Travis Laboy is visiting Cleveland Friday.
The Browns already have beefed up their line with Corey Williams, but they need more pass-rushing help. Laboy struggled to stay healthy or produce in Tennessee. He may also visit the Saints.

Donte Stallworth is expected to visit with the Browns on Friday.
Stallworth would immediately become the No. 2 receiver opposite Braylon Edwards, and give Cleveland a second legitimate deep threat.

Landing a guy like Dante would be huge IMO . After reading up about LaBoy ... He is still young and seems have his moments, but I'm not sure if a big contract with him would be the answer .

It would make our receiving corp probably the most lethal in the game...

Edwards
Stallworth
Jurevicius
Winslow

Laboy would have led us in sacks last year (6.0) and he only played in 13 games.

I don't think Stallworth is a #2. I think he's #3.

I'm surprised Stallworth had such a bad year compared to Moss and Welker. He had only 3 TD's in that offense. You know, the most prolific NFL offense in the history of professional football. And he had 46 catches and 3 TD's as the #2 WR? Jabar Gaffney (5) and Ben Watson (6) had 11 TD's combined.

Do you all really think he's a #2?

I say, "Meh".

I guess LaBoy would be playing OLB in the 3-4....as a situational pass-rusher....ok....but he´ll probably demand some serious $$.....he a big play pass rusher: 6 sacks, 4 FF last year as a backup DE....

would be another risky move by Savage....but he projects well to OLB and maybe Savage was high on this guy as a 3-4 tweener prospect

I say yes...No he didn't have a great year...but was productive, and sandwiched between Moss and Welker...that's a hard spot...Welker spent so much time being open, and Moss was, well...Moss. I wouldn't overpay for Stallworth, but for the right money, he could come in and do very well for us...He can stretch the field, and actually catch the ball, unlike Tim Carter.

Well most of the time all I saw was Brady passing to Moss, Brady passing to Moss almost everytime. If it wasn't Moss than it was Welker, JMHO.

I hardly saw Stallworth get any chances to actually catch the ball, I'd love to see what he's got. And if he can catch em and bring em in, then I say let's get him signed.

Yes...that raised his stock enough to go to NE...when he was in NO...they lacked a lot of talent, and he started his career with mediocre results. But yeah...his breakout year was with the Eagles

Stallworth was #4 option in that offense at wr. He was behind Moss, Welker, Gaffney.

Stallworth has potential but doesn't he have some injury issues? Not like torn ACL's or anything, but the nagging things like hamsting pulls. Maybe our workout program could get him the shape needed to excel. One thing is for sure, i know the guy's a burner ...

Vrabel had two catches for two TD's. One less than Stallworth.

He caught 46 passes for 697 yards with the most prolific offense the NFL has seen in a lot of years.
I'd rather just keep Joe and let him do what he does best.... catch the ball when we gotta have it.

This is one of the FA LB's I wanted us to target. spooky

He is a veteran. Primarily played ILB. However he does know all the LB positions in a 34, and is a very good special teamer. I wouldn't look for him to unseat one of our ILB's but be a solid contributor if he makes the final 53.

just clickin'

As I mentioned in another thread, I'd be very wary of paying Stallworth too much. He has average hands at best, has never been much of a route-runner and, even when teams were successful in taking away Moss, he generally wasn't a big part of what may have been the most productive passing game we've ever seen in the NFL.

I know the guy is fast. However, I don't know what else he brings to the table. If we're going to go after a FA WR, I'd much rather see us look at a guy like Bryant Johnson. IMO, he's a much more complete WR than Stallworth (better hands, better route-runner, good size and speed, etc.).

Valid argument. Can't disagree with it...I wouldn't really rush to sign a WR this early anyway...we have more pressing business...but we do need another receiver before the season starts

Thought this was as good a place as any to post this:

Browns lining up more visits
by Tony Grossi Friday February 29, 2008, 3:08 PM
Exhaling from an exhilarating start to free agency ...

* The Browns are being visited today by Tennessee defensive end Travis LaBoy and New England receiver Donte Stallworth. Newly acquired defensive end Corey Williams also is in the house. Their arrivals were delayed by bad weather. The team is expecting two more free agent visits tonight and even more on Saturday. All are dependent on the weather

There was more to the article but this was pertinate to this thread and the theme of the day. You can read the rest here if you want:

I wonder who the other scheduled visits are?

For the lack of sounding like a complete homer I won't say it's gotta be

But he is the only big time FA that hasn't been at any team offices.

you had a good run Hank.
