I did not know that, so does Norwalk get one of the national NHRA events now? Used to be you had to go to C bus for that.

The Garrett Morgan traffic signal

Patent drawing of Morgan's signalIt was Morgan's experience while driving along the streets of Cleveland that led to his invention of a traffic signal device.[8]

The first American-made automobiles were introduced to U.S. consumers not long after the turn of the century. It was not uncommon for bicycles, animal-powered wagons and new gasoline-powered motor vehicles to share the same streets and roadways with pedestrians. According to tradition, it was after witnessing a collision between an automobile and a horse-drawn carriage that Morgan became convinced that something should be done to improve automobile safety.

The Morgan traffic signal was a T-shaped pole unit that featured three hand-cranked positions: Stop, Go and an all-directional stop position. This third position halted traffic in all directions to allow pedestrians to cross streets more safely.[9] Its one advantage over others of its type was the ability to operate it from a distance using a mechanical linkage. Morgan sold the rights to his traffic signal to the General Electric Corporation for $50,000.[2]

What my wife didnt realize is I had been racing 1/4 midget cars and riding dirt biikes for years as a child and that once I got refreshed on how to operate a clutch I would drive her brand new car the same way I drove those cars as a kid.

I was in the car with my uncle in his Honda Civic CRX (mid 80's I had just turned 16), we were sitting on this incline waiting at a light (Jaycox Rd & Detroit Rd in Avon), and he said to me "You want to learn to drive a stick someday, I'll teach you." I said sure, and then he put the E-brake on, got out and came around the car, and said, get in the drivers seat.

He must have been a good teacher, because I made it through with out stalling or rolling backwards down the incline, a little slow and choppy, but successful none the less.

I taught myself how to drive stick once when a buddy of mine was drunk and I took his keys. His Ford truck was a stick shift so i learned real fast. It was an adventure on the hills of downtown Akron lol I bought my cousins 1985 Honda Accord that was a 5 speed without really knowing fully how to drive. i staled it out a ot the first day but got the feel pretty quick after driving Drink Alot Johnsons truck Now thats all I wanna drive is a manual tranny car! My Civic Si is a 6 speed and the first time dropping it into 6th gear was a little weird. I thought for sure I was going to put it in reverse hehe.
