They have just opened a Smith and Wollensky's up here, either Beachwood Place or Eton Collection, can't remember which east side debacle it's at.

Was at a great rib's and steak place in Atlanta years ago, cant seem to remember the name But you could get a half rack of rib's and a steak of your choice plus sides for like $12.00 and it was some of the best rib's I have ever had! Anyone know the name of the place?

Wow...that menu looks good. Reminds me a lot of Mallorca.

This dish sounds amazing:
Mariscos "Diablo"
Combination of sautéed lobster, shrimp, scallops, mussels, and clams in a spicy tomato sauce with blue crabmeat, onions, green peppers, garlic, white wine and chili peppers, served over a bowl of pasta.

I don't know man....I am not big on Atlanta....I make effort to avoid the place....but when there, the Dining Room at the Ritz is as good as it gets....and another place both my wife and I like is Nikolais Roof.....Russian...everything starts with a flight on chilled vodkas.

For $45/plate, Nikolai should be able to figure out how to put his menu available on his website in pdf form, not an external word document.

By the way, the last few times out in Westlake, there is a Spanish spot...name escapes me...on Detroit Rd......you ever been??? If so....any word??

The best steak I've ever eaten, hands down, was at Windows On The World which sadly no longer exists as it was at the top of one of the World Trade Center towers.

There is a place in Manhattan called Mama Mexico which is excellent, but expensive.

Around Cleveland, my favorites are probably Mint Cafe on Coventry for Thai, and the various Aladdins' franchises (the locations on Cedar and Madison are the ones with which I'm familiar) for Middle Eastern. I used to get falafel sandwiches from a place on 117th called Al Manar market and they were very good. Tommy's on Coventry makes fantastic milkshakes.

I had Giordano's pizza the last time I was in Chicago and I liked it quite a bit. It was recommended by the concierge at the hotel I was staying in (Hard Rock) as the best in the area. While there I also ate at a place called the Chicago Diner, an all-vegan restaurant (I eat a vegetarian diet) which was good.

Very good Cuban place in NYC - Victor's Cafe. Wonderful paella...Mmmmm

Another great seafood place in San Juan, Puerto Rico - Pelican Dumas. Sit outside if you can...watch the sun set as you enjoy your fresh seafood dinner. GORGEOUS!

The Mongolian BBQ is a fun, different place to eat as well - http://www.gomongo.com/

Also, Pickle Bill's is open! Was there recently for the Crab Legs!

Viva Barcelona - Kinda like a 2nd rate Mallorca, in my opinion. If Viva was the first place I went to, I'd think it was great, but after going to Mallorca, Viva is 2nd rate...kinda like Windsor and Vegas.

Used to be another excellent spot out in Westlake on Center Ridge - Little Budapest for the Hungarian lovers. A true authentic Hungarian place. Not sure if it is still there though.

Outside of naming a bunch of Chicago restaurants.....

Taco Bell

I know, I know......it's essentially meatless garbage but it just tastes so good. And that's really the only fast food place I'll eat (Chipotle being the other).

That is it.....after talking to you about this stuff for a few years, you seem to have a pretty good read on things.....I will pass and either go downtown or keep going to where I have gone out on the westside.

Thanks

Don't go out much, but Casa Fiesta in Norwalk is great food and great atmosphere for big or small groups. I think it's the best Norwalk has to offer, lol.

I've always wanted to try that Weber Grill restaurant in Chicago...no one ever wants to go with me, looks like a cool place, decent food.

I've eaten steak at Ditka's and the Capital Grille in Chicago and was disappointed to say the least with both. And let me tell you, the Capital Grille was not cheap.

I've heard great things about Lawry's - anyone been there?

I did go to a good thin crust pizza place in the suburbs...Two Brothers From Italy, in Elmurst, Il.

i've heard the weber grill is good stuff, but i can't vouch for that myself, never been there...

i haven't been to lawry's either

i've heard mixed reviews of ditka's

if you want a sports personality-owned restaurant, go to harry caray's, great food...

every summer they do the taste of chicago, it's nice, but there are a ton of people that show up (even on like a tuesday afternoon when people are supposed to be working) and it's always really hot... but you can buy tickets and try smaller portions of different restaurants...

best meatball sub, nonno's on ogden, we always take ogden all the way home after hawks games, and we'll usually stop in and get one, good stuff

someone mentioned mongoalian bbq, love the place... there are 2 in chicago, which is awesome, both are within like 20 minutes of me too, it's my girlfriend's favorite place too

The one in Norwalk used to just be called Norwalk, but is now called Summit Raceway. There is a different drag strip in Thompson...

Weber is good though it's kind of "chainy". Their pulled pork sandwich is awesome. The BBQ sauce was chunky......boooo!

Lawry's was ok. Nothing special in my book. Well, the bill was high.

Ditka's was really good....though I ordered a burger twice (during lunch hours). And it was one of the better burgers I've ever had.

Harry Carry's is amazing. It sounds like it would be an extension of Wrigley Field but it's very high class (well, for a tourist trap). The steaks and chops are of high quality but the beast on the menu is the crab cakes! I order crab cakes at just about every restaurant I go into....and they are BY FAR THE BEST. And I've been back numerous times, the cakes always hit the spot. Don't forget to order a bowl of potato chips from the bar, they make them on site.

Mexican? Fiesta Mexicana on Lincoln/Halsted/Fullerton.

We've been to Capital Grille and it was expensive. I think I order the peppercorn strip steak....wasn't bad.

And yes, Catch 35 is one of the best seafood joints in the city. I remember telling someone about it on this board and they went on my suggestion. Was that you BB? Being in town on business and staying just across the river?

If you're near Michigan Ave check out the 676 Restaurant and Bar in the Omni hotel. Easy to get a seat by the window...and it overlooks the Apple store right on the Mag Mile. I think it's on the 5th floor. Nice view and good food.

Wow, I could go on and on....

For steaks, I love Ruth Chris or Hyde Park.

The girlfriend and I both really enjoy PF Changs.

I hate the URL function on this board. Too much work.

I'm with you on PF Chang's. I eat there ALL the time with my fiancee.

Best steak place I've ever been to (best wine collection for that matter) is Byrne's (sp?) in Tampa, FL. AMAZING!!!!

They had one bottle of wine that's been fermenting since 1789.

At any rate, I like Gibsons, but that is simply a personal choice....a good steakhouse is a good steal house.

Berns in Tampa is second to none...and they do have a VERY impressive wine cellar.

Might as well add a link to Berns:
http://www.bernssteakhouse.com/bs_frame.htm

Peen, THAT'S what I'm talking about. I completely agree with you about Berns. Absolute second to none. I had a cabernet sauvignon from 1983 (the year that I was born) down there on my birthday last summer.

Did you take the tour or go to the dessert section?

Beerdowner I love Weber Grill in Chicago. My fiancee and I have to go there everytime we visit there. I love having their house ear (brewed by Goose Island) with the Wisconsin burger. It's AMAZING. The rub that they give you to take home at the end of the meal is pretty good too.

My folks retired to the St Pete area in the mid 70's, so I have probably eaten there 20 times...been all over the place at one time or another.....I enjoy wine...the cellar tour is pretty awesome.

My latest favorite is Cafe' Toscano in Aurora, Ohio. It just opened about two months ago and it's already hard to get a table..

Food is great,, service is outstanding. It's owned and operated by the same guy that owns Giovannis in Beachwood which of course is another wonderful Resturant.

Probably the best Veal Parm I've ever had and I've had it from Maine to California and plenty of points inbetween....
