You can say the most you've won if you're comfortable saying that in a public forum. I have no problem since I can't seem to win no more than 4 bucks at a time. And by winning big I'm talking 500 bucks or so. I buy them every now and then and I always buy the kind if your "lucky" number matches any others, you win the amount listed below. I always scratch off the numbers first and leave the dollar amounts hidden. Just like always, the other day I matched 4 numbers. I'm thinking maybe this is the time I win something decent. I wait a few minutes then scratch the dollar amounts off. Sure enough. $1, $1, $1 and of course $1. Why not just once.

$500 a couple of times back in my 20's. I worked at a place that sold them. If you watched the rolls, and the crackheads that would come in and buy them, scratch them off and walk out, you could sense a winner coming. I use to win a lot actually. $5 to $100 pretty routinely. I don't play anymore. I don't gamble with my money outside the stock market. I work too hard to earn it.

Probably for the same reason, you are not adding to this thread, but only whining about it. Let the mods moderate.

If we all started new posts about things that we said in another thread that got no replies, there'd be too many threads to keep up. That being said, you're right, I should let the mods moderate. As per adding to the thread, not much to add, never won anything more than a couple bucks off of scratch offs - didn't think there was much value to that

I will win between 25 and 100 every once in awhile. Don't play too often though. I had 3 of the six numbers in the mega millions last week.

I didn't post that. With all due respect, know your posters. This has nothing to do with that thread. I didn't win. This is when you think you have a chance at some money then you scratch off the dollar amounts, then only get 4 bucks or something like that. It's a bummer.

I feel ya. During Christmas this year, I won $10 for the first time on a scratch off. How did I win $10 you ask? Well, I won 10 times on the ticket, and every stinkin' time it was for a buck. A buck! I have never one more than $10. Up until 2 years ago, I actually never won more than $1 on a scratch off. I suck.

Because its the lottery. Your odds of winning ANY money is usually around 35%. Odds of winning more than the ticket costs: >20%. Odds of winning anything over $10: >5%. Odds of Winning anything substansial: >.00001%
The only reason people get lost in thought is because it's unfamiliar territory.

Talk about the mega millions, at work a few months back if I remember correctly, we hit 4 of the 6 but no mega ball. We got a hundred and some all together. One more number or was it the mega ball we would have hit 125,000 or something along those lines. Always so close, but no big payout.

Well, check the thread, someone with the same name name posted the following on the 2nd reply after the AdManager. I'll stop now - sorry I said anything.

I scratched the dollar amounts off. $1,$1,$1 and of course $1.
Why can't I win a few hundred bucks for once. Oh well.

I won $250 or $500 about 15 years ago...not much since. I don't buy them very often. I have a $3 winner in my car from Christmas. I'll probably trade it in for more tickets.

You're right. I thought I posted or replied to something about this but couldn't remember for sure. Before I posted this I looked back at the thread topics to make sure. I didn't see anything started by me so I went along with this.
Sometimes my computer locks up and I have to restart it. So I thought I lost what I was posting or replying about.

About 15 years ago I won $500 twice on the same day. Haven't come close again since. lol I have hit the number (3 digit) for about $1600 once on a wild ass hunch ..... and at a former job 35 of us hit the Millionaire of the Month to the tune of about $1000 each. That's about it for over 20 years of tickets. Of course, I usually only play 1 or 2 every other month or so ...... so my odds aren't all that great.

I only play when I get that lucky feeling. (which isn't very often) The last time I felt good and lucky I splurged on a $20 ticket and came out 480 bucks ahead. It was a $500 winner. I win more than I lose because I don't play that often. Just last week I hit for $35 after spending $5.

Because you suck!
just playin,,I quit playing those b/c I never win even a free ticket. I think the most I won was on a Monopoly game when I was 18 and I got all 5 numbers right. I ebded up winning only $20 and then lost it all when I bought 20 more tickets hehe.
You know, there is nothing more annoying then to be stuck in line behind a lottery junky. "Yeah let me get 2 number 7's, 3 number 15's, 5 number 22's, and then scan this winner and give me 10 more of them." Then they stand up there or to the side and scratch away at their crack, or go out to their cars to scratch and smoke with the windows up and doors locked to make sure nobody can come and take their tickets

The ONLY way the lotto works is for the majority to constantly come up short, but keep it enticing enough to bring them back for more.
The lotto is a complete scam. It's been called a tax on the poor and that's probably an accurate description of these almost unbeatable odds games.
And then, the most ironic part is that you read many stories of the 'lucky' that actually do hit the big money and go bankrupt later, have terrible issues with their new found wealth, etc....

