and Thursday's second quarter, when the Cavs piled up 31 points even with James sitting for eight minutes. He's been searching everywhere for a rotation. Thursday he benched Robert Horry in the second half and started Matt Bonner at power forward in third quarter.

Then again, all of these Spurs have seen this before and they usually come out of it. Last season it wasn't until February that they started looking like a championship team.

"We really haven't played 48-minute games very often this season and that has been our negative for the last month," Popovich said. "We'll keep pounding at it ... right now we don't have too many people doing what we want them to do very consistently."

Didn't we draft Crawford and then trade him right away? Who or what did we trade him for? I can't seem to remember.

when he's in his last year, he's very tradable, although i would look to trade him the year before, when there will be a few teams willing to deal with him for a year and a half, so they can have that open space...

i would only deal hughes in his last year if i was getting something special back, something like a jason kidd or a guy of that caliber... otherwise, we should just hold on to him and take the cap space that his contract expiring would create...

my guess is that he gets dealt next year...

the cavs are back to playing their style of basketball, and the offense is getting better, it still isn't where we want it though, and that will never happen until we get someone running the point, but for now, it's working...

it's funny, the cavs have won 9 of 11 in quiet fashion, and i haven't seen too many "trade this guy", or "fire mike brown", or "lebron is gonna leave us cause we've dropped 3 of our last 4!!" posts...

it's funny how those people just kind of shut up when the cavs are doing well...

i seriously can't wait to the playoffs... i think it's gonna be detroit and cleveland for the eastern conference, boston is vastly overrated, they don't scare me one bit...

and considering lebron's averages versus boston, the cavs shouldn't be scared either...

It's also nice to see Damon Jones step it up lately. I don't know if they finally settled their differences or if he's playing to raise his trade value, but I haven't heard him complain in awhile....and it has paid off from what I've been noticing in the box scores.

while he's not the best shooter in the world, he is a very good shooter... and i love the way mike brown is using him getting him good minutes every night... any production from the backcourt that you can get is awesome right now...

and if he keeps it up, it would be easier to trade him...

the cavs are now 7 games back of detroit, and i think this division is still very much up for grabs...

the cavs gotta win tomorrow in miami, miami is on a huge losing streak, and you don't wanna be the team to end it

and i know that the ship seems to have been righted, but if i were danny ferry, i'd still be on the phones trying to make something happen, because the offense still isn't what we all want it to be... and you really need a point guard in the playoffs...

the clippers want to get rid of sam cassell, i'd trade for him in a heartbeat, and he's also in the last year of his deal, where we could package up any combination of guys (newble, jones, brown) and bring a guy who has always shown tremendous leadership, and is also not afraid of hitting a big shot, which could prove valuable to lebron in the closing minutes of games...

i know bibby is the big talk, but it's a lot of money, and i think the problem with dealing him is that danny ferry is hesitant to pull the trigger, and add more cap problems to this team, because they know in the next few years, their cap situation will be very very good for signing lebron, as well as signing another very good player...

This is the type of game we'll lose. If I was in Vegas, I would put a nice little chunk on the Heat. Easy money.

I'll be right.....unfortunately.

i have a bad feeling too, and it's what i've been talking about for years, the lebron effect...

you see, the cavs won't be able to sneak into miami and run out of the building with a win before miami knows it... because lebron is coming to town, the building will most likely be filled to capacity (which they draw terribly, miami fans are awful) which in turn, could help the struggling heat get back on track...

while they are all there to see him, they are not there to root for him...

on paper though, the cavs should win this game, dwyane wade is dwyane wade, but the rest of that team isn't very good

I dont know about "very much" up for grabs, unless I am reading that wrong.

Is there an outside shot? Yeah, sure, but its slim. We need to take the remaining games we have against the Pistons for a real shot.

i'm a fan of jamal crawford, but there are times where you just scratch your head watching him and wonder what the hell he is thinking

i think with the right coach, he could actually become a very good player, i don't know if mike brown is that guy, but to see what he's done with sasha, who's defense is slowly coming along, i guess it is possible

but yeah, this team could use a guy who isn't afraid of taking too many shots...

OK, I hope nobody followed my advice and bet the mortgage on the Heat. I just figured the Cavs were going to lose because of the Heats losing streak...I guess that means the Heats poor play outweighs the Cavs inability to beat the bad teams.

...or the Cavs are actually playing well enough to sneak into the top 4 spots in the East.

Glad we pulled this game out but LeBron sure does get an itchy trigger finger when he plays against D-Wade, Melo or Kobe.

Not saying he shouldn't be excited to play against other superstars, he just need to improve on his shot selection a bit. He gets too jumper happy, like he needs to prove to everyone that he can shoot it.

He was something like 3/14 from outside the paint tonight......I don't see any scenario (unless he's unconscious), where he needs to be taking that many shots outside of 15 feet. I know, knit-picking.
