Talk about a holier than thou crowd... Seriously people, the information is this "Brady Quinn was at an altercation and when cops arrived, he was arguing with a guy."

Something likely got said, then something said back yadda yadda ya. Whether or not someone was gay..who cares? Is anyone here going to make the statement that Quinn is a homophobe or hates gays? No.,..because there is no evidence to this.

Gad, free agency needs to start so people have something better to talk about.

Just for clarification...Do you think what was reported is ok? Do you think he should not be admonished if true? Is it wrong if someone else in sports were to do something like this? How do you feel about Rocker?

It's not always that black and white DC. I assume you have gotten drunk plenty of times, as have most of us. But yeah, if I tell a girl that I think she's beautiful and I've been thinking about her all the time, and i'm drunk, that's not always what i'm thinking...... Just an example though

When you're drunk, you're not always rationale.

As for Quinn in this situation, nobody knows what these guys might have said to him and his boys first either. We don't know who started it and who was saying what. May be the crowd that Quinn was yelling at said something to him that was insulting.

A gay kid told me last weekend that if he would punch me in the face last weekend if I said a joke about this retreat kids do at my school. I told him that if he did that I would hit him right back and continue to do so. If it went much further I could easily see myself saying something about him being gay. May be I would even have beaten him up. Is this a hate crime? A confrontation like this doesn't change the fact that I do have a friend and other kids whom I'm on good terms with that are male homosexuals, it's just part of the nature of a heated argument.

So I say we shouldn't jump to conclusions. May be they said or did something to Quinn or his friends that was innappropriate itself which started the argument.

If your standards are to judge based on the lowest common denominator, then so be it.

Kids are stupid, kids do stupid things, I was 23 and there are quite a few things I regret doing in my misspent youth.. nobody is calling for him to be shackled or traded or stoned to death.. just stating that if this is true, he might have a little growing up to do. Like the rest of us did at 23. Calm down.

Excuse me? You've lost me on how that question would lead to any kind of conclusion.

And AGAIN, NOBODY has called anything a fact. We realize nothing has been proven, we are simply commenting on the "if it's true" thing.

We don't know if Brady was calling names, or smacking his buddies heads telling them to shut up. The only thing we know is Brady was involved in an emarrassing situation. As is human nature though, some posts have already passed judgement. If it's wrong to say people shouldn't be doing that, I don't want to be right.

I'm not calling you out and I'm not going back to read what your position has been on this all along. There are more than than a few posters that are not responding to the "what ifs" in such a kind and gentle way,..it's a little unfair to BQ at this point don't ya think?

As far as my question I think you do have it. There is nothing conclusive that can come from it,..just like this article.

No I don't think it's ok. I just know that "stuff happens when drunk and with friends." Surreal stuff. Stuff that can't even be confirmed cuz no one tells the same story cuz everyone has a different drunk viewpoint of it.

Rocker is a different story cuz he has a repeated history of sober comments to the media.

Please Only one post in this whole thred pasted judgement, that being Toad's. Everyone else has prefaced their comments with phrases like "If it was true." There is nothing wrong with us giving our opinions of such comments, especially when they are prefaced.

General reply not directed towards you or Quinn...

The fact is to many fans are willing to give our players a free pass for wrong doings while crusifing others. We should try and be a little more consistant. We love to laugh at fans of the Bengals for making excuses for bad behavior. Kinds makes us hypocrites doesn't it?

I never mentioned anything about who I believed and who's at fault.

All I said was, it sounds like the story was exaggerated. The person's comments on the phone then later in the story didn't match up.

Hey, I'm just taking what I read into consideration. It's likely that it was started by his group, but like I said, I'd have to hear both sides. I don't like someone saying people are being violent when nothing physical is going on. Then singling out Quinn in the phone call, then later saying he was mostly quiet sitting in the back, letting his friends do the talking.

I'm not denying the incident. I never said that.

Just as some have said we don't know exactly what happened. We also don't know if they were drunk. I know I have made comments when I was drunk that I wouldn't have said when I was sober. That doesn't mean I didn't think that way but rather I was smart enough not to.

Ok. I must have mis-read. Still don't know the whole story. I'm gonna hold my opinion on Quinn until we hear the whole story. If this story is indeed true, it's very disappointing.

If it's true it's really sad.

If it's false it still sad, that somebody would make this crap up.

Either way, it sucks.

My parents had this neat little trick they used on me, back in the day. Whenever I was heading out the door with some of my friends, they used to yell out, "Remember your last name!" It reminded me that while I was in public, I represented the entire family. Didn't work every time, but it did keep me from a good number of scrapes and embarassing situations.

Guys in BQ's situation have to ALWAYS keep in mind that their profile comes with extra responsibilities. It may not be fair, but it is reality. Let's face it- the only reason ANY of us know about this (or even care enough to post about it) is because Brady Quinn's name is attached to the story.

If he's smart, he'll realize how close he came to having mud slapped on his family name... and make a few changes.

At 23, he's exactly the same age I was when I had a "come to Jesus" talk with My Pops about the friends I was hanging with. He told me to smarten up, and start "cleaning house." It was a turning point for me, and I'm glad I took his advice.

With a bright future ahead of him and all that potential endorsement cash just waiting to be grabbed, Quinn might want to consider getting out his own broom...

Never, ever is that a good excuse.

Try saying that to a court of law...or your wife...try using it to excuse any dumb behavior and see where it gets you.

College isn't the real world.

And as far as Quinn...well, he's always seemed like a bit of a loser...I have no idea what happened but the story seems to fit his M.O. (which don't prove jack, as I don't know the kid from Adam)...but if he can play football, then I could care less.

I remember BQ being asked if he had the Dolphins game circled us "his" schedule, after the Fish and the other teams passed on him in the draft.
BQ said something like "I've got the whole schedule circled," as if he took it for granted he'd be handed the keys to the offence as a rookie.
It's good to be confident, but he sometimes strikes me as being an arrogant jock, we've all seen that type in high school and college.

Another question, right or wrong is not a factor in this. But if it was just some random guys doing this, would it be news? Even more so, would the cops have been called over a verbal altercation?

You can stand by your post all you want. Up until the time you posted only Toad judged Quinn. That is a fact. All others that made ststements were prefaced, I know this because I checked before responding to you. Maybe you should do the same thing.

Dang, that's a nice quote. If you don't mind, I'll be using that on my kid(s). If they're anything like me, they need to be reminded.

I have told my son that on occassion when he did something stupid.. I told him a good rule of thumb for making decisions is this.. "If I was standing beside you, would you do that?" and if the answer is no, then don't do it when I'm not standing beside you.. it's that simple.

Why the need to prove me wrong, if not to make me look bad? So I made a mistake in conveying the number of people I was talking about. Is it really such a big deal it had to be pointed out? Noone else seems to care, why you?

It's a hypothetical question,...the answer may help you look more objectively at what is written here and what is known and considered to be fact

Because one person is gay and one is straight, one is supposed to be a liar and one truthful? Is that how it goes?

Look, I can't say I know or am around many gay people. I worked with one back when I was a freshman in college. He'd make inappropriate comments just like anyone else. I was a little more reserved then than I am now. If I would have retorted something, then would that make me the a-hole?

Point is, it works both ways. Until you hear both sides of a story, you can't pass your judgement. That's how things work.
