This link was posted a year or so ago, but I wanted to give it again...it's been very active today. Turn your sound on. It's a windy day, so you'll hear a lot of gusty whistling sounds.

I thought I saw a true Bengals fan on there, but I was wrong. It was just a tree.

I think Nkorho Pan and Elephant Plains are the only two streaming cams...let me know if you find others. I've been checking them out a bit at a time.

Yeah, they are. I was hoping seals and penguins was a streaming cam

there are also stills from streaming cams along the left side -- including one of a bald eagle, for those who made the Bald Eagle thread into 5 pages of madness (or however long it is now.)

...haven't seen any animals yet but I did see a shooting star in the sky.

Funny, you can hear the animals growl with the sound turned up. They must be behind the camera. Camera shy?

I saw the star also pretty cool, keep waiting to see what is making all the noise, nothing yet.

There were lots of animals right around dusk but, it appears to be nightime there now.

And I believe those shooting stars are bugs.

Sometimes I think those "shooting stars" are actually bugs flying away from the camera. I got fooled by several last night.

And, the growling you hear is something with the wind. Sometimes you can hear animals behind the camera, but right now, it's just the breeze.

Ya, I think you're right. That shooting star was probably a bug, a bird or a bat. Seeing is how I've seen 4-5 more in the past few minutes.

Synopsis:

Female lions make kill, gang of hyenas come and chase lioness's up tree, start eating and pillaging their kill, lioness makes call out to male lion, who takes care of business.

Do not screw with a male lions women, nor his food.

Nice video - however, most of the time the hyenas "win". They are a nasty, tough animal.

Looks like that in this video, but in reality, male lions are lazy. Don't blame me - just a fact. Sure, on occasion they get worked up, but if I was a betting man, I"d put my money on a pack of hyenas over a pack of lions every time, and I'd be rich.

It's ticked me off even when I was a kid that they fight in packs, and steal others food.

I'd like to see a female hyena (I think the females actually lead the pack) go one on one for a meal with a male lion.

1 on 1 the lion wins, hands down. However, as much as lions are "pack" animals, hyenas are more so. Very seldom is there a 1 on 1 conflict. It's usually a pack of hyenas against a smaller pack of lions. Plus, hyenas have some of the strongest jaws known. They eat even the bones of large animals.

Beerdowner,
That video is from the documentary Eternal Enemies:Lions and Hyenas. It was one of the first animal documentaries that showed the violent world of those two animals. The video is an hour long and shows both sides struggling for life each and every day. I have it on VHS.. below is the link:

http://www.amazon.com/National-Geographic-Video-Eternal-Enemies/dp/6304474636

The only reason the Hyenas beat the female lions is just from pure numbers. But those numbers do not work when the Big Male Lions show up!!

Arch,
Do not MAKE or take that bet. That documentary shows that the male lions are the enforcers of the area and when they show up, they kill the head Hyena and any other in their path! That Male Lion in that video had the swahili name of "Ntwydmala" = one who greets with fire". He was the Hyena Killer!! ( that phrase was in the documentary)!!

Ooops - the name of that Lion is:
Ntchwaidumela - It means "He Who Comes With Fire" I got it from a National Geographic documentary, where it was the name of some Lion that frequently killed Hyenas.

Yeah, when the males show up (plural).....but, on a daily basis, hyenas take lions kills away from them.

You see, male lions are lazy....they let the females hunt. After the kill, the males show up to eat while the females wait, generally. That is why hyenas get a lot of what the lions kill - they get there sooner.

Plus, I have seen many instances where a pack of hyena will run off a pack of lions - males included.

I don't think they've ever seen one in that watering hole. There are turtles in there, though.
