Only time i don't root for the cavs! When they are playing the Lakers! GO LAKERS!! Should be a good game...both teams have some injuries and both teams have 1 of the best NBA players on their respective teams... Kobe vs King James!

Yeah LB is having a good game, but his jumper aint falling today. He needs to keep attacking the cup, and if they converge trust that z, larry, boobie and, dj will hit the shots.

I love the emotion from LeBron today. He is playing with passion and a purpose. I've never seen him this animated..... especially after that last jumper.

That was actually a great job by Hughes not giving up on the play. He just barely got a piece of that shot and kept it from going in.
I think they turned the leak in the roof back on with Boobie slipping there....

what an awesome win...
after wild thing went down, and then z fouled out, i didn't think we had much of a chance, but ira newble really stepped up in the absence of both
lebron was obviously great, but how about larry hughes knocking down big shot after big shot?

just clicking...
I'm getting absolutely sick of the media hanging all over Kobe's you know what.
I can't believe Van Gundy had the nerve to say that Kobe was the best player in the league BY FAR.
That is such a ridiculous statement.
Kobe is a GREAT player. He is especially a great scorer. He plays defense occasionally and when he does he is solid but not as great as everybody and their brother make it out to be. He is an average rebounder. He is an average passer. And his assists come as a result of the defense dictating where to go with the ball. He rarely ever creates for someone else on his own.
How does that add up to the best player BY FAR. He may be the best, but BY FAR?
Tell you the truth...I think LeBron is a better player than Kobe. I'd take LeBron and Duncan before I'd take Kobe.
Now this isn't supposed to be slamming Kobe. I just called him the 3rd best player in the NBA. That's hardly a slam.
But this worshipping of him like he is on a pedestal that is so much higher than everyone else is just ridiculous.
LOL - The Rish will be upset with this news as well. KS just doesn't prioritize winning...

LeBron,
Games like these are what makes the NBA. Those last 2 minutes were exhausting for me to even watch. I even made my GF watch the last 2 minutes.
Nothing can beat watching the best 2 in the world go head to head like that. Boy LB has been a beast on D ALL YEAR. If he is not the MVP of this league then it's s shame. His clutch factor is continually rising....
Larry looks much more confident out there. It's amazing what a few made jumpers will do to a guys mental game...
His defense is always there, but if he can make open looks and not turn the ball over, we are literally unbeatable with Andy. That being said, I am praying he is ok. We are good without him, but we NEED him to really be a contender.

i think kobe is probably the best player in the league, the most complete...
but lebron showed that soon, he will be that guy...
he showed signs of being able to lock down on kobe... he made a huge stop on him late in the game...
kobe plays better defense than lebron, lebron is a better passer (lebron also has a better supporting cast) the cavs also play defense, which can create easy opportunites at the other end...
what kobe has that lebron doesn't is that mid range game, and lebron probably won't get that until he's 27, 28 years old, when he starts to slide into his prime...
van gundy is great in the booth though, i enjoy the entire team of breen, jackson, and van gundy...

Not letting the Lakers to really have a clear shot as time expired was truly a beautiful display of defense by the Cavs.Well done.
I hope Verejao is going to be OK. Anybody know the extent of the injury?

I'm just curious, do you watch many Lakers games?
If so, you'll see that for as much good as Kobe does, he does just as much bad.
It goes unnoticed because his good is so pleasing to the eye and because he is such a dynamic, creative scorer. People remember the up and under where the defender was faked out of his shoes much longer than the way he shoots them out of games.
LeBron is a better player than Kobe is right now, although he doesn't have as good of a jumper or mid-range game.
His all around game is better. He's a better, more complete player.
I just don't understand the media love affair with Bryant to the extent that it is.

yeah, that last sequence there looked a lot like the pistons or the spurs, where they just suffocated them at the perimeter... it was well played, they knew exactly what they wanted, and they knew exactly what the lakers wanted to do...
ankle injuries can vary, he can literally be fine for portland on wednesday, or he can be out 3 weeks, but they really need him, he was playing so well today, and really since he came back, we need him out there, no question.
but until then, it's good to see ira newble step up his game...
i really hope larry hughes can keep this up, it's really hard to root for him, but i do pull for him every night... in my opinion, i think he thinks too much about his contract, and living up to those expecations... he may be paid like a 20-25ppg guy, but we don't need that, if he can give you 15 points and his usual defense, nobody would rag on him...
and i think what we saw was him getting into the paint more, and taking the higher percentage shot... if you can get it done there, it makes everything outside the paint a little easier... if he gets going, the cavs are going to steamroll the rest of this schedule...

LBJ out played him those last two minutes... Kobe got killed defensively and instead of passing the ball kept trying horrible shots which he missed.

