Question.. Every team had #21 on their helmets because of Sean Taylor.. I noticed this about a month or so ago but the Patriots do not have a #21 on thier helment.. They have a #91..

Just curious if anyone knows why??

Their teammate Marques Hill died this preseason. He drowned after a jet skiing accident, I believe.

It was optional for teams to wear Sean Taylor's number. The Pats chose not to wear it, as did a few other teams.

thanks for the clarification..

On that note, I find it hard to understand why any team would not wear it??

You're welcome.

I don't know why they wouldn't wear it, either. It makes no sense to me, but oh well.

I think everyone wore it for the one week. Beyond that it was optional. Could be wrong.

This is correct.

Taylor and Bill Willis died the same week, if I remember, and the Browns wore their numbers on their helmets that week. Some browns continued to wear both.

And I think the decision to wear the #21 on your helmet was up to the player, not the whole team. I know Romo had it on in the playoffs. I didn't take notice if anyone in the superbowl did.

Thought the jerseys and number showed a lot of class for the Game. Always room for this type of decency gesture. Splits em from some other pro sports.

GO BROWNS! And may Elfis the Elf be with us!
