Yeah, but I was talking to you.

I know you hate DA and that we lost to the Bengals because it was all his fault. I also realize how that he had ZERO part in all of our wins to even get us into contention. After all, any QB could have done that. Of course, it was DA who lost the six games all by himself.

And the final record doesn't matter. Nor does it matter that the Browns put half a hundred on the Bengals earlier in the year. All that matters is another lame ass excuse to bash a guy because you love Brady.

Now............you wanna talk about this trade..........or not?

Right now, we might as well be watching the Draft, because the Browns have made it clear that the playoff push will be next year.

sign Phil sign.....

yeah I did and it is true. We all know it but that is niether here nor there.

This Rogers deal .....it could be great but it might be one that we see in it's real light after the season.

As you have said earlier about the Browns knowing more than we do about DA & BQ, the same goes for Bodden.

if this goes through...we now have nobody in the first 3 rounds......something tells me that there is still something cooking in Phil's kettle in Berea.

Stay tuned folks...the day isnt over

PHIL IS A MAD SCIENTIST.

Just don't trade Winslow or I'll have to kill someone.

Er... then we'd need a cornerback, right? Unless we're thinking Wright and McDonald are good to go? Or we're going to get an immediate starter in the fourth round with our first pick of the draft? This move is a head scratcher for me.

Randall Gay and Ty Law are both out there. Law is old, but would be a temporary fix.

Also, if we're looking to get rid of ALL our draft picks (LOL), the Iggles are shopping Lito Sheppard. Maybe Phil also has eyes for Drayton Florence (who did not reach a deal w/ the Jags despite reports to that effect)

Let's look at Leigh Bodden for a second.

He had one good year. He's been injury prone, and this past season, struggled...MIGHTILY, for whatever reason.

This clears the way for Brandon McDonald...who could ultimately prove to be a flash in the pan...but with the strength of our DLine now, secondary mistakes won't be as evident.

And I stand corrected, I guess this deal could happen.

Works for me. Hell, they can trade away all our picks now.

Anyone think that maybe Savage sees this as a very weak draft? I mean, maybe he doesn't really have his eye on anyone in this draft. I don't see a ton of talent this year, maybe he decided to go out and get proven talent, rather than draft picks?

Why is everyone so hung up on draft picks?

We were 10-6!!!!!! We add Williams and Rogers to the DL and everyone wants to complain about not having any first day picks?

We added two DT's that each had 7 sacks last season, one of which can play any position on the DL (Williams) and people still moan and complain. What else does everyone want? Ghandi at FS?

Man, sorry to snap there for a second but geesh.......we just added two PROVEN players that SIGNIFICANTLY upgrade the roster and everyone wants to cry about draft picks.

Wow , this is all very interesting indeed..... I know Bodden has not been himself as of late and I THINK it may be worth it. But we better make damn sure Rogers gets fired up and plays his ass off, he better not be slacking on any play.

I just need to slow down an think for a minute, everything is just going so fast right now...so we have a 4th, a 6th, and a 7th in the draft am I right???

We have 2 6th's, got one for Frye.

I think it is a weak draft. I've heard it is weak at the top but pretty good overall, but I think it is pretty damn weak.........period.

One more thing...........someone brought up my point about how the Browns know more about DA/BQ and likewise, they know more about Bodden. That's true. But, I don't see how they could know more about Rogers.

Like I said.........it seems like a lot to give up for a guy who has had his issues. I have a hard time w/guys who have the "lazy, underachieving" rap. I could be wrong. I hope I am wrong. The guy has a lot of talent. Perhaps Phil hit a home run????

The Shaun Rogers trade from a more credible source....

Lions | Team close to finalizing deal for Bodden
Fri, 29 Feb 2008 19:09:50 -0800

Tom Kowalski, of MLive.com, reports the Detroit Lions are close to finalizing a deal that would send DT Shaun Rogers to the Cleveland Browns for CB Leigh Bodden and a third-round draft pick.

On the trade, if it is true.

First impressions.............I don't think I like this one too much.

Bodden and a third for a guy who was criticized for being out of shape, taking plays off, not giving his all, and being a disappointment????

My 1st thought too....but then.....for a lazy guy getting to 2 ProBowls? He played great in the 1st half last season.....then faded when they started their losing streak.

He may need a contending team to get back to 100% again?

I´m not sure about this move too....but knowing Savage, he has plan B.....maybe Law or Gay?

Bodden has definately lost a step and got burned a lot last season.....yet, he still produced nice stats to dangle him in a trade....he may be at peak value

I get the "Rogers being lazy" argument.....but he went to 2 ProBowls...he aint no Warren

1 thing´s for sure: Savage is making the risky moves to get us over the top, I like this aggressiveness...he´s not satisfied with mediocrity.....you gotta make risky moves in the NFL to get to the top....you may slip reaching for the top and fall back to the bottom.....but I like that he really tries hard

so, I guess....Im not sure I like the deal but I like the mindset

DeAngelo Hall is one of the last guys in the world I would want on the Browns. He is over rated as a corner and one of the biggest jerks in the entire NFL. He is a cancer and I want no part of him.