X-Rays were negative. He'll have an MRI tomorrow. Its an ankle sprain, I'd imagine he's out 2-4 weeks, maybe more.

i watch enough to know that he's the best player in the league.
lebron, in my opinion is having the better year, and who knows, maybe at the end of the year, we're all saying lebron is the better player, but right now, kobe does not have enough around him, especially with bynum out (they were among the west's top teams before bynum went out)
it's really hard to compare kobe and lebron, even with all the comparisons the media gives you, because they are different players, it's similiar to the way people compare lebron to michael, it's not the same, they don't play similiar styles, they don't even play the same natural position...
kobe is more like michael, lebron is more of a hybrid of several guys, a mix of magic johnson and charles barkley...
if i was building a team, i'd probably take lebron, only because i think eventually lebron will become better than kobe, but lebron is not in his prime, there are areas of his game that are not complete yet, and like i said before, the mid-range game is so important, especially in the playoffs, that's how you can keep your team in the game... it's very tough to defend a guy with that weapon in his arsenal...
it's all opinion though, with the way lebron is playing right now, it's hard to argue...

I agree comparisons are a tricky thing to make. So many different variables to consider.
But if someone makes a statement that 'Kobe is the best player in the league BY FAR', then that opens the doors to picking 1 guy regardless of team, circumstances, age, style of play, etc., etc...
And I'd take LeBron over Kobe, and I think it's an easy decision.
I just think people have a hard time seeing Kobe's faults and how they impact the success of his team because the media - and even LeBron to an extent - have brainwashed folks.
But that's just my opinion.

Log, if it does end up being 2-4 weeks, i will be very relieved. At least we have the all star break that eats up 5 of those days.
Just bad timing as our upcoming schedule the next few weeks is brutal.

you would be foolish to say that LeBron is better than Kobe right now... I'm sick of ppl knockin' Kobe for what he is...it's like the announcers said at the half when he had taken only 6 shots... ppl say why isn't he taking more shots when he does that...and then when he does shoot the dang ball ppl say he hogs it too much...The MEDIA has ruined him...nobody is perfect....Kobe is hands down the better player RIGHT NOW...simply because he is more rounded than LBJ...

Sorry but Kobe has brought most of it onto himself.

No, he is not. LBJ is a much more complete player and it ain't even close. The thing is I think Kobe is still a better player. He is a scorer who does it in crunch time from anywhere on the floor. LBJ does not. He doesn't have nearly the shooting ability as Kobe and it really hurtshim in crunch time. Kobe would be a much better player than he already is if he didn't take so many stupid shots. He shoots way too much. That would be ok if they were quality shots. Too bad they're not. LeBron is a better passer and better rebounder than Kobe. That however doesn't overcome Kobe's offensive prowlness.

Let me get this straight... LBJ is much more complete player? but Kobe is still better? hmm Quote:
He doesn't have nearly the shooting ability as Kobe and it really hurtshim in crunch time.
So that makes him a more complete player than Kobe? hmm name one thing Kobe doesn't have that LBJ does..
Quote:

Wait so that makes him a less of a complete player or a ball hog? cuz that is what you are implying by that statement...please tell me how THIS makes kobe less "rounded" is it about the assits? cuz if that is the case then look at the stats in the playoffs last year and this year..he has learned to trust his team more as time as gone on...
LeBron takes just as many shots as Kobe...they are both stars of their teams and that is how it will be..they are the playmakers the go to guys...doesn't make them ball hogs..I guess Kobe was never much of a rebounder..but when u take shots from so far frm the basket u dont' get chance to rebound a lot..
Anyways..in the end u agree Kobe is better which doesn't make sense to me how..

Two good NBA games were played on Sunday - almost made a no NFL Sunday tolerable. What more can be said about the wonder kid? LBJ is simply an amazing talent and how fortunate we are to see him play. There was some type of media event held in Cleveland this week where the media hacks voted CC Sabathia over LBJ as the city's best athlete/performance this past year. Are they nuts? Yep, they are. Did they forget that LBJ carried his team to the NBA finals while the overblown, overhyped. overweight CC did NOTHING for his team in the playoffs? Maybe Shapiro had a hand in this, hoping to help in his atttempts to sign CC? Bahahahahaha. BTW, any further report on Andy V's ankle injury?

i'm with you on that, in my opinion kobe is the best player in the league, but by far? no. that's actually a pretty dumb statement, considering lebron's numbers are better, and soon, his teams wins will be more than the lakers...
i don't think kobe does quite the job that lebron does by making his teammates better...
gibson, varejao, even z? i don't think those guys are the solid players they are without lebron...
man, losing varejao really sucks, but at least we have a guy like newble, who is happy to step in there, and do what is needed to fill the void...
sucks, because we have a big one with boston coming up, and varejao is our best option against kg...
