Over the past several months I have been recruited by the coaches at Youngstown State University to play baseball for the penguins... As of a month ago I had verbally commited to play for the Penguins after being offered a full scholarship to attend the University. I find this as an oppurtunity to continue my career as a baseball player at the highest level but also to complete an education. I Also find this exciting to be located in Ohio and be even closer to the Cleveland. I live in Western PA and i am hard pressed to find friends of my age that are Browns fans. I believe I will meet many more going to college in the state of Ohio. YSU baseball just recently hired a new coach after the previous coach resigned. Coach Pasquale, the new coach, showed me his organized and structured plan to make us better players individually creating a cohesiveness to also make us a better team. I also will be playing the majority of my Home games at Eastwood Field which is the home field of the Class A Minor League team for the Cleveland Indians the Mahoning Valley Scrappers whose manager is now Travis Fryman. we get to use the same clubhouse that players such as Ryan Garko and Victor Martinez previously used. I feel blessed to have this oppurtunity to further my career in many different directions. I thank god for blessing me with the abilities to do so. Just thought I'd share with everybody.

Congratulations! A full ride to college, the chance to play NCAA baseball and maybe get scouted by the pros was only a dream for most of us.
Great job - now make the most of it.

Congrats. Let us know when the season starts and a possible posse will show up for home games. I live about 30 minutes from there and would be willing to bring a few Browns fans to cheer you on.

Congrats on playing for my Alma Mater! My uncle played ball for YSU as well. He was inducted into their Hall of Fame I believe last year. He originally went to Arizona St., but was homesick and moved back.

Congrats!
BTW, the Mahoning Valley Scrappers are not a Class A team for the Tribe. They are a rookie league team that starts the season a few weeks after the draft and is made up of mostly first year players. The Lake County Captains and the Kinston Indians are the two Class A teams for the Tribe.

Awesome! Congrats bud! I love to hear success stories. Keep up the good work and don't forget to study. I have seen many good athletes lose out on their dreams because they forgot to study.
Keep it up and maybe you'll get a shot to play in the Big Leagues one day.

Congrats and welcome to the area. Be careful in the near northside area. Boardman and Niles are great places to go out and eat & shop. There are some nice clubs in the downtown area. Also the Funny Farm Comedy Club will be moving to Niles. It is agreat place to cut lose with friends. Also, Steel Hack preforms there quite a bit.

maybe you misremembered that
http://www.mvscrappers.com/index.asp?pageid=8
The Scrappers The Mahoning Valley Scrappers are members of the New York-Penn League of Minor League Baseball, a short-season Class A league. The team has been affiliated with the Cleveland Indians since the inaugural season of 1999.
The Scrappers will often field many of the Indians prospects in their first or second season of professional baseball. During the 2006 season, five of the Indians first six draft picks saw action as members of the Mahoning Valley Scrappers with many later round picks finishing off the roster.
Twelve former Scrappers are currently on the Cleveland Indians 40-man roster, including former American League All-Stars C.C. Sabathia,Victor Martinez, Ryan Garko and Fausto Carmona. Several former Scrappers are on the rosters of other Major League teams as well.

Congrats DC!
I'm an alum of YSU and although YSU is a commuter school, living around or on campus makes the experience much better... trust me.

Good going man! Get out there and let all the people know that they are cheering for a great team, and you are the main reason for the support! You can do it! It is time for you to kick some major ass!

-DC- ... ...you da MAN!!! I say this because of one particular sentence in your post: Quote:
I find this as an oppurtunity to continue my career as a baseball player at the highest level but also to complete an education.
I wish you all the good luck I can on your passion for baseball... I'm lucky enough to be doing what I chose when I was young. Trust me, it's a blessing like you can't imagine.... but this is true, also:
"Getting your learn on" is the very best thing you can do for yourself- especially at this time in your life. You're just starting to be an adult... and the habits and routines you establish now will carry on through a lifetime. Establishing learning as one of those routines will make you a better person over the span of your life, no matter what changes come your way.
CONGRATS, -DC- ! A little piece of me envies you... because it's all just starting to happen for you. Many of us have already written a good share of their story already. This is a truly special time in your life... please be smarter than some of us, and treat it as such. (hehe...)
And, by the way- keep us in the loop about your progress... so we can all say, "I knew the kid way back when..."

"too many notes, not enough music-"

Good for you. I wasted my youth trying to be a rock star. I don't regret it. It was a dream of mine, and it fell short. You get a full ride and get to play ball. Do it up man. Make the most of it. Good luck to you.
How in the world can you fix something... If you don't know how it's supposed to work?