I would much rather have picks for Anderson than Hall. Hall was fined huge amounts last year for throwing tantrums on the field and all he did last year was complain. I'd rather not deal with that.

I actually laughed out loud.

Can someone with a better understanding of the 3-4 line tell me what it might look like and the advantages/risks it poses?

On paper, it sounds like Phil Savage obsessedly made both lines top shelf.

I sort of agree with your caution, I'm not sure I like this trade at all.

rogers *can* be good. however I don't like his history at all. I give a to this trade if it's true

sombody (randy) is pushing hard for playoffs this upcomming season.

I'm sure someone with a better understanding of the 3-4 will come along with a better answer. But, at close to 340 pounds, Shaun Rogers seems like he will fit in very well with a 3-4 scheme.

somethings up here...

how could we trade bodden + our 3rd for rogers, and at the same time, get williams for our 3rd.

i thought the williams trade was for the second, but there seems to be some debate regarding the trade.

Forget DT, we need to put that guy at RB! Did you see that stiff arm? And who in their right mind would want to tackle him?

I think the Browns are trying to patch the team through FA this year.

I can see 3 or 4 DL, a LB, and a WR.

bottom line is we need help in a major way on the dline...

savage is getting that....

obviously dline is more important than corners...we've still got wright, and macdonald...both while young looked good last year...plus we have 2 safetys with experience to back them up...holly has done good as a spot starter too....

we need.....absolutely need to stop the run...no more hoping, we have to do it...

now obviously were not gonna get major help picking where we are in the draft....so fa is the only way.

while i like bodden, look at what new england did a few years back when i can't remember who it was but they had a receiver playing corner, cause they had so many hurt....and they won the superbowl...why? cause there front 7 rocked....

Corey Williams will play DE for us. He's an incredibly versatile guy who saw snaps at just about every DL position for GB.

Smith may bump over to the weak side DE but he will probably also play some DT to spell Rogers occasionally.

All in all we have some absolute RUN STUFFERS on the DL. It will free up all the LB's to both run downhill against the run in space and rush the passer/fire through gaps.

For three years now I'm loving free agency. It's been far more nerve wracking than the draft!

From ClevelandBrowns.com

Browns close to acquiring Williams

Zac Jackson, Staff Writer

02.29.2008

Running back, quarterback, defensive lineman.

Check, check, and almost a check.

The Browns are on the verge of addinga player one of the NFL's best teams originally designated as too good to allow to hit the free agent market - a player the Browns targeted internally long before free agency started as someone who could bolster the defensive front both immediately and in the long term.

The Browns and Packers have agreed to a trade that will bring defensive lineman Corey Williams to the Browns in exchange for the Browns' second round pick, 56 overall, in the 2008 NFL Draft. The Browns and Williams have agreed to terms on a six-year deal.

"We felt like (Williams) is someone who, if he did get to free agency, we would be interested in trying to obtain," Savage said. "Once the league year began we contacted the Packers and asked if they'd be willing to talk trade. We talked about it and ultimately came to the conclusion it was worth a second-round pick to get a defensive lineman that has played in the league and has had success in the league."

The Packers designated Williams, 27, their franchise player before free agency began. Williams was a force on the interior last season for a Packers team that finished the regular season with the NFC's best record.

Williams' breakout season came in 2006, when his first 11 starts came in his first 16-game season. He followed that up with another stellar 2007, when he again fought off double teams and played well against the run and the pass.

He had 7 sacks in each of the last two seasons and set a career high with 35 tackles in 2007, one more than he had in '06. He played in all 16 games and two playoff games last season.

He was a sixth-round draft choice out of Arkansas State in 2004, playing in 24 games in his first two NFL seasons. Savage said Williams (6-foot-4, 313) could fit at either left or right defensive end with the Browns and will play inside in the Browns' four-man fronts.

"When we left our final free agency meeting, our three main objectives were to sign Jamal Lewis back, sign Derek Anderson back and also to try to address the defensive line," Savage said. "On the first day of free agency we were able to do that.

"We're excited about adding Corey. He'll be a real valuable addition."

To add Williams, the Browns had to give up their only remaining first-day pick in this year's draft. That was not an easy decision, but it's one Savage said makes the most sense as the Browns sort through their options for continuing to improve the team.

Specifically, he said the Browns wouldn't be able to get a defensive lineman near Williams' caliber with the 56th overall pick.

"A legitimate veteran d-lineman who still has a lot of upside potential seemed to be a good fit for us," Savage said. "Our scouting staff...will get to know those mid level players a little better. Maybe we'll find a gem or two."

I think my head will explode if we land Briggs.

Even so, our defense is dramatically better on paper. I can't wait to see Wimbley, Jackson and Williams running around untouched. They are going to be all over the place with the cover that Smith, Rogers and Williams are going to provide.

LOL...........dude, read ddubia's article a few post's up.

Hey ddubia................what do you think about this?

"When we left our final free agency meeting, our three main objectives were to sign Jamal Lewis back, sign Derek Anderson back and also to try to address the defensive line," Savage said. "On the first day of free agency we were able to do that.

Not a bad start, eh?