The only time I play is on Thursdays durring bowling. We play 5 card draw where every time you mark you pick up a card and then discard one. I use the money when I win to buy instants. I'll go through a string and win $20 - $30 bucks when I only spent $5. But there are times I don't win for a few weeks. Now I remember back when the Bingo instant first came out. I just turned 18 at the time and after paying my car payment it left me with $5. Which kind of sucked because my parents were out of town and we were talking about throwing a party. My brother also had $5 and we threw in and bought 5 Bingo instants. (The first one was $2 each) we ended up winning $30. So we went to a different store and bought $20 worth of bingo instants and we ended up winning $30 again. Then we went to another store and bought $20 more and we ended up winning $500. After that we got our older brother (who was 21) to buy some liquor and we threw one hell of a party. And at this party I got back together with my old girlfreind who is now my wife and we also now have a 10mo old daughter. It could have all been because of a lucky string of instants.

About 6 years ago I hit for $5,000. The unfortunate side of it is that there were 5 us in a bar buying tickets so $4,000 went to the other people. When I scratched it off, a little devil was perched on my shoulder saying throw it away and go dumpster diving after the place closed. I didn't. I did the right thing. Prior to that I hit a $50 about 15-20 years ago. I haven't hit crap since and I still play about $20 once every other month when a group in the bar is feeling lucky. We haven't won crap.

Back when the Cavs had Price, Daugherty, etc, I used to play a combination or Browns/Cavs players numbers on the Super Lotto, I believe it was called at the time (it was close to 20 years ago). The one time I didn't play and the jackpot was $20 million....ugh

It's always like that. One of my moms friends wins on the Pick 3 and Pick 4 numbers all the time and she was telling me I should play after she saw my e-mail address with the "337" number. I was thinking yeah right I won't win. Sure nuff the next week I was waiting in line at the store and I noticed the weeks lottery numbers posted and sure enough 337 came up not once but twice that week
I like to buy instants as stocking stuffers or a little something extra to put in birthday cards but thats about it. I will throw down $2 at work when they all play the mega millions. I spend $2 a day to get coffee before class each day anyways so it's not a big deal. I just can't see doing it all the time.

The best is when you buy those fake scratch offs, that are supposedly winners, and give them to someone as a gift. To find a sucker who will fall for it is as rare as a Loch Ness Monster or Yeti sighting, but when you do and they get all excited...priceless!

I was at a golf tourney, and at one of the par 3's they were handing out those fake tickets to the guy closest to the pin in each group. My buddy got his and scratched it off, and it was a $5k "winner". He was jumping around, called his wife, and his mother.
We did everything we could not to roll laughing, because he made us all look at the ticket to confirm it was a winner, which we did, but we also noticed the "disclaimer" on the back, but gave each other the "eye" about not saying anything.
I think we finally let him in on the gag about 6 holes later, because he was so excited he was hitting the ball poorly.
We don't have to agree with each other, to respect each others opinion.

Biggest was about $110 some years ago. Play on payday. Your answer, OUR answer, I heard once went something like this: "The lottery is the voter approved undeclared tax for the statistically challenged." same is true with scratch offs. We are blind to our own ambition. I play again this Friday. Go ahead! Make my taxes go up!

A client of mine went to buy his usual Monday morning paper at his local store. He found his lottery ticket in the back pocket of his jeans and asked the girl to just run it through the computer to check it. Turned out he had won just over £260,000 about $500,000 and he wasn't even aware of it I had thought about whether a more dishonest girl would have said 'sorry no luck' and claimed it herself? he was totally unaware of what that ticket was worth until she told him!

thats nothing.... at the firestation we would all pitch in and get lotto tickets... one guy bought his own, and left his ticket laying around.... so they wrote down his numbers....later he missed the drawing, and was asking what the numbers were so everyone acted disinterested...said they lost, and gave him the copy of his numbers.....well he got real quiet, after saying he had 3... he was almost out the door, going home when they broke the news.....needless to say, he was quite pissed
