Actually, I'd probably keep Carter if Williamson was the only alternative. IMO, Williamson is THAT bad.

If we are going to go after any WR in FA, Bryant Johnson should be that guy. He's better than JJ right now and would become our #2. That'd put JJ in the slot where, IMO, he's probably best suited at this point in his career.
I agree, that's my choice for a FA WR. If the price was right, I'd like to sign Drew Carter from Carolina, too. #4 this year, #3 when JJ retires. Good hands, runs good routes, has speed.

Bryant Johnson can potentially be a solid receiver. He put up nice numbers even with the 2 guys he's got in front of him. And those are 2 stellar receivers.

Nah.............not Andre King.
King lacked some of the physical skills to be a very good receiver, but he practiced hard, played smart, and was had coachable.
If King had half the ability of Wilson he would have been a all pro.
If Wilson had half the heart and drive as King he would have started 16 games last season.
I AM ALWAYS RIGHT... except when I am wrong.

Profootballtalk said it best: He's got the wrong combination of hands of stone and eyes of glass.
i live in Viking territory, this is my second favorite team.
This can not be stated enough- this guy is terrible. He could not catch a cold if everyone in the metrodome was coughing on him. He has single handedly lost games for the vikes. Most recent example- Denver week 17 this year. He has his guy beat by 10 yards, deep pattern. The ball hits him in the hands, he does what he always does, drops it. He is a drive killer, throw to him on 3rd down, heck you may as well have brought the punter out on third down. the surprise kick would have been more effective. He would make you wish for the days of Dropcutt. He doesn't need to worry about his no trade clause in the contract, i would not be surprised to see him cut by the end of training camp. His only value is a kickoff returner, and thats stretching it a bit. You could sign this guy to to a contract with the poison pill of a fine for every dropped pass- he would probably owe the team money at the end of the season. This really got me fired up---- this guy is not fixable, WE DO NOT NEED TO GET THIS GUY.

I would like to see us bring in DJ Hackett from the Seahags
Him and Berrian are pretty much neck and neck for the #1 WR available in free agency. They'll get big money, and will go somewhere to be a top receiver, not come to Cleveland to play second fiddle to Braylon.
The Cards receiver is a lot more realistic, in my view.
In my opinion, the Cards receiver is better than Berrian and Hackett, too. If we could land him at a decent price AND get the defensive free agents Phil wants too, I'd be a happy camper.

Reports: Vikings to deal WR Williamson to Jags for draft pick ESPN.com news services
Updated: February 26, 2008, 9:34 AM ET
The Minnesota Vikings' last link to the Randy Moss trade reportedly will be jettisoned from their roster later this week.
According to reports out of Minnesota, the Vikings have agreed in principle to trade wide receiver Troy Williamson to the Jacksonville Jaguars for a second-day pick in the 2008 draft, likely a sixth-round selection.
The trade cannot be completed until midnight ET on Friday, which is the official start of the NFL's new year.
Williamson was picked with the seventh overall pick in the 2005 draft, which the Vikings acquired from the Raiders for Moss. Other players which Minnesota acquired for Moss -- linebacker Napoleon Harris and cornerback Adrian Ward (picked in the seventh round via a Raiders selection) -- are no longer with the franchise.
Last season, Williamson was fined a game check -- a decision later reversed by the team -- for leaving the team to be with his family in South Carolina after the death of his grandmother, Celestine, to whom he was very close.
Williamson chose to stay at home the entire week and not return for the Vikings' game against the Chargers.
The Vikings wanted the wide receiver back sooner, though, and docked him one paycheck for his absence -- which amounted to more than $25,000 of his $435,000 base salary.
But after veteran players supported Williamson, the team decided to change course.
In 2007, Williamson caught 18 passes for 240 yards and one touchdown. In three NFL seasons, he has caught 79 passes for 1,067 yards and three touchdowns.
Information from The Associated Press was used in this report.

Seriously. That's all Williamson needs is The Opposite of Clutch as a mentor. Sickening thought.

My God......just think about it.........
Denise Dropcutt.......Troy Williamson.........Matt Jones.........and Reggie Williams.
That's three flamed-out former 1st round picks, and one too-light-in-the-ass punt-returner.
David Garrard must be shaking his head about now.......

LOL... no doubt. However, everybody knows the Jags are going to pound the rock more often than not and that their WRs are bigger guys so they can be more effective blocking downfield. That said, however, Reggie Williams was actually tied for 9th in the league with 10 TD receptions. I guess he's a pretty decent red zone target.

With that running game and Garrard's ability to scramble, SOMEONE should have some TD's receiving, hehe.
In his 4th year, 38 catches for 600-some odd yards is still dissapointing for a 1st round pick.

You obviously did something to anger her, otherwise you wouldn't be going to this extent to get back into her good graces. What...is the couch gettin' cramped at night?

So glad Williamson is going elsewhere- sure didn't want to see him on the browns. And tired of watching him as a vike.
If there was any truth to him wanting to come to Cleveland, this goes down as one of Savage's better "non" moves.

j/c Williamson is now a Jaguar. Whew! I didn's want this juy on our roster for even a day. http://www.orlandosentinel.com/sports/orl-bk-jags022908,0,3136293.story?track=rss
Jacksonville announced a trade for Minnesota Vikings receiver Troy Williamson on Friday morning, three days after news broke that the deal was done.
The Jaguars did not disclose the terms for Williamson or what they gave up, but it was widely reported that they surrendered a sixth-round pick in the upcoming draft to get him.
Williamson, the seventh pick in the 2005 draft, is 6 feet 1, 203 pounds and started eight games in 2007, but he is largely considered a disappointment in Minnesota. Despite being one of the fastest receivers in the NFL, he has only three career touchdown catches in three seasons.
Related links Jags trade for Vikings wideout Williamson Jacksonville Jags Jacksonville is hopeful he can shore up his inconsistency and become a stretch-the-field receiver the team has needed since Jimmy Smith retired following the 2005 season
Statistics are like a bikini; what they show is interesting, but what they hide is vital. Drive for show (1st round), Putt for dough (rest of draft).
