Asking again because you must have missed it the first go-round......how are people suffering due to these products being regulated?????

Well, "suffering" might be a little strong, but, in my case, the new regulations have made what used to be an very easy remedy to a persistent allergy/sinus condition I have much more of a hassle to get. I used to be able to get a month's worth of the type of Sudafed that works best for me without any difficulty. NOW, I can't legitimately purchase enough of it on my own to even cover an evening dose each night of any given month. So, I can either ask a neighbor or my parents to pick up a box of the stuff for me OR I can lose a few nights of decent sleep a month because of the ridiculously low limits the government has placed on these medicines. It is very frustrating at times.

It was my understanding that the biggest problem was that meth-heads/producers would go from pharmacy to pharmacy buying up as much of these drugs as they could to produce meth. Seems to me that the tracking system they now have in place would put a stop to that problem and that they could relax the limitation just a little bit to ensure that those of us who rely on this medicine could at least get a month's worth without having to resort to asking someone else to purchase the stuff for us.

Must have missed it. excuse me for not being at your beck and call.

Basically I feel like I sufer because I can't get the same relief I use to get. I'm an honest person, I don't abuse cold medicine. Yet I'm stuck battling a cold/flu for days longer than I'd like.
I can't afford to be off work.
I have no health insurance, and when I did, I still couldn't afford expensive anitbiotics and the likes.

I'm not a supporter of meth, I think it's very dangerous. But first of all, it's not a "new" drug. Second of all, if you choose to use or make it, you're an idiot.
And thirdly: with all the regulations they've made, is meth still out there? Yes.

You can't legislate morality. No matter what the government does, the drug epidemic will NEVER end. Like I said before, they will find something else.

Don't get me wrong, I'm glad they're trying to get rid of meth. I suppose my point is that I hate the fact that it affects me.... I've done nothing wrong. Maybe it is selfish, but I have no sympathy for morons who chose to put themselves at risk... it's not my problem, I have my own.

Hey Lifer, ask your doc to prescribe the amount needed over the limit. I don't know the specifics of the law but this could be a loophole to give you the medicine you need without a lot of hassle.

Plus I am pretty sure you can buy it online without limits.

I just call down to the pharmacy at work and they tube me up some.....quick and easy hook up.

I understand they are regulating this to prevent these idiots manufacturing meth. But it doesn't matter. It's still out there and it's still going to be made. I personally don't use cold medicine much at all unless I'm completely miserable. And I'm not talking sniffling, sneezing runny nose, I'm talking feeling like absolute caca.

First off, I got my nose broke back in the day (long story) and haven't been able to breath right since. It's never completely open and clear. Secondly, cold medicine a lot of times doesn't help me much. It may, MAY slightly dry me up, but sometimes I don't even notice the difference.

If I get desperate to breath through my nose, I'll use some nasal spray, but not very often because I get that rebound stuffiness bad. If it's a 12 hour spray, it usually works no more than about 8, and my nose ends up stuffier after it wears off then it was before. Once in a while, depending who is working the pharmacy at work, I'll call down for something and they'll just send it up. Otherwise I haven't had to go through this while purchasing stuf yet.

It's really a lot more than just shutting down meth labs. And as for just letting people do what they want, well this IS what they wanted. Sometimes people just want to have it both ways. We have created and empowered the FDA to tell us what is safe and they are now responsible for that. Just as they are allowed to stop a drug from hitting the shelves, they also have the option of regulating it.

See, we want to sue people when something hurts us. We want manufacturers to be 100% responsible for the safety of their products. We just don't think it's fair they make us follow the directions.
